A Career as a Biomedical Scientist

A number of significant scientific events have occurred in recent years. With the recent changes in globalisation and technology, scientists have been experiencing high number of challenges. This has brought about significant technological advancements in many fields especially in that of biomedical sciences. These lifesaving advancements range from Cancer detecting blood tests to bionic lenses. I want to be part of the development in this scientific field, to be amongst those bridging both the basic and clinical sciences and bringing ground breaking scientific research from bench-to-bedside.

My passion has always been helping people, particularly in Africa where diseases like cholera, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and Malaria are major threats to human lives.Recent UNICEF analysis shows that 300 - 600 million people suffer from Malaria each year and over 1 million people lose their lives to the disease. I have a creative mindset and the broad spectrum that biomedical science covers allows me to put that into play in terms of all the various experiments carried out and various job opportunities available. My priorities are God and Family, I do not want a job that causes me to question my religion or one that is so hectic and time consuming that it does not let me have time for family. I like the fact that working with the NHS England allows me to work in Europe and gives me access to invaluable work experience and knowledge that will allow me to be a change agent to help revitalize the health Industry in Africa.
