Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the first Beatitude. It tells us that we should accept people for who they are and not the material things they have. You should not treat a person who lives in a nice house and drives a nice car any different then someone who lives in a less desirable house and drives an old car. You should treat everyone how you would like to be treated. Just because someone can not afford some of the things as you might be able to does not mean that they are a bad person. We should accept everyone into our community. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. The second Beatitude tells us that we should refuse violence and to be patient and God will be with you. You should not choose violence as a way of solving a problem. Many teenagers today turn to fighting, drugs and alcohol as a way of getting rid of their problems. If they would step back and get help and let God into their hearts and life they would realize that violence dose not solve everything. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. This Beatitude tells us to make good choices, just because it is a good choice you are making for yourself dose not mean you will be in the most popular crowd.
