Championship weekend featured four of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, two of which who could be considered the best of all-time. In the league today, you have to get great play from your quarterbacks, that much was proven in the postseason. But when you look at who made the Super Bowl, what do you see? Fantastic defenses, with smothering secondaries, and hellacious pass rushes. The Panthers and the Broncos have fantastic quarterbacks, but the defenses are what got both teams to the Super Bowl.
The Broncos Defense
This defense has been a special unit all year, as it finished first in total defense. It is anchored by the best secondary in the league, with Aqib Talib, Chris Harris Jr., and Bradly Roby holding down the corner spots, and T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart manning the safety positions.
Aqib Talib are two of the best corners in the entire league, and Bradly Roby is no slouch. T.J. Ward is becoming the most feared strong safety outside of Cam Chancellor, with his crushing hits discouraging any receiver who dares to go over the middle of the field. He can also rush the passer,

That's how many turnovers the Panthers defense forced on Sunday against the Cardinals. SEVEN. Against the top offense in the regular season. The Panthers defense is good, but I didn't think it was that good. But I saw one of the best defensive performances ive seen all season, and the numbers they have posted this season don't lie; thay have been great.
The secondary has been depleted, yet the Panthers still manage to boast one of the better passing defenses in all of football. Led by cornerback Josh Norman and safety Roman Harper, the Panthers held their own through the air, and actually led the league in interceptions with twenty four. Norman can shut down half of the field, so that leaves three players to shutdown the other half. That makes defense very hard to throw against. But the secondary is not what scared
Does the team they played for have the most Superbowl rings? Troy Polamalu and James Harrison are the two best players to ever play in the NFL because their team they changed NFL defenses, and are some of the strongest NFL players and are some of the best at their positions. The way they play the game of football is awesome they just stand out in the games. They also are really strong James Harrison is the overall strongest OLB/DE to play the game. Troy Polamalu is one of the most, if not the most versatile Strong Safety/Free Safety to play the game. There were two coaches who coached them Bill Cowher, Mike Tomlin. The Steelers got their name from Cleveland republic steel 1962. The stadium is located in Pittsburgh, PA.
It is the reason fans fill the stadiums or turn them into ghost towns. If you were to look up success in the NFL one would probably see a picture of the Patriots. Six trips to the Super Bowl, fourteen winning records, and making the playoffs fourteen out of fifteen times within a fifteen year period are all hallmarks of their success. Comparing that to the Cowboys’ one playoff win, zero Super Bowl appearances, and five winning records within that same time span really shows which team has enjoyed more
In the Conference Championship against the Pittsburgh Steelers during the game, Brady went down with an injury, but luckily Bledsoe finished the game out and won. The Patriots were heading into the Super Bowl as huge underdogs expecting to get crushed by the St. Louis Rams in the “Greatest Show on Turf.” Brady got the starting job for the Super Bowl and led the Pats to a seventeen to three lead at the half. The Rams came back in the 2nd half and tied it at seventeen to seventeen with less than two minutes remaining most people thought that the Pats should run the clock out and go to overtime, but instead “Tom Terrific,” and the Patriots drove down the field in spectacular fashion to get into field goal range. Bam! Tom Brady the 199th pick who became the seventh string quarterback was now the youngest QB to win a Super
In 1972, he had a Passer Rating of 157.5 in a game. A rare perfect rating would be 158.3. In 1973, he had an amazing season where he brought the Broncos to their first ever winning season. That season he earned a First Team All-AFC, led the AFC in touchdown passes, and earned the Broncos offensive MVP. In 1974, he led the NFL in yards per pass attempt with 8.1 yards. In 1975, he played his final season and retired. He became the Broncos quarterback coach for the 1976 season, then retired from that right after. In 1977, the Broncos went to their first super bowl, the year after Charley Johnson retired. He ranks 7th in most touchdowns by a Broncos quarterback, and 9th in most yards. In 1986, Charley Johnson was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame.
An athlete’s college career is something seldom used when determining the best players at each position to play professional football. To seriously distinguish between whether Manning or Brady is the best quarterback of their generation their college careers must be carefully examined. Manning, a farm-boy, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 24, 1976 ("Peyton Manning Career Biography and Statistics | SportHaven.com"). His father attended Ole Miss, where he is very well known, but Peyton, when making his decision chose to attend the hated University of Tennessee. As a Tennessee Vol, Peyton Manning, not only set records, but also posted astronomical numbers. He won his first start as quarterback, 10-9 against Washington State, and lead the team t...
There are always different areas and beliefs in big cities, but in some cities they are taken to a whole new level. Everyone is proud of where they are from naturally, whether it’s in regards to their sports team, schools, or maybe a famous product that originated from there. There is a very well known divide in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, where there seems to be a highway or street creating an invisible line. Cincinnati is well known for its education, food, and the diverse lifestyles one may be able experience in the rather large suburban area. If someone asks a Cincinnatian where they’re from, they will proudly respond with either the Westside or Eastside! Common phrases one may hear are, “Westside best-side or Eastside money-side.” It’s not necessarily true that someone is considered good or bad due to their response; it’s just a pride factor to them.
The Steelers overall have many strengths that should last throughout the entire franchise of the team. Even when having a short down year, the Steelers are never in rebuilding mode. When a team can go nearly forty-five years without many rebuilding seasons, it shows that the franchise as a whole from the owner, players, coaches, and fans is run the right
The Chicago Bears are known for having up and down years. But in the past they have showed that they can become the big powerhouse in the NFL. They have a very rich past and will sure to have a very rich future. The Bears are one of the greatest legendary teams there is.
...ay Lewis led the ravens defense to a NFL- Best ranking in 14 major defensive categories including total yards allowed. Lewis missed two games due to an injury, but still recorded 103 tackles a personal best offive sacks. The ravens allowed just one 100-yard rush performance in the 14 games. Lewis played. Lewis was named AFC Defensive player of the week following his seven-tackle, one sack and three pass deflections. In 2007 despite the Baltimore ravens mediocre he earned his 9th Pro bowl nod in his 12th career. He finished the season with 120 tackles. As the years go by Lewis is getting stronger better and making his way to one of the best football players out there. Ray Lewis is soon to be one of the best defensive players out in the NFL history. Lewis totaled over 1,000 tackles over his career. He is only getting better and will improve every game in my opinion.
Do you like professional football? Have you ever wondered where teams originate from? Or what teams have been around the longest? The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional team that has an extensive history. There are also many unique details about them that other NFL teams do not have. There creator was a great man who started the team from practically nothing, their name and logo represent great tradition, and lastly, they have won many championships.
NFL teams are practicing lightly so far this year, training camp is multiple weeks away, and the first preseason game isn't going to be played for months. The new defense has not been completely installed yet and neither has the new offense. We do not know whether the special teams unit will be as effective as it has been the past several seasons because Chip Kelly's practice schedule is no longer in place to provide extra reps and the overall depth chart isn't even being considered at this point because players are currently sporting shorts and t-shirts on the field.
...y would argue that no other quarterback will be able to ever match his level of success. Even though he was interested in other sports as a young boy, it is crystal clear that he was supposed to play football. At six feet five inches and 230 pounds, we can assume that he would be a formidable opponent in any sport; but looks don't count. Actions are what count, and Peyton has certainly delivered in that department.
On the plane ride home and in the airport I was still thinking about the game. The Carolina Panthers had blown out the Buccaneers by 30 points! Cam Newton scored 3 touchdowns himself! I was still excited about the whole game until I fell asleep in the
The 2010 SEC Championship was a sight of horror for the young but explosive South Carolina squad. The Tigers of Auburn, led by QB Cam Newton, stormed through South Carolina winning in dominant fashion by 39 points. Gamecock fans continue to await the day that they will return to that game and avenge their only loss. The path doesn’t have much light shining through it but with one win, the Gamecocks will open that door to a much wider horizon.
I think this play is one of the best plays I have ever read. At te
