William Henry Gates better known as Bill Gates is a American businessman and the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation. (RECODE, 2017) He was also regarded as one of richest man in the world with a net worth of approximately $87.9 billion. The reason we choose Bill Gates as a leader because of his passion for his work and giving something back to his society and also his determination. The thing that made Bill Gates better than other leaders is his ability of thinking big and different. He wasn’t afraid to take risks. They are learnt from mistakes and if someone motivate or inspire them. Just like Bill Gates inspired a lot of people from all around the world. There is one person who was the role model of Bill Gates. That person is Henry Edward Roberts who died at the age of 68.
(Lohr, 2010) According to this article, Bill Gates had a very personal connection with Dr. Roberts. Dr. Roberts is the one who created the MITS Altair which is the first general purpose microcomputer, a device that could be used to programmed to do all manner of tasks. He remembered as the father of the personal computer (PC). Bill Gates along with his friend Paul G. Allen writing software for MITS Altair which was his turning point and which gave him the idea of forming Microsoft.
Bill Gates once said that he always remembered his mentor Dr. Roberts which changed his life and helped him to become a one of the best software engineer of all time. When the MITS Altair appeared first time in January 1975, Bill Gates added Basic Programming Language that could run the machine ( first personal computer). The program which he and Paul Allen created for Dr. Roberts was the beginning of the world’s largest software company.
