In Beasts of the Southern Wild it quickly becomes apparent in the Bathtub family isn’t just your Father, it’s everyone. Working together to thrive in a harsh wet land so much to the point that almost every night it another holiday, another celebration. However in this land if you want to thrive you have to have a strong will. Most lose their wills before the storm hits. While Hushpuppy grows stronger, Winks fades. Throughout our story Hushpuppy, a six year old, shows she’s a strong willed individual, while also listening to the world around her. When we first meet her we find her listening to her pets heart beats and saying how they talk in code. Where animals usually says things like, “hungry!” or, “thirsty!” But to Hushpuppy they say other things through their heart beat. While that's just the one of few ways she listens to the world around her, some ways are through her dreams. Hushpuppy is still in school, where Miss. Bathseeba teaches her students about the Auroch. He actually writes in his article called “Beasts of the Southern Wild” saying, “In “Beasts of the Southern Wild” an ethnically mixed community of raffish survivors cling to a tiny strip of land on the wrong side of the levee—way out in the Gulf of Mexico, southwest of New Orleans.” He then continues to talk about how the entire Bathtub it's a total disaster even before the storm hits. He even continues to pull down the movie giving it negative marks in the narrative and even the characters. I entire disagree though do believe this movie was artfully placed together to show a thriving happy community and would have conninuted that way if those on the grid did not react quickly to global warming.
