Zoo captivity is substandard and inadequate for animals. Zoo animals are deprived of their right as animals they are treated unjustly and unfairly.Animals should not be forced to kept in a cage away from their natural environment and be used as a form of entertainment to humans. The animals also suffer from stress and are driven insane by being trapped behind bars. The zoo is supposed to provide safety to these endangered animals but instead, these zoo animals are put at risk towards a variety of dangers such as vulnerability to diseases and starvation. Zoo cavity is harmful for animals, they are used for entertainment purposes.

Zoo birds cages do not offer freedom to interact with their same species. Some animals develop neurotic behavior because they are being trapped in theses small closed spaces when compared to the vast ground and land in their natural environment. This condition is known as zoochosis, it occurs when the animals have become so lonely and unhappy from everything being deprived away from their natural habitat. Symptoms of zoochosis in animals are when animals are rocking, swaying back and forth and in some cases animals abusing themselves and eating their own limbs are an result from this condition. A polar bear named Gus at the Central park Zoo had to live in an enclose that was 0.00009 percent of the size of his natural environment/ habitat ( Smith 1). An elephant named Lucy at Edmonton zoo suffered from arthritis because during the winter seasons she was locked in a cage indoors and did not have much room to move around( Carr 1). They are forced to live in captivity and are deprived of their right as animals and are treated unjustly and unfairly. Animals are taken away from their home and family. They have no control over their own life everything is controlled by the zoo. What their next meal is going to be, who they mate with, where they live. Why should animals have this chosen for them? Humans are given freedom and equality shouldn't animals be given this right as well? All of us have come from the same ancestor we all are meant to have the same rights, yet here we are deciding the fate of these animals lives. Zoo animals do not get a choice in what their next meal is going to be. They eat what is fed to them. However, in their natural environment, they are in charge of what they are going to eat next no some human. Zoos decide who an animal has to breed with depending on if it will ensure that the zoos receive a desirable profit. Animals should not be forced to be breed with other animals that is is unjust and unfair because the zoo is taking away their right to decide their own future and what they want to do. Animals are traded with other facilities giving no regard to the separation between their families and friends.
