Also commonly known as the Devil’s Triangle, it's is an area with its points in Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. The term “Bermuda Triangle” was created by Vincent Gaddis, but Charles Berlitz was the one to popularize it “in his bestselling 1974 book "The Bermuda Triangle"” (Radford) in which he talks about his believed connections of the lost underwater city of Atlantis and the Bermuda Triangle. There have been a great many incidents that have taken place in this area, one of them being when “the USS "Cyclops," with 306 men aboard, was lost at sea in the "Bermuda Triangle" in 1918 without a trace” (Cohen), and still hasn’t been found to this day.

He didn't tell his crew which was probably for the best since a few days later they threatened to turn back to Spain when they simply saw a bright light.
Supporting theories People have expanded on the ideas of Berlitz and said that maybe the crystal energies of Atlantis cause the sinking of the ships and planes.
There's the idea that maybe these ships and planes are destroyed by pockets of flammable methane gas which is known to be common in high levels under the surface of the ocean. It is considered possible that maybe a spark of electricity ignites a bubble of methane that surfaced near one of the boats or planes. There is also the theory of the idea of some strange patterns in the geomagnetic fields in this area. This could also be a good explanation for confusion of pilots who are said to have plunged straight into the ocean. It could even explain the reason for missing boats due to compasses reacting strangely to the geomagnetic fields.
Some say that the government is actually behind all of this and that the government is secretly working with aliens and that “ AUTEC (for Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center)” (Pujani) is a testing ground for reverse engineered alien …show more content…

Extreme weather could include sudden rogue tidal waves, rogue waves are “extreme storm waves” (National Ocean Service). These waves are said to be more than twice the size of waves surrounding them, unpredictable, and also said to come suddenly and unexpectedly from directions other than other wind and waves. there could also be underwater earthquakes since “scientists have found a great deal of seismic activity in the area” (Bin’s corner). There are even these phenomenons called waterspouts which are tornadoes at sea that have the ability to pull water from the ocean thousands of feet into the sky.
Another possible explanation could be pirates. For example, there were a lot of pirates around in the 1970’s and 80’s, and drug runners pirated boats a lot so they could smuggle drugs into a certain country. Also, during times of war, pirates could have easily hidden out and waited for boats of the enemy country to come along so they could attack
