Furthermore, block scheduling aids teachers by providing time to improve teaching methods as well as benefits relating to their job. Teachers and teaching methods directly impact student motivation, interest, and success in courses. Andrej Elez is a student at Montgomery High School - which utilises block scheduling-; moreover, he was enrolled in a traditional school schedule in previous years. Moreover, teachers are able to spend more time with students and verify that the class or students within classes are not falling. Consequently, teachers can make class more interesting and ensure their students understand the material. Additionally, there have been many studies on the effects of block scheduling directly on teachers and their work. "In a qualitative study of teachers' attitudes toward block scheduling, some of the advantages of a 4x4 block schedule identified by teachers were that they had fewer preparations, more time at school to undertake their duties, less students per semester, and less paper work" (Hurley, 1997a qtd. In Gruber). Although this specifically refers to the 4x4 schedule these benefits are applicable to most block scheduling forms. Overall, a multitude of block scheduling forms affect the amount of students a teacher is responsible for.
