The definition of what makes a person “revolutionary” varies depending on many different factors, but typically it is someone who is dedicated to make changes that others may overall benefit from. These changes can be either big or small. Tyra Banks is a great example of someone who is revolutionary. Some of her contributions include charity work, modeling, business, and overall promoting self worth and esteem to many women (including young girls-teens). Tyra Lynne Banks was born on December 4, 1973 in Inglewood, California. Tyra’s father, Don Banks, was a computer consultant and her mother, Carolyn, was a NASA photographer. “I was taught to enjoy food, not to fear it”. She eventually developed a much healthier habit later on, and even began to work out with her mother’s exercise group. The death of her grandma had a big impact on Tyra’s life. Her grandmother passed away from lung cancer, and it was after this that Tyra vowed to never smoke. The transaction from middle school to high school was not easy for Tyra. She went from being a “popular, gossipy, mean girl” to basically the complete opposite. She was bullied during hs for being so tall and gawky (growth spurt), often called “Giraffe” and “Light bulb head”. “I went from being the popular girl who looked normal, to being considered a freak.” But even despite all this, she says that all the teasing and abuse she received throughout high school aught her the importance of kindness. At fifteen, Tyra began modeling. She was rejected by four modeling agencies until she was finally signed by L.A. models. She later switched to Elite Model Management at sixteen years old. Due to an opportunity to model in Europe, Tyra put off college and instead moved to Milan. She was booked in twenty-five shows at the 1991 Paris Fashion Week during her first runway season. She later appeared on the covers of Elle, Teen Vogue, and Vogue magazines. She has ran on the runway for many designer companies such as Chanel, Valentino, Fendi, etc. and has been featured in the advertisement campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Nike, Dolce & Gabbana, etc. Today, she is known as a leading international fashion

    According to Webster’s Online Dictionary, revolution is “a sudden, radical or complete change.” During the early settlement of the British colonies, settlers became so culturally different from those in Great Britain that they already seemed to be their own country.
