A Hobbit, a burglar, a ring bearer, and barrel rider. Those titles do not come until later in Bilbo’s journey. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien all started like an ordinary day for Bilbo. It all changed when Gandalf the Gray came to Bilbo's door and told him to be expecting guests later that night. So Bilbo did, but Gandalf did not specify how many guests. Bilbo thought only a couple were coming over not fourteen (thirteen dwarves and one wizard). The dwarves talked about a quest to get Thorin’s fortune back from Smaug. Smaug was the dragon that attacked and killed the dwarves then took control of the lonely mountain. Yet they still did, the Dwarves saw a bright light off the path so they went towards it, and got captured by Elves, Bilbo escaped this by slipping on his ring. Bilbo then followed them to the dungeon that they put the dwarves in and helped them escape, by hiding in empty wine barrels. Which brought them to the base of the lonely mountain, they gather more supplies at Esgaroth lake town. Once they got towards the top they found the secret passageway that Thorin’s father had to use to escape Smaug’s assail. Now all they had to do was open it, after trying many things and failing Bilbo had the idea of using Thorin's grandfather’s key. Now that they had made it inside the castle all they had to do was kill Smaug, so they can take back the Gold the rightfully belongs to the Dwarves. In The Hobbit Bilbo Baggins learns that he is more than just a hobbit that sat around smoking his pipe, into a sheep that follows others unaware of all consequences, than to a leader that helps the dwarves, and finally a Hobbit that is nothing like the old hobbit, for this hobbit has lived his life to the fullest and is ready to sit on his porch to smoke his
