Abandoned by my father when I was 13 years old has made the family's finances worse. Therefore, I am committed not to charge my education to my family. I had dreamed of being a winner in this prestigious event when I started college (2012). At that time, I read on the STMIK Mikroskil website that the campus representative failed to get a medal in the event. Therefore, I was determined that someday I have to be involved in the event. Three years later, I am very proud because my team and I managed to get the first PIMNAS medal for our campus. Moreover, our application which is Digital Periodic Table of Elements (KASKUS Kimia) can be useful for the wider community, especially high school students in Medan to increase their knowledge and quality of chemistry
Determination Generates Success Many people believe that students that encounter hard lives will commit academic sins. However, many professionals that successfully graduated college while having struggles in their lives, proved otherwise. In fact, Culpepper mentioned in his composition, “The Myth of Inferiority”, students might succeed in any academic institution, even if they experience hard lives (330). Also, he states that students with light loaded routines have the same chances to fail in college (330).

I was raised in an encouraging household where both of my parents greatly valued education. Although they were high school graduates, neither could afford to attend college; a combination of family and financial woes ultimately halted their path. As a result, my parents frequently reminded me that getting a good education meant better opportunities for my future. To my parents, that seemed to be the overarching goal: a better life for me than the one they had. My parents wanted me to excel and supported me financially and emotionally of which the former was something their parents were not able to provide. Success is something individuals aim for through all stages of life. Succeeding at university may entail passing courses, achieving learning goals and consequently graduating, while gaining some experience and exposure. At work, success could take a different form of gaining a job, accomplishing goals, and seeking promotions. While the definition of success may differ for university students and employees at an organisation, the basic principles and skills required are very similar. Individuals require both intrapersonal and interpersonal perception in order to achieve success, whether at university or work. Skills such as self-regulation, self-monitoring, implementing goals and strategies to achieve those goals, as well as harnessing good communication skills and formal relationships are key factors to success. It is with these perceptions that individuals can gain skills that can help overcome barriers to succeed.
This further fulfills the idea of being a “successful” person. Success should be measured by your own standards, not others. What makes your life successful and happy will not be the same for others, as theirs won’t be the dame for you. Being successful, and educated, all really revolve around how you view yourself, and what you choose to do and make with your life and the circumstances you’ve been given and have taken control of it.
