Running head: Bevis.Session1.Journal 1 Session 1 Writing Assignment Neriza Vinyard-Bevis Colorado Christian University Bevis.Session1.Journal 2 Session 1 Writing Assignment After reading the College of Adult and Graduates Student Handbook 2016-2017, I was greatly impressed and intrigued to know that Colorado Christian University (CCU) teaches the same principles as what I have been taught, and live by, in the fourteen years of my life at Global Community Communications Alliance/Church and Religious Order (aka GCCA) in Tumacacori, Arizona. Therefore, my thinking, feeling, and actions--whether I am on campus or not--aligns with everything CCU abides by. Because I have now transitioned to CCU, I can see a much deeper depth the vision and mission …show more content…
You are actually Walking it!” I had asked what she meant, later informing me that my elders, supervisors, and my own peers were recommending I needed a star, which is to state one’s acknowledgement of advancing within the Ministry Star System. Those were exciting years, which later earning three stars within a year had never been done before. In general, after one hits the fifth star one becomes mandated as a Vicegerent Second Assistant Minister under the Mandate of the Bright and Morning Star versus Lucifer. Once I received a star and on I was given higher responsibilities: lead certain teams, coordinate working schedules within the household I resided in (roughly 30-35 people were connected to this home), certain fields of the Community Kitchen, Child Care, and anyone who needed assistance I would be there for. I was called The Floater because I was able to jump into anyone’s function when they were absent, which helped me see how well the Personnel Office depended on me when anyone was not feeling well or was called elsewhere. I realized to be a good leader one needs to be a good follower, which is where we all …show more content…
This also included when we went out to help the homeless, it was alright to come home late at night, as long as the group who went out to minister was in God’s Will and had a mandated individual leading the
One cannot help but think about how these principles can be utilized in one’s personal dealings. Loyalty, decency, and lifting up of your fellows are wonderful ideals to strive for in friendships, marriage, and in the rearing of children. It is difficult to think of any place in our lives that these ideals would NOT be applicable.

The setting in both Lord of the Flies and I Only Came to Use the Phone contributes to the dehumanization of the characters in each of the readings. The settings are both isolated, which is the cause of all the chaos that takes place because when you take a human being out of the comfort of society, they go back to their natural animalistic tendencies in order to survive. Survival of the fittest is present in these quotes. Also, the island archetype plays a huge role in both of the stories.
In order for us to look at these principles we must first learn about some of the leaders talked about in this book. We first look at ...
Canada has been known as a peaceful country throughout the years. Its modest image has kept them from being attacked by terrorist. In Robert W. Murray and John McCoy article, “From Middle Power to Peace Builder: The Use of the Canadian Forces in Modern Canadian Foreign Policy,” it talks about how Canada wanted to be established as the peacekeeper between other international powers. Robert W. Murray and John McCoy discusses ideas about a Canadian foreign policy that was created to maintain a middle ground between large and minor powers. Canada did a lot to dedicate itself to ensuring its national security by faithfully participating within many international institutions. McCoy and Murray article discusses about the idea of Canada’s peacekeeping and being the middle man power, and how it was established during their involvement in Afghanistan. In the beginning of the article, it explains Canada’s transformation of foreign policy and how it went from being a middle power force to becoming an active force in the policy of peacebuilding.
As she was pulled out of the water by the two guards that witnessed her slip underneath the water's surface, I realized it was my turn. I aggressively unzipped my fanny pack where my CPR mask was stored and began checking vitals. She had a pulse but was not breathing. My heart immediately dropped. I wanted to perform the rescue by myself. I trusted the hours of training I had gone through, I knew would perform it right and to the best of my abilities. Even though I knew everyone was just as
Letters, emails and phone calls soliciting for donations along with providing an awareness of the need to assist the homeless individuals. To co-workers, associates, local providers which provide services to the homeless population, advertising it in my email’s signature page, Face Book, conversations with some community members such as the Columbus House, United Way, Whalley Avenue Special Service District, and local distributors in the City of New Haven and speak to local business; including a request to WTNH Channel 8 Community News to provide a television segment to encourage the community and other organizations that can make a contribution with products or monetary donations to the need of the project. In addition, if there is not enough donations to continue this project in the future, fundraiser of home made lunch meals, will be implemented. Without that source of community and organization supports, there is little likelihood of a successful implementation of the
All four services were represented and all four wore three stars (Lieutenant Generals and a Vice Admiral, respectively) so that one service didn't have to fight through ranks to be heard and/or taken seriously. Because of the Goldwater-Nichols Act, unified and specified commanders possessed the full range of authority needed to meet their responsibilities and consequently gained collective strength utilizing "unity of command."
The first chapter deals with how to handle people successfully. In this chapter it highlights one of the most important things you can do when dealing with people and their particular situation is to rationalize with them, meaning that to better understand were the person is coming from you must put yourself in their shoes. Every one can and will rationalize why they make the decisions they make. People like the infamous Al Capone never thought he was a bad person. He had rationalized the actions he took and the decisions he made. This is a good example to lead into the first principle, which is that no one should ever critize, complain, or condemn other people. Principe two suggests that you always give people or sincere appreciation. You shouldn?t sit and think about your own individual accomplishments and successes, but compliment others on their successes. The most important thing that others can give is their genuine appreciation. That is the key to getting what you want, threatening people by force or harsh words, but to get others to do what you want is to give them what they want; appreciation for their deeds. Principle three explains that most people do not care what you want. They care mostly for themselves and are not really interested in what you want. The key is to expose them on how what you want will also benefit them; it establishes eagerness and willingness in the other people. A good example of this is fishing, you don?t bait the hook with what you want to eat, you bait the hook with what the fish want. Again, thinking from the other side?s perspective.
State how these values were formed, how they influence your character, and how you came to embrace these values. (2 marks)
I feel that doing what you say you will, and treating others as you want to be treated are principles that should not only be looked at as great strengths but as internal values that convey credibility. When people trust you and know they can come to you without judgment, it offers them a sense of security and peace.

One of the most significant qualities an individual can uphold is the capability to have personal values and ethical standards and use them in their everyday lives. These values and standards represent who a person really is and what kind of beliefs they hold. Our viewpoints and attitudes are affected by our experiences with family, school, media and culture. Furthermore, society organizations, groups and individuals all have a certain extent of rights that require them to be responsible because without responsibility comes an ethical repercussions. In regards to my own personal code of ethics, my main purpose is to uphold a life full of purpose and to motivate myself to the best of my ability. I believe that always treating others the way you want to be treated is the most successful key to life in terms of care, truth, justice and integrity that have stemmed from my experiences with my family, school and media.
This said woman was my mother. She was a flight attendant at the time for US Airways and despite being busy 24/7, she tried her best to make time for both me and my education. From what I was told, my mother was valedictorian of her high school class and was had many extra- curricular activities to credit for. Despite being a great student and having tons of friends, there was something else going on in my life at the time, in which very few people in my circle were privy to…
The many principles that my parents have taught me is to be outgoing, but most importantly an educated person, for allowing me to become what I am today, a respectful mature young lady.
