Gates was still in contact with Paul they ended up thinking of all the endless possibility they have together they ended up contacting a company to work on a project a basic software program that would run a Altair computer. They spent a lot of time in Harvard’s computer lab they were trying to think of a name for their program they wanted a name with micro-computer mixed with software they landed on Microsoft a soon to be big billion dollar company but when they first made it they thought it was going to be a failed project but it was a huge successful program over 10 percent of the people that had computers paid for it over time the company grew and had employed 25 people Bill Gates made himself the head of the company which grossed $2.5 million in 1978 and Bill Gates was only 23 years
It started with two teenagers who envisioned an endless world of possibilities for the world of computing at an early stage. Paul Allen and Bill Gates were two high school students who attended Lakeside their dreams of one day being computer moguls started with a word processor, the Teletype Model 33 that they played with and programmed. It was brought from a rummage sale that the Mothers club attended. It was located in the activity room at their private school in Washington.
Bill was accepted to Harvard University in the fall of 1973. Bill did not willingly venture to parties as most college students do, unless dragged there by his friend Steve Ballmer, whom he later repaid by naming him president of Microsoft. He slacked off a bit always trying to get the highest grades by putting in the least amount of energy. In his second year he dropped out, he and Paul Allen founded a company called Traf-O-Data, which analyzed city traffic data. Though a good idea, there was not much need for it. After reading an article in Popular Mechanics, Gates and Allen contacted M.I.T.S. in regards to providing software for the new computer Altair 8800. They were soon contracted for programming languages and moved to New Mexico and started Micro-soft (the hyphen would later be dropped). Soon IBM contacted the two asking for an operating system for their first personal computer. Bill told them he would be happy to make an operating system, although that’s not exactly what he did.
Gates not only shared dreams and hopes with himself nut with his partner Paul Allen there big dreams were about softwares and what impacts it would create to be able to impact people's lives to have a computers in every house, however he had to face many obstacles they stood in the way of his dreams in his private elementary school there wasn't enough money to provide for computers because back then they were very expensive and without computers how could he do what he was most interested in. Therefor Gates had a fundraiser was able to rent a year worth
William H. Gates III was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle Washington. He is the middle child and only son to his parents William Jr. and Mary. He has two sisters, Kristi and Libby. As a child he enjoyed sports and cub scouts. His parents had a law career in mind for him, like his father, but he had an interest in computers early on. He began studying computers in the seventh grade at Seattle’s Lakeside School, which was a private school chosen by his parents in hopes of challenging his curiosity and intellect. There he came to know Paul Allen, who would later become his business partner. Gate’s early experience with computers included debugging them, helping computerize electric power grids, and founding with Allen a firm called Traf-O-Data. He did all these things while still in high school. Their small company earned them $20,000 in fees for analyzing local traffic patterns.

He also had two older sisters who were in high school when Bill was born. Bill attended a public elementary school before he moved to a private school in North Seattle named Lakeside. Lakeside's strong academics enabled Bill to actively get involved with computers (which were the love of his life next to baseball) and use his superior intellect. This was the beginning of a long and successful career in computers. Bill combined his intellect and visions of technology along with his active participation in may charities to make our world a better place.
When most people hear about Bill Gates the first thing that comes to mind is the obscene amount of money he has made through out his career. Owning many different foundations, the most common foundation known to most college students is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that provide many different scholarships. However, this foundation also does various things to give back to communities and aiding suffering countries. Within this foundation there are also various branches such as the United States Program, The Global Development Program and the Global health program that have grown over time making the Gates a commonly used household name.
The company was founded in 1975 by William Henry Gates III -- currently the chairman of Microsoft and the wealthiest man in the world -- when he called the makers of a new microcomputer, MITS, and asked to demonstrate the BASIC programming language for the system. After the demonstration, MITS agreed to distribute Altair BASIC so Bill Gates left Harvard University, moved to where MITS was located, and founded Microsoft in ...
This was the same year when Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft. In 1981, Bill Gates’ company was hired to develop an operating system but rather than creating a new operating system they decided to buy a preexisting operation system called QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) for the amount of 50,000 dollars. After modifying the operating system they bought, they renamed the operating system to MS-DOS. After MS-DOS began selling it brought in a steady income for Gates due to the fact that the PC market was growing and there weren’t many competitors in the market for them to compete with. In 1986, when Microsoft Corporation went public, it made Gates into a millionaire overnight. The following year, Microsoft released their first ever version of
Gates suggested that IBM “license it and charge a fee for the software” (Bill. Biography). Over the next three years, everything “exploded” and the stock price shot up. Gates and Allen incorporated Microsoft, with Gates as president and Chairman” (Bill. Biography). Microsoft was eventually “running thirty percent of the world’s software”. The IBM deal was possibly the biggest event in the history of Microsoft.
After completing their second year of college Gates and Allen had decided to make their own software company. They started out with Micro-Soft as the first name of the company but later took the hyphen. Gates had soon went back to school at harvard however he dropped out in 1977 before he graduated. On his time out he soon devoted himself to Microsoft and made it his full-time Job. This would help him find the problems and fix them. It would make the company a lot stronger and better. “In 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, two young computer hobbyists from Palo Alto, California, unveiled the prototype for the Apple 1 computer. A local computer dealer saw the Apple 1 and ordered 100 pre-assembled units. Over the next 10 months, about 200 Apple 1’s were sold.” (Musolf).
He had helped IBM with an operating system for their new personal computer coming out soon. “In order to meet the IBM deadline, Gates paid $50,000 for the rights to a rudimentary operating system called "Q-DOS" ("quick and dirty operating system") designed by a Seattle programmer. Gates and his team made some adjustments to the system and added some new features, renaming the result MS-DOS (after Microsoft)”(McGuire 1). Bill Gates had made his first operating system which was the kickstart to his new company called Microsoft. One problem he went through was when his amazing success brought him to court.
At thirteen he enrolled in the Lakeside School, an exclusive preparatory school.[8] When he was in the eighth grade, the Mothers Club at the school used proceeds from Lakeside School's rummage sale to buy an ASR-33 teletype terminal and a block of computer time on a General Electric (GE) computer for the school's students.[9] Gates took an interest in programming the GE system in BASIC and was excused from math classes to pursue his interest. He wrote his first computer program on this machine: an implementation of tic-tac-toe that allowed users to play games against the computer. Gates was fascinated by the machine and how it would always execute software code perfectly. When he reflected back on that moment, he commented on it and said, "There was just something neat about the machine."[10] After the Mothers Club donation was exhausted, he and other students sought time on systems including DEC PDP minicomputers. One of these systems was a PDP-10 belonging to Computer Center Corporation (CCC), which banned four Lakeside students—Gates, Paul Allen, Ric Weiland, and Kent Evans—for the summer after it caught them exploiting bugs in the operating system to obtain free computer time.[11]
While Bill Gates was at junior high a group of parents raise money to purchase the first computerized terminal in the school. When that happened he decided to take all his time to work on that system teaming with other students to learn about different operating systems. He excelled in his learning of systems and he started developing ideas to make business with companies in order to learn how they make their terminals. His mind for busi...
His father was an excessive lawyer, and his mother was the daughter of a well-to-do banker. He was in a public school but his parents moved him to a private school at the beginning of his seventh grade year. Two years later the school began a computer club. At the time, the majority of schools didn’t have access to computers or computer programming but Bill’s school did. Many opportunities were presented to Bill, but the major one was that Bill Gates was sent to that one private school with a computer programming club and his parents had the money to pay for it all.
