Beneficial Resources and Services Searching for help around a community college campus can be difficult, especially to students who do not know what resources and services a school has to offer. Community colleges offer numerous resources and services to incoming and current students to allow them to have a better experience at school. These resources could be helpful to the students in ways that were not offered while attending high school. The purpose of having resources and services at a college is for students to seek for beneficial help around campus, so that their college experience isn’t horrible and that they don’t feel lost. Some students would never even consider looking for any help around campus, because many believe it’s a waste …show more content…
While attending college, many students struggle financially because some students have to pay for their tuition out of pocket. Not to mention that a one has to pay for books, which are expensive, but students also have to pay for other necessities. Fresno City College offers numerous resources and services to help out students with their economic struggles. One way that Fresno City College helps students with financial issues is that the school encourages them to apply for financial aid and scholarships. Financial aid is money that the government gives out to all financially deprived college students to help them pay for their tuition, books, and other school necessities. Although financial aid and scholarships might seem like the same thing, scholarships are financial rewards that are given to students who apply for these. By applying for financial aid and scholarships, students have more of a probability of getting financial relief to help them with their economic struggles to get through school without having to pay out of pocket. CalWORKs is a similar type of financial aid except that if the students who apply here get accepted, then the services provided to the students would include free academic counseling, book vouchers, and many other services to help them financially. Another resource that Fresno City College offers to students with financial struggles would be the Employment Resource Center …show more content…

Entry to community college allows just that. Addison explains, “just follow any one of the 1,655 road signs, and pop your head inside—yes, independent film, a first independent thought, a first independent study” (212). Many potential college prospects are turned away because this self-discovery found in community college cannot be found in private college; however, Addison insists that community college is the golden ticket to regain these would-be scholars. To begin, acceptance is necessary for admittance to many colleges—not community college. In the words of Addison, “down at X.Y.C.C. it is still possible to enter the college experience as a rookie” (213). Any student desiring education, preparation, and self-discovery does not need to look any further than community college, which, for some students, is the only shot at the college experience. On top of this, community colleges provide opportunities like no college—public or private—could. Community colleges provide introductory courses that could not be found in regular institutions; this allows students to explore and get their feet under them. To find and pursue an interest proves more difficult at a college because intense classes are provided from the beginning, whether students have declared a major or have yet to decide. In sum, Addison claims that an atmosphere designed
One of the biggest issues that many students and parents have concerning college education is the cost. Due to the state of the economy, affording college has become very difficult. Fortunately, the government is able to provide financial assistance in addition to the University’s own financial aid. Case is a private institution which means that it costs more compared to a public college. The tuition for Case was approximately, $38,000 in 2007 not including living or book expenses. Even though there was a tuition rate increase for every following year. The only way I was able to afford the tuition at Case was because of the scholarship I earned. In addition, I received federal grants and a substantial amount of aid from the University. I did not have a free ride but I received a great deal of financial help to pay for my college education.
Unfortunately, my family and I fall into an area of the middle class that prohibits us from receiving need-based aid. Although I have graciously been awarded the Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship, without some additional form of aid, a Seton Hill education may be prohibitively expensive. My fourth year’s tuition alone would cost $37,520 with my current scholarship, and I would still have to pay for living expenses. Once my undergraduate and fifth years’ expenses are included, I will be over $150,000 in debt when I graduate. As a student who has worked exceedingly hard in the classroom and as a leader for four years, this amount of financial burden feels like a punishment. If I do not receive the Seton Scholar Award, I am not confident that I can attend Seton Hill and make the impacts I have described in this
Financial aid is money in the form of loans, grants and employment that is available to a student to help pay the cost of attending. Financial aid comes from the federal government, which is the largest provider of aid, as well as state government, the school and a variety of other public and private sources.

In a recent study by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, student debt has reached $1 trillion in federal loan debt. Student loan debt has crippled the economy and students are struggling to pay off federal loans. In order to help students with the high tuition rates of college the government and universities offer
For the past few decades, receiving a college education has been a stressed importance in today’s society. However it is often misunderstood that attending a 4-year school is the best and only way to go. Following this belief, many students attend these schools with out being academically, financially, or mentally prepared. Unfortunately students like this have failed to over look the more realistic options available to them, such as community college. Junior college is a resource available to anyone regardless of his or her previous academic performance. The variety of courses and the inexpensive tuition gives students flexibility to explore the many options presented to them. Though Universities hold more prestige, community colleges provide endless opportunities for students who aren’t fully prepared for a 4-year education
After graduating high school, many students go to college for their additional studying. Among many colleges of United States, Cypress College is a school for many students who want to improve themselves for their goals. The Cypress College provides students diverse services: financial aid, library, learning resource center, and smarthinking online tutoring. The learning resource center is the most helpful service to students in the college because students can have tutoring time for asking subject questions, print documents, and use computers freely.

In fact, not everyone has the ability to pay for college every year. Students always need the support from their school and the government in order to continue their educational path and to acquire knowledge. Similarly, as the economy has slowly grown up, the government must take action to prevent the education to fall under as well. As a result, the government has authorized the Federal Student Aid for every college in the America, including Houston Community College, to help students pay for the college’s tuition. When the economy structure has affected my family, the government influence has given me the opportunities to go to college. By offering student’s grants and numerous scholarships, students just need to meet the requirements, fill in the forms, and send it to the Federal Student Aid. HCC also has the emergency loans, which an undergraduate can apply for and get the loan immediately when they need money to pay for expenses as textbooks and tuition. This special program is a benefit for everybody in school since the borrower does not have to wait for a long time for the approval. Furthermore, HCC Scholarship Foundation has numerous scholarships that students with different ages, religions, or race, can apply for. Such as medical field scholarships, engineering scholarships, scholarships for single mom, or Black History scholarship, … Equally important, the financial aid officers are always available there to help students go to through every step during the application process. The undergraduates don’t need to make an appointment before coming in as in another college, as in University of Houston. In effect, I have chosen Houston Community College because of the opportunities of receiving scholarships, student’s fund, grants, and loans that can support my educational path now and in the
There are many families were not able for the chance of college because they could not afford it. An example of this, happened to the Morais family. Richard Morais’s daughter got accepted into John Hopkins University. The whole family was happy, but with the acceptance letter was the cost for all of the expenses. This caused the family to take out student loans to allow the daughter to go to college. With her taking out the loans she will graduate being $200,000 in

I was able to assist my dad while he was going through a rough time with my mom. My dad knows who psychologists are, but being able to explain the significance of psychology and encouraging him to see one made me happy. It not only helped him recover with his personal issues, but also helped him understand what my mom is going through. In addition, this topic has impacted me for future use, not only for myself, but for others I can share this knowledge with. The importance of psychology, coping with stress, or knowing what the different types of psychologists can all be applied to my career towards junior personnel, through educating them, or the application of my everyday life, and benefiting my outlook.

Many students worry about financial aid. Do not apply to a school because you don't think that you can't afford it. In most cases things can be worked out.
