Do you think Marijuana should be legalized. I will give you 3 reasons why shouldn’t it be legal and why should it be.The issue is that California barely announced that Marijuana was legalized. But Marijuana is still a type of drug. I think Marijuana shouldn’t be legalized because first of all it smells bad and it's bad for your lungs. The first reason Marijuana shouldn’t be legalized is because Marijuana is bad for your mental health. For example,marijuana can impair thinking, memory loss and learning functions. Also, when the person smokes marijuana, THC passes through the lungs into the bloodstream. Then the blood carries the chemical to the brain and other organs. Marijuana or cannabis, according to the Federal Government is considered dangerous and addictive and is, therefore, placed on the controlled substance list as a schedule 1 drug, making its use and possession illegal, as well it is considered one of the worst drugs. It doesn’t do anything harmful to your brain, so I don’t see how it would cause problems for adults in the future that use marijuana. In my opinion marijuana should be legalized, regulated and sold safely for those who are at least 18 years of age. There are many reasons why I feel this way. The article also states that marijuana is clearly less harmful than legal drugs such as alcohol. If marijuana were legalized, the black market would see no other outcome than losing that capital to its competitor, state governments and hopefully the federal government as well. The theory that collecting taxes on marijuana, otherwise purchased untaxed through the black market, boosts state economies more than spending tax revenues on policing it as an illegal substance is a difficult theory to disprove.
In conclusion, there are pros and cons to making marijuana legal. There are also different way to consume and use it. Even though this is an "innocent" drug, it can have many unhealthy side effects for the body and mind. Several states made the choice to make it legal and others didn't. Ultimately, it is your choice to whether you want to use this drug or not. Although, before you do, make sure it doesn't go against your morals or what you believe you should be doing.
