Bob Dylan is and will be one of the most inspirational singer-songwriters to live. “His songs are known for social and political issues” (B0b Dylan-Wikipedia). “Bob Dylan was born with the name Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota” (Bob Dylan Biography). Bob Dylan got his name Bob which is short for Robert and Dylan from the tv series Gunsmoke (Marshal Matt Dillon). Dylan started singing and writing songs while attending college at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. During College he performed folk and country songs at local cafes. Bob Dylan later dropped out of college in his first year and moved to New York to proceed with his folk singing career in 1960. The injuries were never disclosed, but Dylan said that he broke several vertebrae in his neck. This gave Dylan the time and a chance to escape the pressures around him. Dylan did not tour again for almost eight years. “As Dylan was getting well enough to resume creative work he started editing the D.A. Pennebaker’s film of his tour of 66. He sent a rough cut to ABC television and they rejected it because it was incomprehensible to a mainstream audience” (Bob Dylan-Wikipedia). Dylan returned back to touring in the beginning of 1973 and signed a new label, David Geffen’s Asylum Records. After touring Dylan and his wife separated and he started writing songs about relationships and ruptures and later recorded an album called Blood on the Tracks in September 1974, released in early 1975. Later part of 1975 Dylan wrote a song that was about a boxer named Rubin “Hurricane” Carter who was imprisoned for a triple murder in Paterson, New Jersey in 1966. Even though the song was almost eight minutes long and it still made 33 on the charts. In 1978 Dylan did a yearlong world tour and performed 114 shows.
