Bob Saget, star from “Fuller House” feels sad because, Bill Cosby, the man who mentored him and influenced him, had his reputation tarnished forever. According to the Huffington Post, Nov. 25, 2015, Bob believes that Bill’s reputation can never be repaired. Over 50 women have come forward to accuse Bill of drugging them and then taking sexual advantage of them.
Bob met Bill when he attended Temple University in Philadelphia and he graduated in 1978, while Bill received a bachelor’s degree in 1971. Bill was a member on the Board of Trustees, but he resigned when the first couple of women accused him of sexual allegations.
Bob said during his interview on Huff Post Live, "any human being that does things that are despicable to other human beings
will be slightly tarnished by history. I went to Temple University and he was a mentor of mine, and I was on 'The Tonight Show' [with Cosby] two weeks before Johnny Carson went off, and it's very sad. I think the answer is obvious -- that the man has been tarnished -- and it's just sad for all of the people involved." Like many people, Bob grew up loving Bill Cosby, his comedy and his show, but he finds it hard to separate the Bill Cosby he knew, with the one who took sexual advantage of so many women. This overshadows every good accomplishment that Bill has achieved because this is all most people will remember. Bob Saget starred on “Full House,” “America’s Funniest Videos” and he is currently doing the spin off to “Full House” with “Fuller House” due to appear on Netflix next year,.and the Broadway play, “Hand to God.”

Question; Is it what you accomplish that makes one great, or how you accomplish it. Richard Pryor and David Adkins or “Sinbad” are two of the most notorious comedians in American culture, but the lives they lived were on extreme ends of the spectrum. They both started out in or were kind of pushed into comedy when their real hopes and dreams fell short. Both of them served their country in the army for two years, and then jumped on the comedy circuit, traveling the country to play small gigs. Their struggle to become famous was similar in that they both worked extremely hard to get where they wanted to be. Their upbringing was altogether different though.

It is theorized that the phrase “angry Black man” is a social construct created during America’s Colonial period. It was supposedly used to negatively describe an African-American men who spoke out against what they considered to be an incongruous and xenophobic society and more specifically the institution of slavery. The phrase’s essence had been intentionally misconstrued. The three words together were said to have been used by whites as a dismissive tool; a method of sabotaging the validity of an outspoken Black man’s claims of an unjust and oppressive system. This was done in an effort to detract from the legitimacy of the outraged Black man’s cries of injustice. Purportedly, Abolitionist and Black male orators of the time were becoming increasingly persuasive in their arguments and it was feared that their message would garner support. With this in mind, white supremacists took it upon themselves to attach a contemptuous label to those Black men that dared speak up. The word “angry,” was likely chosen because it typically evokes negative perceptions. This would have been a major factor in the promotion of the trivialization process and also the attaching of the conspiracy theorist stigma. Not only was this a manner of dismissing the Black man’s claims but it also helped to dehumanize him as well.

Although Cosby has had a university education and received many honorary degrees, which few achieve, nonetheless, he is associated more as a successful entertainer than a scholarly educator. Interestingly, Cosby has self-described himself more of a class clown than an academician during schooling. Cosby started his entertainment career as a stand-up comedian doing performances across America during his younger years. Comedians have a notorious talent for stirring up crowds and encouraging clamor from the audience. They compose jokes that anyone can relate to and, thus, reach broad demographics during their performances. The talent has remained with Cosby to present and is manifested within the tone of his speeches as well.
