Blake Shelton is one of the biggest names in country music today. Born Blake Tollison Shelton, on June 18,1976 in ADA, Oklahoma to a beauty salon owner and a used car sales man. Blake began singing at an early age and even wrote his first song by the age of 15. At the age of 17 Blake met and performed for songwriter, Mae Boren Axton, she convinced him, that he should move to Nashville. Soon after finishing high school Blake moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his singing career. He got a job working for a music publishing company, and was later signed to production contract with Sony Records with the help of Robert Valentine (Bobby) Braddock a song writer and producer. “Came Here to Forget” is a Misery Loves Company type of song where two people connect at a bar while trying to drinking their ex’s away. Even though Blake didn’t write this song many believe that he chose to record and release the tune, due to irony or relevance that the lyrics tell the current story of his life. The first line in the song “Girl getting over him and I’m getting over her,” it draws a certain familiarity to the start of his relationship with now girlfriend Gwen Stephani, following their high profile and very public divorces last year. The chorus of the songs hints of a man and woman wronged and perhaps offers the spiciest lines in the song. “That first kiss was like a Colorado hit, we better keep on keeping it lit, 'til we can't remember, can't remember what we came here to forget”, which also contains the hook or title of the song. The next verse of the song talks about each of them checking their phones seeing if either of their exes wanted to get back with one another. The chorus then repeats with both of them drinking and forgetting. The last verse in the song
