We have always heard “In with the new and out with the old”, yet one man has flipped this view; Bernie Sanders is a senior citizen who is wanted in the white instead of a younger Democrat or Republican. Bernie Sander at the age of 74 , has Hillary Clinton, age 68 in the run for her money. Bernard Sanders is running for President as a Democrat now but he was an Independent. Bernard has been in the mouths of millions of people, most importantly, those of the younger generation. Bernie has left the general population “Feeling the Bern”. Sanders form of speaking makes it comprehensible for the youngest teen to the oldest of citizens. Bernie Sanders is the man for the White House. Throughout his voyage people have heard, “ He is a Commie he will destroy America” yet, he has been the leader in the teen vote. In addition, he was the first independent socialist in the house and remained a socialist until his run for the Presidency. The appointment of Sanders to the …show more content…
White House will bring positive changes to our country. Bernie Sanders was born on September 8, 1941 and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Bernie is the youngest of two boys. Bernard and Larry Sanders are sons to a Jewish immigrant father from Poland and a New Yorker mother. Like many immigrant at the time their income was not great and according to Bernie's Campaign; Facebook page , “ Bernie was in humble family”. At a young age Bernie saw the economic struggles of American citizens and according to bio.com he told the Guardian newspaper, “ I saw unfairness. That was my major inspiration in my politics”. Bernie’s education began at James Madison high School. At James Madison, Bernie was an active athlete. In the washingpost.com Bernie says, “ I was a very good athlete, and yes, I did take third place in the New York indoor one-mile race”. In addition to athletics, Bernie began his yearning passion for politics. Bernie ran for student body president and he placed third, but luckily it did not stop him. Bernie later attended Brooklyn College from 1959-1960. Later he transferred to the University of Chicago where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (Bernie Fun Facts). After graduation Sanders moved to Vermont, where he worked as a carpenter and filmmaker. Now why a man who has already lived and fought for justice not just sit back and watch; according to bustle .com he said, “ A guy named Adolf Hitler won an election in 1932. He won an election, and 50 million people died as a result of that election in World War II, including 6 million Jews. So what I learned as a little kid is that politics is, in fact, very important”. Bernie is a man with many answers and ideas for the following issues; income and wealth inequality, free college tuition, the creation of decent paying jobs, combating climate change, and humane immigration policy among other things. Sanders plans are seemingly endless and like Gutner a close friend of Sanders told Margaret Talbot writer for the newyorker.com; “ Sanders central issue is: Are people doing O.K., or are a small number of people ripping them off?” Bernie is a man for the people. Feelthebern.org states; “Bernie Sanders believes that all students deserve the opportunity to receive an affordable education from the earliest stages of schooling to high-level degrees”. One point Bernie wants to get to is making college tuition free sounds a bit crazy, but it is possible. Sanders has a plan that consist of six steps in order to fix the issue of student debt and encourage more people to further their education. The first step is to make tuition free and like Bernie has mentioned, “ Many countries around the world offer free college to their citizens therefore America can do it too”. Step two; stop federal government from profiting off student; it is estimated that the federal government makes a profit of over $110 billion from student loan programs. Step three; cut student loan rates; this will help benefit those who are in debt because they will be able to pay their debt due at a reasonable amount. Step four; allow the refinancing of student loans. This step is similar to refinancing a car or home because when refinancing the monthly payment lowers to a more reasonable amount. Step five; allow students to use need-based financial aid and work study programs to make college debt free. The fifth step will help students of the lowest income to continue their education without the fear of going into debt. Lastly, and most important, step six; Impose a tax on Wall Street speculators. The speculators are not very happy about the final step to making tuition free college, but if the people want it Bernie shall achieve it. Sanders also wants to make comprehensible strategies to help with immigration. Bernie said; “We are a nation of immigrants. I am the son of an immigrant myself. Their story, my story, our story of America: hard-working families are coming to the United States to create a brighter future for their children. The story of immigrants is the story of America, a story rooted in family and fueled by hope. It continues today in families all across the United States.” ( A Fair and Humane Immigration Policy). Among these strategies there is a plan to allow immigrants to purchase health coverage, dismantle inhumane deportation programs, regulate future flows through a reformed visa system and reworked trade agreements; among other strategies that will secure our borders. Bernie wants to work on keeping family together instead of separating them. In addition to the free college tuition and Humane immigration policies another plan Bernie Sanders has is Peace and War.
This plan not only will help keep our loved ones home but it will also protect our country. Bernie said, it is important to protect our freedom but he also mentions that before resorting to military action we seek diplomatic solutions. In other words it is time to talk and analyze a situation before sending our troops to foreign lands. Some may find Bernie to be a hypocrite for wanting peace instead of war but like his mentioned, "I have supported the use of force only when it was the last result and America's vital interests were at stake" (Bernie, War and Peace). Although Bernie has okayed some force, there are wars him and other member have voted against such as First Gulf War and the Iraq War. "While we must be relentless in combating terrorists who would do us harm, we cannot and should not be policeman of the world, nor bear the burden of fighting terrorism alone"- Sen Bernie
Sanders. Various issues are discussed to make our country great/better place to live yet issues such as climate change are often times ignored and put to the side because they are not important. Bernie on the other hand says climate change is real and it need to be dealt with. "Enough is enough. It’s time for a political revolution that takes on the fossil fuel billionaires, accelerates our transition to clean energy, and finally puts people before the profits of polluters"- Sen Bernie Sanders (Sanders, Combating Climate Change). Bernie's plan to keep our planet alive consist of cutting U.S carbon pollution 40% by 2030, create a Clean-Energy workforce, and most importantly ban fossil fuel lobbyist from the White House. The last step is stated as the most important because if the lobbyist are kept out of the White House than members will not be bought by the lobbyist to support their ideals; This will allow for members to see the facts and make their decision upon facts and statistics instead of the many zeros handed to them. Bernie Sanders although a lovely elderly citizen now, has a story like everyone else. Yet he is probably not ashamed to present his record like some of us maybe because it shows his ambitions to fight for what he believes is morally correct. There are times when some may mention that Bernie has a criminal background and it is true. On the other hand, his criminal background is a background some applaud and present with pride. Bernie lead sit-in demonstrations against segregated housing on the University of Chicago campus which in 1962 got him arrested. Bernie participated in the Marching in March Washington. Bernie also marched along the side of Martin Luther King Jr and was present when King presented his "I have a dream" speech. Bernie has not only fought for civil rights than but is continuing to fight for civil rights today. Although Bernie is the man for the White House the polls must be included to conclude the final decision. Bernie as mentioned before has the popular vote of many young democrats but his polls wins vary so far Bernie has won a total of 1454 delegate votes compared to running companions Hillary with 2228, and Trump holding up with a total of 1068 (Associated Press, Primary Results and Predictions). Now as some may have read or heard Bernie is not being funded by big corporations instead the money for his campaign have been entirely off donations from the general public. It is said that the average donation was $33.51 and 99% of donations were under $250.The funding of Sanders campaign has been done entirely online and at rallies (Dan Merica, CNN). Bernie is not the only running candidate for presidency but he is the right choice. For example, running for Republican President is Donald Trump; he is famous for being a business man but in reality has had various businesses fail due to his inability to handle them properly. For starters, in an issue for the rolling stone their is an article titled The Many Business Failures Of Donald Trump which listed various businesses started by trump which failed such as GoTrump.com a Travelocity powered search engine which would allow people to travel Trump style started in 2006 shut down a year later, Trump Magazine had a good start in 2007 once again shut down (2009). There are many more failed businesses of Trump but the point being is that this man believes that a "good Business man should become President to make America Great Again" yet, he couldn't even manage to keep a magazine business going. Not only is Trump a awful Business man but he has been linked to having similar views and ideas to those of Adolf Hitler. Aside from running Republican Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton is Sanders leading competition for the Democratic Presidency. At this moment Hillary is leading the primaries with a total of 2228 delegate wins. Due to previous attempt for presidency we have seen Hillarys' views change throughout her career which is not a bad thing but at the end of the day can we trust someone who can not make a decision and stick to it. On the bright side Hillary is not a amateur when it comes to politics. She served as Obama's Secretary of State and was the First Lady while her husband was in office. Hillary has the experience to become president and if it comes to choosing between Trump and Hillary; Hillary is the better choice. On the other hand, Bernie is still a popular vote among young democrats. Statistically speaking the wins are not the greatest for Sanders but there is hope. Hope that the man who fought of Civil Rights in 1962 will win and fight for the Civil Rights of the minorities who are constantly being attacked today. I have hope that Bernie will keep us educated, healthy, and stop the separation of thousands of undocumented parents from their children. I have hope for a better future not just for myself but for my family and friends. The appointment of Bernie Sanders to the White House will bring positive changes to our country. Sanders wants to improve our educational system; by doing so it will help get the younger generations ready to take and care for the country. Sanders will improve the health care act so even undocumented residents of the states can get the medical attention they need. Bernie will implement humane immigration policies that will help unite and keep families together. There are endless policies of which Bernie will use to not "Make America Great Again" but to "regain our government because it belongs to us, and not a handful of billionaires" -Bernie Sanders.
To hold up his claim of such a policy, he uses three supports during the speech. The first support is that “if we do not defeat these enemies now, we will leave our children to face a Middle East overrun by terrorist states and radical dictators armed with nuclear weapons.” To back up such an idea, he uses two backings. The first backing is “if we pull out. they (the terrorists) will not leave us alone”.
We will come together to give law enforcement the additional tools it needs to track down terror here at home. We will come together to strengthen our intelligence capabilities to know the plans of terrorists before they act and to find them before they strike. We will come together to take active steps that strengthen America's economy and put our people back to work.” (Bush
Bernie Sanders is running for President of the United States of America as a democratic candidate. His competition for the primary elections is Hillary Clinton, a well-known politician with plenty of experience under her belt. Bernie is running as a non-traditional candidate, which is a main factor of why his campaign is extremely successful and popular with the American people. A recent political ad released by Sander’s campaign team called “Real Change” emphasizes his family values and dedication to the working class, fighting for the votes of the average American. The ad implies Bernie is the right man for the job due to his long history of experience and commitment to the issues he believes in. This political ad illustrates how Bernie
Many political analysts argue that engagement is an important characteristic of democracy, yet the younger generation is indifferent towards politics. They’re more interested in the latest iPhone technology than in campaigning or voting. In The Good Citizen: How a Younger Generation Is Reshaping American Politics, author Russell J. Dalton counters this with the idea that Gen X’ers are still engaged, just in a different way.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.
Toward the end of the legislative session, fear rises as bills line up at the Texas governor’s desk. With the governor’s power of vetoes, it seems that lawmakers in Texas are losing their power. In Texas, the governor, Greg Abbott has the power to veto any bill that is present to him with no limit. During the recent session, 6,968 bills were sent to the governor’s desk for approval. Abbott will not make a decision until the legislative period is over to avoid challenges and to make his decision permanent. During these last few weeks of the legislative period, the governor holds a tremendous power over the lawmakers. Lawmakers are inclined to “curry favors” with the governor in order to get their bills passed. Greg Abbott, for example, has
“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe”( Douglass). This famous quote epitomizes the philosophies of Frederick Douglass, in which he wanted everyone to be treated with dignity; if everyone was not treated with equality, no one person or property would be safe harm. His experience as a house slave, field slave and ship builder gave him the knowledge to develop into a persuasive speaker and abolitionist. In his narrative, he makes key arguments to white abolitionist and Christians on why slavery should be abolished. The key arguments that Frederick Douglass tries to vindicate are that slavery denies slaves of their identity, slavery is also detrimental for the slave owner, and slavery is ungodly.
Bernie Sanders, a United States Senator from Vermont, is running for the presidency in 2016. Being 74 years old, Bernie has much experience in the political world and has many bright ideas for the future of the United States. Democratic and straightforward, Bernie is taking on the world supporting the middle-class and trying to stop the billionaires from buying the elections and candidates. Bernie has a set of consistent principles that he has gone by during his whole political life. ‘Bernie Sanders – The President We Need’ is the campaign ad, which has been seen by over 300,000 people. In this ad, Bernie Sanders uses effective speech language, facts and statistics about the political world, and video clips in order to show his supporters what he is doing to gain more supporters so he can become the future President of the United States.
Bernard “Bernie” Sanders, is one of the best candidates for this years 2016 presidential election. He is the junior United States Senator from Vermont. He has demonstrated his passion towards an equal and stabilized country. Sanders is a man who believes in a country that is equal and all voices should be heard. Socioeconomic issues are to be heard of by all people because these issues are what make the people and the country. His propositions to a better socioeconomic country will better the relationships we have with one another. Voting for Bernie Sanders, means voting for a country that will be equal to all the people living here. A country deserves to be united by all the people living here regardless of race. We are all human, we all deserve
Bernie Sanders is the former senator of the state of Vermont and is currently running to be the democratic representative in the 2016 Presidential Election. Bernie Sanders has stated that he is a socialist democrat but it is unclear whether he is either a socialist or a liberal. His statement is unclear because on some topics he takes on more liberal view than a socialist view. Bernie Sanders is known for being a strong believer of the government helping out the economy more and having the wealthy pay more taxes. He wants less poverty in society and help it have a consistent middle class. Two issues that I agree with Bernie on is his views on helping the economy and his views on the war on terror. Bernie Sanders is a strong supporter
While both black and white people fought over segregation versus desegregation, black people defended their freedom and civil rights while white people focused on isolating black people and treating them as under classed.
The usage of strategies in my interpretation statement was how Rushkoff used methods of persuasion, fear, and the aim of cognitive approach to show that looking toward the future was more beneficial than the present. The strategy I have used on writing this paper was connecting emotional feelings to readers and insert hesitations of their situation by texts that could associate with them. Before, my statement was about how Rushkoff used logical reasoning to prove his claim. Now, is a new thesis, “Throughout the article, he uses examples that people in modern society would be able to connect to through strategies of pathos, ethos and a cognitive angle. As an additional supportive strategy Rushkoff did, he establishes fear in certain types of
Kim Davis is currently considered a hero of religious liberty to many Christians around the world but her “heroic acts” can very easily be identified as unlawful actions. Mrs. Kimberly Jean Bailey Davis was elected County Clerk for Rowan County, Kentucky, back in 2014. Luckily for her, the United States laws were not a problem when it came to her religious beliefs back when she was elected. However, on Friday, June 26th, 2015 the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples can marry nationwide, establishing a new civil right and finally giving gay rights advocates a well deserved victory. Recently Davis has chosen to expressed her religious beliefs at times where most would find inappropriate. She is a Christian with a particular set of views,
...usual” (qtd. in Miller). The side that helped Obama is supposedly the older half of the generation, and the side that is fed up with is politics is the younger half. Why, though, is there a divide in one generation? In Miller’s opinion, the younger members came to age during the recession, and therefore are less concerned with politics than their older counterparts, and more interested in finances.
I feel the ideal candidate for President should have strong military knowledge and at least some military experience. I believe he or she should be fair, strong and posses compassion. I support missile defense systems and homeland defense forces incase of an intrusion, but I believe there should be more training, the kind of training that the military have never encountered before. The president elect must be able to delegate power to train and equip troops properly and put them under proper rotations. Keeping the American people free and safe is of great importance. In my opinion, war should always be the last option, but I understand that sometimes there is no choice.
