The humor in Blazing saddles dates back to the 70's type of satire that was used. The jokes that were made in blazing saddles would definitely be problematic in today's sensitive audience. Jokes for example calling people the N word for fun can cause issues today , while back in the 70's it was okay to say it all the time. Senseless humor like the sign that said "Knock on barb wire first to come in", was so ridiculous that it made it funny. One good example that showed how dated the humor was, is when Mr. Hedley wanted a way to get rid of the people of Rock Ridge. The conversation between Mr. Hedley and a railroad official had a funny joke that started off with "we'll kill the first born child of every household ow wait that's too Jewish".
The film would mock different stereotypes such as the Irish, Political politicians and current celebrities by either making them look bad or by easily outsmarting them.
The Alamo portrays the historical battle between Santa Anna controlling the Mexican Army and the Texan Defenders who are defending The Alamo, a mission located in San Antonio, Texas. The film is heavily concentrated on the year 1836, specifically the months February and March, and the year 1835. The film stars Dennis Quaid as Sam Houston, Billy Bob Thornton as David Crockett, Jason Patric as Jim Bowie, and Patrick Wilson as William Travis. The Alamo is a historically accurate movie that involves history, war, and immense amounts of drama.
More than 150 years have passed since the peak of the romantic era. The world has inconceivably reached heights unknown seemingly at the expense of nature. The very paper that this has been written on has come at the killing of countless trees. It seems that in the war between the genius against the noble savage, the scientist against the romantic, man against nature, those who believe in nature have lost all the battles. However war is not always starkly clear. The complex relation between man and nature creates a base for conflicts and resolutions between human and nature in Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and the film Beasts of the Southern Wild. Despite seeming to be on the losing foot, it is nature that wins the war ultimately.

I chose to read the novel The Whiskey Rebels by David Liss. This story is told from two very different points of view and takes place in Philadelphia and the Western frontier between the years 1788 and 1792. The novel starts off with the point of view of Ethan Saunders who was a spy for George Washington during the war but who is now viewed as a disgrace because of rumors that he committed treason during the war. One day while he is at a bar he gets news that Cynthia Pearson who was to be his fianceé many years earlier, asked him for help finding her missing husband Jacob Pearson. He only agrees to help Cynthia because he still loves her. In
The movie, Chronicle, grossed over 123 million dollars worldwide with a budget of only 12 million; that means it not doubled or tripled but multiplied its budget by 1,000 percent. Chronicle is a movie that takes place in a big city with three teenage guys, Andrew, Matt, and Steve, who are from three very different walks of life. In this movie, Andrew is the antagonist and Matt is the protagonist. These three guys then find something extraterrestrial and somehow who superpowers. Andrew gets most of the superpowers and can use them the best; because of this he sees himself as alpha and eventually kills Steve out of anger. In the end Andrew goes crazy and as a result Matt has to kill Andrew to keep the city and civilians safe. Josh Trank uses

The theme of the song “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” by The Band is surviving defeat. The speaker of the song, Virgil Caine has determination, he swears that he will stand his ground and not be defeated; “I swear by the mud below my feet, you can’t raise a Caine back up when he’s in defeat”. Virgil Caine is a soldier in the Civil War who returned home after the defeat of the South. He feels grief because he lost his older brother in the war, “And like my brother above me”, “a Yankee laid him in his grave”. Despite his loss he continues to be a hardworking man who is proud to continue in the footsteps of his father and work the land as shown in the lines “Now I don't mind choppin' wood, and I don't care if the money's no good” and

In the film Midnight Cowboy, audiences are treated to the very different Ratso Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman) and Joe Buck (John Voight) trying to survive in New York City with the hope of making it big. Despite their differing circumstances, both share tragic pasts and a hope for the future which is accessible to the audience throughout the film by various editing techniques, such as use of non-simultaneous and bridging dialogue, flashbacks, musical score, expository dialogue, and montage sequences. Joe and Rizzo have very different pasts which are revealed through these editing and sound techniques, yet despite their roles as foils for each other within the film, they both look to the same future and bright ideal of the American dream, symbolizing
Based on a true story, the movie ‘Lone Survivor’ features four Navy SEALs that set out on a mission to Afghanistan with orders to capture and kill Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. The Navy SEALS are detected by villagers and the mission was compromised. Ultimately, the mission had been discovered and the men found themselves surrounded by dozens of Taliban soldiers. One of the Navy SEAL soldiers managed to dispatch to base and retrieve assistance but the Taliban shoot down the helicopter. During battle, three of the Navy SEAL soldiers were killed leaving one still alive.
The movie I chose to analyze for historical accuracy was War Horse. This movie was set in the First World War, starting in Britain but the story also explored France and Germany during this time period as well. Three scenes will be analyzed: the trench warfare scene between the British and the Germans, the scene where the British soldiers were gassed, and the scene where the British were getting patched up and nursed. War Horse does well to stick to the historical accuracy of what happened during the First World War due to the fact that the three scenes that I have chosen to analyze are not embellished and are close to what really happened.

Taking a class in Death and Dying never sounded like a fun endeavor, but I still enrolled in the class with the hope that it would help me better understand how people deal with death. I have had a positive experience with this course, and was lucky enough to solidify some of the themes we discussed in class while reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. The story follows a young girl named Hazel Grace, who has a fatal form of cancer. The book follows not only her view of the story, but also involves her family, her cancer support group, and a boy named Augustus.
A baby boomer born in the early 1950s would have lived through many monumental, political, and social events throughout American history. One man in particular lived through and experienced almost all of those moments. His name was Forrest Gump, whose fictional life and experiences were captured in an American classic. The film Forest Gump was released in 1994 and touched the hearts of Americans everywhere. The film takes place after World War II and touches on the era following the war and the anti-discrimination movements in the United States and continuing on into the 1980’s. The aspects of the film that make it a true work of art are the music throughout the film, the cinematography, and the setting.
