Often known as one of the greatest Greek heroes of all time, Bellerophon was the man most favored by the gods before Hercules. Bellerophon is the son of Poseidon and Queen Eurynome making him demigod. Queen Eurynomes husband was King Glaucus of Corinth who believed that Bellerophon was his own son and continued to raise him as if he was. At the age of sixteen Bellerophon set out to find adventure. Bellerophon befriends Proteus who was very jealous of Bellerophon. Because of this Proteus sent a sealed letter to his in-laws telling them to kill Bellerophon. Unaware of this, it is where Bellerophon's story starts.
Upon arriving with the letter to king Iobates the king read the letter and decided instead of killing Bellerophontes on the spot and possibly creating war with the Corinthians he would send him on a quest that he was sure he would

not return from. The quest that the king sends Bellerophontes on is to kill the monster Chimera. This monster has the head of a lion and tail of a dragon and has been terrorizing the village killing children and livestock. Bellerophon asks for advice from a local seer in Lycia on how to defeat the monster. The seer then tells Bellerophon that he needed to pray for a night and day in the temple of Athena for a way to tame the winged horse Pegasus. When Athena came in his dreams she gave Bellerophon's instructions to where to find Pegasus and a golden bridle and that with it he could tame Pegasus. The next morning Bellerophon continued to follow the directions he was told with the golden bridle that Athena had given him to a well from which Pegasus whent to drink. Bellerophon then hid and waited for Pegasus. When Pegasus showed to drink from the well Bellerophon pounced from his hiding place and placed the bridle over pegasus’ head. Pegasus fought to detach Bellerophon from his back but after sometime with no success Pegasus obeyed his new owner. Bellerophon then went on to complete his quest of killing the monster Chimera.“He engaged the battle, but couldn't came close enough to hit it with the arrows or spear, because of the fire expelled by Chimera. Soon, hero came up to the solution by attaching a block of lead to his spear and flew over the fire-breathing beast, dropping the lead from his spear into its mouth. The beast`s fire breath melted the lead, causing to block the beast`s air passage and consequently suffocating the beast.” (Greek-Gods) Bellerophontes then continues to cut the head off of the monster and take it back to the king to show that he has triumphed in his quest. The king upset that Bellerophon returned accomplishing his quest continued to try and indirectly kill him by sending him on quests that he thought no man could accomplish.
First the king sent Bellerophon to fight against the Solymi tribe. He accomplished this task by using Pegasus to fly above the army while he dropped boulders down on their heads until they were defeated. Once returning the king sent him to fight the Amazon army and he continued to defeat them in the same way he defeated the Solymi tribe. After the king's many failed attempts to kill Bellerophon he decided that he needed to try and assassinate him and risk war. Bellerophon continued to kill all sent to assassinate him. Then the guards turned against him but when Bellerophon prayed to his father Poseidon he continued to flood the castle. “As Bellerophon’s fame grew, so did his hubris. Bellerophon felt that because of his victory over the Chimera, and because he thought he was a god he deserved to fly to Mount Olympus, the realm of the gods.” (Wikipedia) The gods then continued to make Pegasus drop Bellerophon back to Earth and Zeus kept Pegasus as a pack

Hercules of 1997 got put together by one of the popular Disney directors, Ron Clements and John Musker. Their earlier works include “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and “The Great Mouse Detective,” which were movies that were astoundingly successful Disney movies that almost everyone enjoyed watching. Hercules without a doubt is one of my top Disney favourite movies, because of its really pop and melodious songs, and its simple yet very intricate plotline.

One characteristic that Odysseus had to be an epic hero was that he was highborn. Odysseus was Prince Laertiades of Ithaca. The goddess Circe knew he was highborn and addressed Odysseus with his formal name “Prince Laertiades…'; (p. 120). When his men feared that he was dead and Odysseus returned to them unharmed, from their hearts they said, “You are back again my prince! How glad we are…';(p.120). Also, because Odysseus had not returned home to Ithaca, many men tried to wed his wife, Penelopeia, so that they could rule his kingdom.
In the book The Odyssey the character Odysseus goes to fight in the Trojan War. The war has ended, but King Odysseus never returns back home. Since the King has been away, his home is being invaded by suitors. Prince Telemakhos, son of Odysseus, wants to find his father. The Prince knows he cannot go on this journey alone. He needs help, so Telemakhos decides to give a speech to the men of Ithaka. Unfortunately, Telemakhos cannot convince the men enough.

Myths and religious doctrine are generally recognized as two entirely different things. Myths are usually referred to as a fictitious story or a half-truth; often they are stories shared between groups of people that are part of a cultural society. Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, and purpose of the universe, and often containing an ethical code dictating appropriate human conduct. Although they differ in certain aspects, they still hold similarities. Comparable to parables within the Bible, myths have different versions which are both motivating, as well as entertaining. There are not only parallels to the idea of the stories but specific tales hold similar morals and equivalent characters.
Cassiopeia was the queen of Aethiopia (or Ethiopeia), the wife of King Cepheus and mother of Princess Andromeda. As legend has it, Cassiopeia was a very vain woman in regards to her daughter. Although there are different versions of the tale, it is regarded that Queen Cassiopeia insulted the daughters of Poseidon known as the Nereids, the sea nymphs of the Aegean Sea, by boasting that her daughter was most beautiful. The consequences of this bold statement were almost grave. The Nereids went to Poseidon to voice their distress over the matter and Poseidon reacted by sending a terrifying sea monster named Cetus to mandate the ultimate sacrifice: Andromeda herself. Her parents decided that the only way to save their kingdom was to oblige
They had similar beliefs, but also immeasurable differences. It was composed of many meaningful gods and goddesses that all played a part in the everyday life of the average Roman and Greek person of that time.

The Classical mythology contains tales and epics of the ancient Greek and roman literatures and myths. On the other hand, Homer’s two epic poems, the Iliad relates to the events of the Trojan War while the Odyssey details Odysseus expedition after the war. Homer’s epic poems, the Odyssey and the Iliad present a major part of ancient history as modern fictional heroic stories. In ancient Greek, heroes were humans who were depicted to possess superhuman abilities. A key example in the classical mythology is Akhilles who is later known in Homer’s Iliad as Achilles. Achilles is he greatest hero of the Iliad whereas Odysseus is the greatest hero of the Odyssey. The greatest heroes from classic mythology and the modern fictional hero’s stories are mortal, and subject to death. The Odyssey and the Iliad marks the beginning of modern fictional literature.
Relationship between Greeks and Gods in Hippolytus The play Hippolytus by the Greek playwright Euripides is one which explores classical Greek religion. Throughout the play, the influence of the gods on the actions of the characters is evident, especially when Aphrodite affects the actions of Phaedra. Also central to the plot is the god-god interactions between Artemis and Aphrodite.
There is a copious amount of major characters in the story. Some of them include Odysseus, the main character, who is a soldier and returns home after a twenty-year absence. Some of his family includes Laertes, his father, Penelope, his wife, and Telemachus, his son. There are many gods that Odysseus must battle on his journey home, including Zeus, who is said to be father of all gods, and Poseidon, the god of the ocean who punishes Odysseus and his crew by giving them a very difficult trip home after they blind his son, Polyphemus, or the Cyclops by blinding him after stabbing him in the eye. Another major character is Calypso, a sea goddess who is in love with Odysseus.
