My plan for the future is to become a registered nurse, and to work in a Hospice house and maybe other places as well. The number of years I spend in college will depend on which of my credits transfer. I have a year and a half left at Gaston Early College High School but after that I want to go on to college to earn my Bachelor’s degree in nursing. I want to become an RN because I will be able to work in many different facilities throughout my life. I also have room for advancement and job security. My college plans include attending a two-year college and then pursing a degree in dental hygiene. I believe that I will have a great opportunity to give back to my community with my chosen career. Once becoming an RN I plan on getting my BSN and am contemplating getting my master’s degree as well and becoming a nurse practitioner. There are many options in the nursing field so I can change jobs within the field if I desire.

When I was in elementary school teachers would ask students the generic question of what they wanted to be when they grew up. Immediately, I would respond I wanted to be a nurse. Now, I am an undergraduate student in college and still my answer has not changed.
