Although considered the day Rock ‘n’ Roll was born, many other events in American history have given foundation to this much loved idea. Rock ‘n’ Roll is much more than just music, rather it is the movement which underlines cultural imperialism. Rock had been promoting a culture of comfort and freedom from social constraints as well. Although the style of ‘Rock music’ is easily adaptable into many different sounds, it is still thoroughly identified by its definingly amplified rhythm. The sudden worldwide popularity of rock and roll resulted in an unparalleled social impact. Rock ‘n’ Roll influenced lifestyles, fashion, attitudes, and language in a way few other social developments have equaled. The social impact is so large that rock stars are worshipped worldwide. In its early years, many adults condemned the style of music, placing a stigma on its name, and forbid their children from listening and following its ways. During the 1960s, and especially during the years following the British invasion, television played a key role in igniting the popularity of several American bands. “American response” bands such as Paul Revere and the Raiders and the Monkees gained considerable success due to the air time they received on TV. It was at this time that three main shows were providing coverage on new musical acts—both British and American alike—and these shows were being targeted towards a teenage demographic. CBS’s Where the Action Is, ABC’s Shindig, and NBC’s Hullabaloo were all major factors in the blossoming careers of the American response bands. This occurrence can also be attributed to British invasion bands such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, who ...
It all started in Liverpool, England where four members brought their dynamic lyrics and amazing musical beats to the world. As soon as you say the word “Beatles,” everyone knows that they were an extremely popular band who paved the way for modern day Rock n Roll. People either grew up listening to their songs, know of the band, or they are still riding on the “Beatlemania bus.” Before taking this class, I knew a moderate amount of information on the Beatles. It was known that band was made up of four members; John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. However, I never looked at the way the music was produced. The different melodies, tempos, keys, and other music essentials were foreign to me, but throughout the spring semester, we, the students, have gained musical knowledge based off the music of the
The Beatles was not only artist with good songs. They were more than artist who truly influenced lives that had them.
