Many people know about or have heard about a magical place called Disney World. Children dream about this wonderful world filled with their favorite movie characters and dream of going to meet them in person. Disney World is a place where kids can be kids, and adults can feel like kids again. What people do not think about most often, when they think about this magical place, is the people behind the magic, or the person who made the dream alive for us to experience.
Before there was the idea of Disney World, there was Disneyland. Disneyland started as a dream but the dream became a reality, thanks to a man named Walt Disney. The idea of Disneyland began in 1951 when Walt met a movie art director, Harper Goff, who started to sketch out Walt’s ideas for the theme park. Walt Disney was all about making dreams come true and taking storytelling from two dimensions and making them into three dimensions. It would be very hard to not have heard about Disney because he has released so many different kinds of animations, but during the 1950’s Disney began to become less involved in the animation department, entrusting most of its operations to his main animators, the Nine Old Men, although he was always at story meetings. Instead, he started concentrating on other things. On a business trip to Chicago in the late 1940s, Disney drew sketches of his ideas for an amusement park where he envisioned his employees spending time with their children. These ideas developed into a concept for a larger enterprise which was to become Disneyland. Disney spent five years of his life developing Disneyland and created a new company, called WED Enterprises, to carry out the planning and production of the park. In March 1952 Walt Disney got permission to build Disneyland. Before his death, on December 15th, 1966, from lung cancer, Disney visited Marceline, Missouri several more times and never forgot the small town that influenced so much of his astonishing works. Disney’s theme parks created a whole new outlook for creativity and new building technology like audio-animatronics, which eventually brought his mechanical characters to life. Walt Disney has brought two theme parks to life because of his imagination. He never stopped chasing his dreams, even if they seemed impossible. Walt Disney World came after Disneyland and it is located in Florida. Disney World is known to be the "most magical place on earth" and the place "where dreams come true". Many people haven't been to the park, so they might be skeptical of the "magic" that is held within. Disney World is an educational wonderland. Disney World was founded October 1, 1971 by Roy O. Disney and Walt Disney. It wasn’t even thought of until four years after the first park Disneyland was opened in Anaheim, California. Walt Disney productions began looking for land for a second park and eventually found the perfect spot. Disney World is an entertainment complex in Orlando, Florida with four distinctly themed amusement parks, two water parks, and over ten resorts. According to Disney’s millions of guest, it is the master of “edu-tainment,” a way of entertaining and educating guest at the same time. Disney has a large selection of ways to “edu-tain” its guest. Its history, science, and animal exhibits are just a few ways children will learn while having fun. A Disney vacation teaches children new information and reinforces what children are currently learning in school.
