What is music? Music is the vocal or instrument (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. I personally believe that music is another form of art in a way. Music exemplifies what you feel and what you’re thinking in the same essence of art. Not only does music portray beautifulness, but music is also a form of communication as well.
It is honestly difficult to say when exactly music began. But, many believe that music can go back to early civilizations. Music is found everywhere; in the past and had eventually slowly evolved in the present. Music has been in existence for at least 50,000 years and was probably first invented in Africa and then evolved around the world. The earliest form

of music in Africa was by using the nature around them. Examples of this would be beating sticks and rocks onto trees and onto hand made drums. And during the Renaissance Era, the printing press was first used to print music. An example of music is a melody. A melody is a sequence of single notes and the main most prominent line of voice in a piece of music. And the melody is the line that the audience follows. The melody is also musically satisfying. A rhythm is also important in music. The rhythm is what keeps the music flowing and it’s for lack of better words, the “gasoline of music.” And lastly, the harmony in music is the combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords and chord progressions having a pleasing effect that are also important in music. I think that all music has its own beauty and every piece of music is unique. Music expresses what words cannot describe. Many people, including myself, use music as a getaway if you will. Music is pleasuring, and from the theories of psychology, researches have found out why music gives us so much pleasure. Listening to music satisfies our desires and when we hear notes that follow patterns that are pleasing to us, we are simply pleased. What makes me like music is the melody, rhythm, harmony, form, and what the song or music is making me feel/what it’s portraying. Not only do we, the audience, appreciate music, but the artists that produce the music is does well.
Many musicians and artists use music as a platform to do great things and to be recognized and eventually be rich and famous. And some play music and produce music because that’s their calling and they love doing it. “The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers.” (Roy Ayers). And many, use music as a get a getaway, an escape, or something that they know will always be there for them. “People haven’t always been there for me, but music always has.” (Taylor …show more content…
Swift). Music has definitely evolved over time. It has changed due to new technology and as our society changes, I believe that music changes as well. One example of how music has changed, is that it has more energy. Pop music has more or less grown more energetic since the 1940’s when Rock and Roll made its first appearance in the music world. Another way that music has changed, is that music is less organic, meaning that music today is more mechanized. This is where technology has changed music. Electronic keyboards, up to date software, and special microphones have made music have less of its organic sound. Everything that makes music such as the pitch, melody, rhythm, harmony, timbre, form, and texture, is the perfect mix to make incredible music.
I believe that music is one of the greatest creations in the world. Music creates a good atmosphere and it soothes the mind and soul. Think about a world without music. Not only will the world be dull and non eventful, but it wouldn’t be educational in a way. I believe that there is a lesson or something to get out of every song, and music is important because music can motivate, encourage, and energize you. Music has the ability to communicate to you this is why music can be a form of communication. “Without music, life would be a mistake.” (Friedrich
Nietzsche)
Oxford’s dictionary defines music: as vocal or instrumental sounds or both, combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. Music, as a form of expression and communication, comes in many forms and styles: classical, folk, country, rock, and electronic
Since the earliest days of human civilization music has been a key tool for communication of stories which carried emotions through them. If we think back to our youngest years of life music has surrounded us whether it was from our parents singing us lullabies or from some sort of toy that played music we can say that musical melodies have helped shape or lives one way or another. Once we start growing up and figuring out who we are our musical preferences change; some people like classical and some like punk. We start to befriend people who like the same music as us and eventually we may attend a musical event. Our lives somewhat revolve around the music that we listen to.
What is music? Where did it come from? Some forms of music date back to ancient civilizations of Egypt, China, India, Greece and Rome. Music can be used during every day activities such as working out, relaxation, for entertainment and also therapeutic uses. Music has been around for thousands of years throughout the world dating all the way back to prehistoric times proven by the digging up of a 9,000-year-old flute that had seven holes drilled into it to create a musical scale in China ("Prehistoric flute music:," 2000). Music went through numerous stages before becoming what we know music as today. The earliest periods of music were the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Periods which took place from the years 500-1760. The next cluster of periods were the Classical, Romantic, and Modern Periods which ended in 1930 to bring us to the most recent periods: Twentieth Century Period and the ongoing Contemporary and Twenty First Century Periods.

Music is an art that combines vocal and instrumental sounds to produce something that gives different emotions to the listeners. Music can make a person sad, happy and romantic at the same time. Playing an instrument is also a music, not only singing a song. I had this misunderstanding that music has the song and the musical instrument included in it. But I realized that musical instruments have more importance and beauty than a song including in it.

It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Music is the third most important thing to me in life outside of god and my mom. Music keeps me balanced. Every since I was a baby music was played around me. Jazz was always played around me to soothe me. There would be times when I would be really hyper acting like I couldn't sleep, my mom would put on some jazz and I would be fine. A lot of times I can have a long chore and I say to my self how can I accomplish this, Knowing it will take me forever. So I'll put on some jazz music and in twenty-five minutes I'm finished.
Music is that one friend that will always be there and will never judge us. It changes and has a huge impact on lives tremendously. There will always be that one song that can make a person get up and go. Sometimes, when we are sick it helps to take away some of the sorrow, pain, and it comforts us the best way it can. (White)

“An art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color” is music defined by Dictionary.com. This definition is for the most part is accurate, from a superficial standpoint, although it does not capture the importance of music as music is vital in the rehabilitation and development of others. For instance, music is a tool that can be very effective if used properly. Take small school children for example. More often than not, they are taught songs that are intended to help them remember important information Even if the child is unable to recount the lyrics of the song, they will most likely be able to hum the tune and recount the information. Music not only assists children, it also adequately aids adults. This is the case with the classical music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as it has been known to entice learning. Most people in our western society predominantly use the left sides of the brain but the music of Mozart causes both sides of the brain to work toge...
