Many people around the world do not have the privilege of attending college, and with this modern, advanced and competitive world I live in today, having a college level education and receiving a college degree is important for my journey into the professional world. My purpose for pursing college is to excel academically, to enhance my social life and communication skills, and to get exposed to new experiences that may or may not capture my interest but will reveal my likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, thereby teaching me more about myself. College is another road on my path to achieving a successful future in my desired career as a maritime lawyer. Likewise, the university will not only prepare me for the work world through education, but also through experience. Attending classes here on campus will enhance my to communication skills because I am a very quiet person and tend not to socialize much; however, college is much different from high school and in order to adjust to my college life, I have to communicate. Therefore, attending college will encourage me to come out of my quiet zone and to communicate with others and even get to know new people and make new friends. Also, because group work is often given in different courses, I will learn the skills of collaboration with others.
