The creativity and ingenious of human beings has enabled the development of technologies that have overall, benefited all of mankind. Arguably one of the most if not the most pivotal man made technological achievement is that of the internet. The internet has allowed for the seeming less transfer of data and information in a matter of seconds. With this innovation has come an increase in communication, enhancement of understanding other cultures, and a mass gathering of data. The amount of data now in existence due to the internet has created the need for big data. Big data has developed as a solution to the traditional computer infrastructure that has become obsolete due to its inability to handle the massive amounts of data now in existence. The benefits of big data are ever expanding and attractive as it can improve the efficiency of companies, research, health sciences yet, the consequences of using big data are just as intensifying and are causing some backlash in many communities. The current issues surrounding big data and the increasingly dependent nature of the world’s people on big data will undoubtedly impact the use of big data in the future.
Despite many people recognizing the power of the internet and the amount of data accessible by the internet these same people are unaware of big data itself. In all, there is an increasing use of big data by a number of different organizations, industries, and people. Many governments, researchers, scientists, and businesses are using big data to obtain information to further their goals. This obtainment of information by these parties is deemed by many as controversial and detrimental to the privacy of individuals. The debate about the use of big data will become more important as more and more information is gathered from a variety of sources. As the more data is collected the less private individual information will be. The topic of big data will grow in popularity as technology advances and more and more data becomes available to a number of different parties.

The personal connection Americans have with their phones, tablets, and computers; and the rising popularity of online shopping and social websites due to the massive influence the social media has on Americans, it is clear why this generation is called the Information Age, also known as Digital Age. With the Internet being a huge part of our lives, more and more personal data is being made available, because of our ever-increasing dependence and use of the Internet on our phones, tablets, and computers. Some corporations such as Google, Amazon, and Facebook; governments, and other third parties have been tracking our internet use and acquiring data in order to provide personalized services and advertisements for consumers. Many American such as Nicholas Carr who wrote the article “Tracking Is an Assault on Liberty, With Real Dangers,” Anil Dagar who wrote the article “Internet, Economy and Privacy,” and Grace Nasri who wrote the article “Why Consumers are Increasingly Willing to Trade Data for Personalization,” believe that the continuing loss of personal privacy may lead us as a society to devalue the concept of privacy and see privacy as outdated and unimportant. Privacy is dead and corporations, governments, and third parties murdered it for their personal gain not for the interest of the public as they claim. There are more disadvantages than advantages on letting corporations, governments, and third parties track and acquire data to personalized services and advertisements for us.
In short, the Big Data challenges for organizations and enterprises in today's digital age. Once mastered big data, they will have greater chances of success in today's competitive environment, the world would benefit more from the extracted information more accurately, more useful lower costs. Still the criticism revolves around Big Data, however, the field is still very new and we'll see in future Big Data will evolve like.

We live in a world that can’t live without binary code anymore. Computers have pervaded so deep in our lives that they are now being called ubiquitous. With phenomenal increase in users, has come a phenomenal increase in data. We generate a vast amount of data through activities on our computing devices making it necessary to employ intelligent algorithms which enable the system to learn from and analyze this vast dataset. Fortunately, the advent of Distributed Computing has created avenues to access virtually limitless computing power even through mobile devices thus, allowing us to use highly complex and large scale algorithms. However, with all this power under the hood, it is important to make the computers as usable and receptive to users as possible. I believe this interdisciplinary paradigm will have far reaching impact on industries, governments as well as our daily lives which is why I am so interested in research concerning Information Management and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Interaction, and Mobile and Internet Computing.
Each day, billions of people worldwide depend on the security of digital systems. From medical history and test results at a hospital, to financial information and account statements at a bank, or social connections and personal messages on a smart phone, nearly every facet of a person’s life has some component of personal data associated with it that is stored on a computer. Furthermore, new forms of personal data to collect are being identified, gathered, analyzed, and stored all the time. This growth in the collection of personal data is so immense that the amount of digital data in existence approximately doubles every two years, and large companies are responsible for creating about 80% of this data increase (Gantz & Reinsel, 2011).
Now days, companies are searching for new ways of gathering data so that they can get useful data in order to make well informed decisions regarding the market they are operating in. Google analytics is considered one of the best tools offers extensive amount of data to business owners for free. However, the success of business is highly depended on how well they can arrange data and customize their collected data corresponded to their business priorities. There are various kinds of definitions about what data mining is. The authors in [1] define data mining as “the process of extracting previously unknown information from (usually large quantities of) data, which can, in the right context, lead to knowledge”. Data mining is widely used in areas such as business analysis, bioinformatics analysis, medical analysis, etc. Data mining techniques bring us a lot of benefits. Business companies can use data mining tools to search potential customers and increase their profits; medical diagnosis can use data mining to predict potential disease. Although the term “data mining” itself is neutral and has no ethical implications, it is often related to the analysis of information associated with individuals. “The ethical dilemmas arise when data mining is executed over the data of an individual” [2]. For example, using a user’s data to do data mining and classifying the user into some group may result in a variety of ethical issues. In this paper, we deal with two kinds of ethical issues caused by data mining techniques: informational privacy issues in web-data mining and database security issues in data mining. We also look at these ethical issues in a societal level and a global level.
The approach to artificial intelligence should be proceeded with caution. Throughout recent years and even decades before, it has been a technological dream to produce artificial intelligence. From movies, pop culture, and recent technological advancements, there is an obsession with robotics and their ability to perform actions that require human intelligence. Artificial intelligence has become a real and approachable realization today, but should be approached with care and diligence. Humans can create advanced artificial intelligence but should not because of the harm they may cause, the monumental advancement needed in the technology, and that its harm outweighs its benefits.
Hadoop is a free, java based programming framework that usually supports processing of large data sets that are in diverse computing environment. Hadoop is a cluster computation framework. Apache Hadoop is a programming framework that provides support to data intensive distributed applications with a free license. The program was inspired by Google file and Google’s MapReduce system (Eadline, 2013). According to Eadline (2013), the Hadoop technology was designed to solve various problems such as to provide a fast and reliable analysis for both complex and clustered data. Consequently, different organizational enterprises deployed Hadoop with the existing IT systems, thereby, allowing them to combine old and new data in a strong framework. The major industrial players who used Hadoop technology include IBM, Yahoo, and Google (Lavalle, Lesser, Shockley, Hopkins & Kruschwitz, 2011).
In this new era of the Internet, most people use the Internet to acquire information of one kind or other. But what these people are not aware of is that the Internet is collecting information about them. Every time we get onto the Internet there might be a compromise of privacy of our personal information. The information flows both ways. With every clock of the mouse on a hyperlink, or an addition to the mailing list, someone out there might be gathering information about us. This raises the seriousness of privacy of our information on the Internet.
As can be seen, from the information presented, the need for laws and restrictions concerning internet data collection is greatly needed. Moreover, the government can search private citizens data without warrant or cause. Also, companies are not only collecting internet user data but also selling it. The companies and agencies who commit such crimes should be fined or either closed down. In closing, the privacy and security of individuals on the internet should be upheld by the United States government.
We’re heading toward a world where an extensive trail of information fragments about us will be forever preserved on the Internet, displayed instantly in a Google search. We will be forced to live with a detailed record beginning with childhood that will stay with us for life wherever we go, searchable and accessible from anywhere in the world. These words of the American legal scholar Daniel J. Solove seems to be true as the twenty-first century is progressing and the global society is becoming increasingly digitized. We are in an information age. According to the Internet World Stats, as of December 31, 2017, over 4.15 billion people are now connected to the Internet.
