For my research project I have decided to research what is involved in becoming a personal trainer, (PT) - I would like to become a PT and travel around Australia. The refined question that has been chosen is; how can I achieve success as a personal trainer (PT) that travels Australia? This is something I would love to do after I complete school. I am currently doing my Certificate III in Fitness and almost ready to take the next step in to becoming a Personal Trainer. Not a lot of people have enough confidence in themselves or their bodies so they try so hard to become fit and eat healthy. Having access medical care, nutritious food and keeping weight under control is important (Ashford & LeCroy, 2013). Right now Precious is struggling in each of the categories. Per her treatment plan, Precious and I have decided she will implement a daily exercise routine as well as establish a primary care physician who will help her manage her HIV and the symptoms related to it. Eating healthy is not always affordable, and Precious is not just in charge of feeding herself, but 2 children as well. I have also been hurt many times and I know the importance of an athletic trainer. My interest in as an Exercise Physiologist intern with Henry Ford Health Systems I assisted in cardiac rehabilitation and exercise stress testing in addition to providing patients' education for proper physical activity and event lifestyle modification as a weight management consultant. Since finishing the internship I have been a practicing personal trainer since 2007 working with many types of clients from the everyday working mother keeping in shape to the athlete trying to reach the next level of competition. Recently, I finished a summer internship with the Central Michigan University Strength and Conditioning Department.

The job of an athletic trainer is simple yet very important, they are charged with treating, and preventing injuries. A trainer does this by developing therapies to reduce pain, and improve mobility (“Athletic Trainer Salaries”). They have to stand for long periods of time, work well with athletes of different sizes, move or carry equipment around, good mobility and communication skills to give instructions (“Athletic Trainer, Healthcare Program”). These trainers serve as a crucial part of an athlete getting back into their sport. Athletic trainers usually work under the direction of a physician, so they are like the Doctor’s healing hands in action.
What is Athletic training, and what could someone do with an athletic training degree? Athletic training is a unique field because it requires a strong mental and physical ability. These trainers go by many different titles such as: physician extender, wellness manager, rehab specialist, etc. Many trainers do not work under anyone, as they have their own office outside of the athletic setting. However, these trainer also work in many other places, such as: universities, hospitals and clinics, professional sports fields, military bases, etc. With a degree in this field, one might want, for example, to work in a hospital or clinic, as stated above. What would he/she be responsible for in this particular setting? A trainer working in a hospital would try to ease the pain of the injury and help move the patient through the process of the treatment.
Doctors who work at physical therapy clinics consistently encourage their patients to complete their therapy so that they can heal—although physicians may push their patient to move towards a healthier life, it does not mean that the patient will be open to suggestion; it would be up to the patient to truly decide to motivate themselves towards a healthier lifestyle—and until that happens the main service that a physical therapist can provide includes: education on lifestyle choices, and the consequence for each choice—how therapy can help the patient/how the therapy suits their needs, and how to set up a cost effective way to complete therapy.
