As a younger child, I grew up on a ranch surrounded by many animals. When I think of my future, I see animals. So earning my degree as a veterinarian at the Texas A&M University is what I hope my future will hold for me. I believe that Texas A&M University is one of the better colleges in Texas for my education to become a veterinarian because of their many different courses and classes. I am definitely sure that Texas A&M has what I need to become a veterinarian. I am hopeful that I will have the opportunity to be a fighting Aggie.
I plan on going to Texas A&M University for the classes and courses, as well as the sports. One way to get accepted into Texas A&M University would be you have to be in the top 10% of your class. I believe I can

do that because I am a member of the National Jr. Honors Society, which you have to have good grades and be well behaved. As a Honor Student, I have to have an average of above 93% which means that I have to keep up my grades at all times. Another way to get into Texas A&M University is to do well on my SAT and ACT exams. On my SAT, I would have to have a total score of at least 1360 with 620 score in Math and 660 score in Evidence Based Reading and Writing. On my ACT, I would need to have a composite score of 30 with a score of 27 in English and a score of 27 in Math. As well as academics, I plan to go for the sports that Texas A&M University offers to its students. I would hope to play softball for them. If I played well enough, I could tryout for a scholarship. Earning a scholarship would be another way to get into Texas A&M and help pay for college. If I get into Texas A&M I would be paying for my tuition, books and living expenses. My tuition would be about $5,604.44 per semester. A total for all my books and supplies would be around $1,054 per semester. As a Freshman at Texas A&M, I will need to live on campus in a residence hall. In order to save money I will need to have a roommate. After my Freshman year, I will consider staying on campus but looking for an apartment to share with other students.I feel that these living arrangements will best meet my needs socially and economically. Room and Board for the first year would be about $10,368 per semester. If I were to rent an apartment after my Freshman year, it would be around $4,626 per semester. That means my total per semester would range around $27,452. After college, I am planning on becoming a veterinarian.
Veterinarians work with animals, both big and small. The types of animals veterinarians work with vary from all different types and sizes. From small animals like your dogs, cats, or ferret to the bigger food animals like cows, horses, or sheep. Outside the clinic getting to client ranches and farms may be necessary to care for the larger breeds of animals. Annually, veterinarians salaries range from $52,530 - $157,390. Most veterinarians have to work inside and outside the clinic. As a veterinarian, you have to be able to analyze the situation and work through it even though it might not be the best . Veterinarians risk being kicked, bitten, or scratched by frightened animals that may have diseases, which could give them diseases. Veterinarians must be compassionate to the animals and to their owners. They must be able to stay calm when the pet owner is angry or upset. They also need to be sympathetic to animal clients and their owners. Being able to use their decision making skills to decide how to treat the animals on the spot is very important in being a good animal doctor. As well as decision making, they have to be able to communicate with others during an operation. One trait a veterinarian must have is manual dexterity, which is having steady hands for operations. Most often, veterinarians work night and day as well as additional hours. They must be ready at all times of the day or night to help sick and …show more content…
injured animals. As well as veterinary work, veterinarians also can do smaller service work on the side.
This includes work like volunteering my time at an animal shelter to assist neglected or injured animals. After I get my degree in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University, I will be able to provide medical care to abused and neglected animals at shelters. I believe these animals need and deserve a chance to be healthy and find good homes with a loving family. The ability to donate my time to less fortunate animals and people to make their lives better, will make me feel as a person
too. I believe earning my degree at Texas A&M University as a veterinarian is the best decision for me because of my traits and personality. I have very steady hands, good communication, and for the most part I think I make good decisions. Also, I think quickly in emergency situations, which is necessary to practice good veterinary medicine. I understand that Texas A&M University has a very strict and competitive requirement for admission. The requirements at Texas A&M University are designed to pick out the cream of the crop. I think with my grades and my test scores I will be able to be a competitive applicant. I truly hope that I can keep a high grade point average and score high on my SAT and ACT exam. I have loved being around animals my whole life. I think taking care of them would make me the happiest I can be.
Veterinary technicians are like the techies of the theatre; the organization would be able to function without them, but it would be much harder. Things run a lot more smoothly with vet techs. There are multiple benefits that come with being a veterinary technician. These benefits include, but are not limited to, a high job outlook, great room for advancement, and only two years of schooling (depending on the route you take). Above all, the animals, who aren’t always able to help themselves, are being taken care of.
Vet Tech has always been an option for me, helping animals is something that is very interesting. It was introduced in 1989, the AVMA officially adopted the name “Vet Tech.” In 1998, emergency vets debut on Animal Planet. And in 2008, student population grows from 500 to 700. There are about 17,000 people employed in the career field chosen. Some of the common trends of the job would be, working at Zoos, Aquariums, Boarding Kennels, and Wildlife sanctuaries. These jobs are usually found working in an animal clinic or hospitals and sometimes at farms because that is the “normal” areas for this occupation. In this career there are some general duties such as: Observe animals behavior and conditions, Provide nursing care, Bathe animals, Clip nails, groom animals hair, keep animals calm during exams or procedures. The more specific duties of the job would be to: take x-rays of animals and develop them, get utensils and prepare the animals for surgery, keep and record patient's history. Most of the clinics are open 24 hours. There is not anything that is unusual about the number of hours/nature of the job. (Bls.gov.vettech)
A vet tech can work in different work environments, such as animal hospitals, and private clinics. Working in various, environments create skillful tasks, which include: lab work, radiology, nursing care, surgery, x-rays, and assisting veterinarians in surgeries (Money Careers). Each of these tasks require their own abilities helping needy animals, for example: lab work deals with collecting samples of tissue, blood, and urine, nursing involves with taking care of the animals after the surgeries and checking on how their responding to the procedure (U.S. Bureau of Labor).
I have a plan to attend college once I graduate high school. I have not yet achieved that goal, but I hope to. I want to attend a two year school and study to be a Vet Technician. Hopefully once I do graduate college, I’ll finally be able to work with animals, My dream career. I’m unsure if I want to keep it simple and work in a shelter, or if I want to save lives and become a vet, or perhaps work as a zookeeper. Growing up. I used to always dream about opening my own “Pet Hotel”, maybe someday I could do that. Honestly, I don’t care much about what I do, as long as I’m happy doing it.
“The most successful Veterinary Technicians are passionate about the animals that they see on a daily basis and be able to control their emotions” (Career Cruising). The care of animals is very important so they don’t feel threatened by the Veterinary Technician and claw, bite, or growl at them. Veterinary Technicians must show their love of animals to the patients and their owners. many animals will feel the emotions that people give off and the animal can react to that emotion in a good or in a bad case bad. A Vet Technicians job is to be calm and not show emotions to the patient and family so the family won’t have emotional distress towards the clinic.
I believe as a veterinary technician I will be faced with many challenges and heartache on a daily basis. I will be introduced to situations that can be hard to bare--seeing animals that show the typical signs and symptoms of malnourishment and abuse. Having to unfortunately euthanize or observe euthanization of an animal due to a chronic illness or financial reasons by the caregiver(s)(“owner”). I will also vaccinate and administer medications to an animal under a veterinarian’s order and supervision. I will perform alongside the veterinarian with examinations and obtain bodily fluids such as blood, urine, or feces for further diagnosis. I will be present in observing and aiding an animal in need of medical assistance. I will fortunately be there to witness an animal walking on “all fours” along the path to their successful recovery. As a veterinary technician my purpose will be to allow the patient to feel and look healthy. I would love to see the caregivers’ faces change from concerned to relieved and thankful. I realize as a veterinary technician I will have to accept the good moments along with the bad.
For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.
For someone to be a large animal veterinarian and do the job well, one must have a passion for animals. You must have business skills and interpersonal skills. You need a passion for animals because you will work with them everyday for the
Many people have lost their pets and close family members because there is no way to get the help or medical attention that the animal so desperately needed. Every day in the United States, veterinarians are working hard to save animal’s lives. People will always continue to want and to breed pets. Therefore, to help and cure all these pets, a steady stream of veterinarians will be needed for many years to come. Over the years, the requirements and processes to becoming a veterinarian have changed. To become a successful veterinarian one must complete all necessary education and on the job training, be friendly and love animals, and have a burning passion to help both the pet and the pet owner.
In one way or another, I have been taking care of animals my entire life. Growing up, I was completely dedicated to animals, caring for what could be considered a mini zoo. Naturally, as a child, I was set on a career as a veterinarian. Like most children, I was naive about the veterinary profession, but I had plenty of people to warn me about its challenges. Albeit initially discouraged from becoming a veterinarian, my search for a meaningful career not only revived my spark for veterinary medicine but also gave me the maturity and experience necessary to succeed in it.
When I was growing up and always playing with animals, I realized what I might want to do with my life. Since animals are, for the most part, vulnerable and helpless, they need someone to take care of them. For animals in need to survive and carry on, there must be a caring person willing to take time out of their day to care for these animals. This person is responsible for providing care such as feeding, cleaning, giving water and administering medication to animals in veterinary offices, zoos, laboratories or animal hospitals. This person is called a veterinary assistant (Writer).
Veterinarians uses medicine to diagnose, treat diseases and dysfunction of animals. Medicine used such as antibiotics and vaccines. A veterinarian’s role in their career is to help and serve also trying to find a new treatment to disorders for humans and animals. Some vets teach other people or other vets how to do something.
If an animal is severely injured or cannot get well, the vet tech must be emotionally stable to help the owners deal with the loss and grief of their pets due to humane killings (Veterinary Technicians). arrangements. The American Association for Laboratory Animal Science offers certification to veterinary technicians who are interested in working in research settings.” (Veterinary Technicians). Veterinary technicians generally work 40 hour weeks but some technicians may work more than 50 hours a week.

I would like to work as a Large animal veterinarian. I would like to work as a Large animal veterinarian because they are trained to diagnose and treat illnesses that affect the livestock. They work mostly with horses, cows, sheeps, pigs, and goats. Another reason why I would like to work as a Large animal veterinarian is because when I was being raised, my dad taught me different things about large animals, especially horses and cows, like how to keep them calm, not to scare them, and what to do when they're scared. Another occupation that I was considering doing was to be a small animal veterinarian, unlike the large animal veterinarian, small animal veterinarians work with dogs, cats, birds, and other companions. The reason why I would consider being a small animal veterinarian is because I want to help treat small animals that might be sick or injured, as if they were my own
