Being independent and keeping positive is challenging but ‘do-able’ with all the support from people, the right materials and staying in control. Work closely with your mentor but keep in control of your dream, your end goal. People do need people but we must not be afraid to let go of those that drain us and clog our thinking. Professionals are a great starting point for us to get a start that will put us on track to achieving a better life. Family and friends together with a good network of colleagues are vital for company, support and knowledge of what is out there and how to get involved. Many of us fall short of doing something that we truly want to do by finding so many excuses why we can’t. I’m so guilty of that. If I want to find a reason not to do something, it will pop up instantaneously, especially when l am asked the question of why I have not commenced. The usual reasons are that the preparatory work has not been done, or I have done too much and not carried it through, or I was just to uncertain of what all was involved.
