I was sorry to see that when “Batman and Robin” was released in 1997 that Batman was portrayed by George Clooney. Somehow I just couldn’t put him in that role. However it was an exciting film with lots of action and interesting villains. Arnold Schwartzenegger as Mr. Freeze and Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy and helping Batman was Robin by Chris O’Donnell. In 2005 we got a look at what Bruce Wayne’s childhood had been like in “Batman Begins” starring Christian Bale as Batman. Amazingly this movie got the best reviews of all of the other movies and was a huge box-office
Batman, Robin , and Alfred the butler are all in the quest movie The Dark Knight Rises. Batman is the quest hero, Robin is the helper/guide, and alfred is the wise old man who gives advice. This quest story has a lot in common as the book True Grit by Charles Portis. In the quest novel Mattie Ross fits the description of the quest hero. Reuben (Rooster) Cogburn fits the wise old man because he acts as a fatherly figure towards Mattie Ross, and knows the gang that Tom Chaney (the villain) is with. LaBoeuf fits the helper guide because he is Helping to catch the murderer Tom Chaney.
Batman was created after Detective Comics (D.C.) wanted a new super hero to follow-up after Superman. In May of 1933, Bob Kane and Bill Finger created Batman. Bob was born on October 24, 1915 and died November 3, 1998. Bill was born February 8, 1914 and died January 1974. Bill always loved comics as a child and still when he went to high school at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx New York. He and Bob went to the same high school but never socialized because they were in different classes. Bob meet Bill when Bill was working as a shoe salesman. They worked on many comics together for kids comic books and local newspapers. When they found out that Detective Comics (D.C.) wanted a new super hero they went to work. One day Bob came to Bill with a character, Batman. Bill liked the idea but said it looked too much like Superman. The original illustration had a Robin style mask and red outfit. So Bob took a Webster’s Dictionary and found a picture of a bat. He added bat ears to the mask, giving the full mask a more mysterious look. He changed the colors to black and yellow and added a cape that was cut like bat wings. When writing the comics Bill made Batman’s personality a...
Helen Keller stated, “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” This quote speaks to Batman`s (Bruce Wayne`s) drive and ambition to get justice for his parents death. Batman becomes what people consider a vigilante because his parents were killed. In the Batman films, Christopher Nolan’s 2008 The Dark Knight and Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman, the audience can observe the similarities and differences in each film. In the films Batman is played by two different actors, Burton`s Batman is played by Michael Keaton and Nolan`s Batman is played by Christian Bale. Burton`s Batman and Nolan`s Batman go through similar obstacles and struggles, but they use different resources and, have
In The Dark Knight, the second film of Christopher Nolan's trilogy, Batman (Christian Bale) teams up with Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) to clean up the streets of Gotham City. However, a wrench is thrown into their plans with the appearance of the incredibly disturbed and sadistic criminal known as The Joker (Heath Ledger), who aims to stop their “war on crime” by causing destruction and havoc. He begins his crime spree with a bank robbery and then uses the money he gets from it to stage a variety of devastating stunts. The movie is regarded most highly for Ledger's performance, but another important factor in the films success was Nolan's more plausible interpretation of Batman and his story. The film brings out a version of the hero that is less camp and kitsch and more gritty and real, at the expense of the franchise's fun, but to the addition of a more relatable story.
In order to truly understand the things that Batman does, one must know how he came to be. Batman’s true identity is that of the multi-billionaire owner of Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne. The first movie in the Dark Knight trilogy, Batman Begins, tells the story of how Bruce came to don the cape and the mask of Batman, from the perspective of the director, Christopher Nolan. When Bruce was a boy, he was leaving a theatre with his parents Martha and Thomas. As they started walking down the alley to get home, his parents were shot and killed by a mugger. This traumatic event happens right in front of Bruce without him doing anything to stop it as he is stricken by fear and powerless. Years later, Bruce starts training with the League of Shadows, a group of assassins that live the mountains. Under the tutelage of their leader Ra’s al Ghul, Bruce it taught that to “conquer fear, you must become fear, you must bask in the fear of other men,
“Lythe and listin, gentilmen / That be of frebore blode; I shall you tel of a gode yeman / His name was Robyn Hode” (A Gest of Robyn Hode). The tale of Robin Hood has been told many times in verse, in prose, in play and in film, with the writers, directors and singers offering almost as many versions. In 2010, Ridley Scott presented his take on the tale with the movie “Robin Hood”, starring Russell Crowe in the titular role. Ridley Scott reimagines the tale to be set in the last year of the eleventh century with scenes ranging from France to London to Nottingham. His goal is to tell how the legend of Robin Hood began and thus it tells of his return to England, followed by a rise to fame in battle with the French and culminating with his becoming an outlaw. While the film is entertaining, the historic basis is questionable.
In the 1989 Batman film, before the Joker was introduced as the Joker, he was a man named Jack Napier. As a young man, Jack and his partner in crime mugged and killed Bruce Wayne's parents. Before murdering
From what we know about his past, Wayne had a pretty normal childhood until one day when he witnessed the murder of both of his parents’ murder. Since that day, Wayne decided to rid Gotham of the evil criminals like the one that taken his parents from him. That day released a part of Wayne he never though possible; a dark side. He fought, tortured, and injured every criminal in Gotham in order to avenge his parents’ murders. Although he is seen as a hero by the general public, some critics believe he is the true villain of the film because of the mayhem he causes in Gotham while dueling with the criminals. After looking at Batman’s history, it is clear that he began his life as a vigilante after his parents’ death in order to get revenge on the criminals who killed his
Batman (Christian Bale) is hoping to hand on his crime fighting duties to D.A Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) yet when Batman’s cards are on the table the twisted mastermind who goes by the name of the joker (Heath Ledger), forces the masked vigilante to go against everything he ever stood for.
We all know that Robin has always played a part as Batman’s faithful sidekick. The most famous one of all the Robins over the years is Dick Grayson who is the original Robin. Known also by the moniker Nightwing, he hung up the Robin cowl, handing it to Jason Todd.
While the Batman’s are facing certain obstacles so are the villains. The villain in each movie is the Joker. The joker character is a sadistic genius. Batman: 1989 has the Joker created by being exposed to chemical waste while The Dark Knights Joker just appeared in the city. Both Jokers’ main...
Now, Batman did not magically just appear from thin air. What drives him to do what he does? Tragedy. Batman before Batman was a normal rich boy named
He couldn't go as Batman, so he had to get it as himself. He got an invite to a formal event. He got a tip that all the crime bosses would be there to discuss an important matter. Bruce figured that one of them had to know about the Joker. He brought his uniform just in case but was hoping not to use it. He arrived in a stunning shiny Rolls Royce, drawing all the attention to himself. He made small talk with the other guests, while everyone else arrived. Bruce was just about to confront the shady businessmen when someone had went on the stage. The person asked,"Does anyone want me to perform a trick". Everyone’s eyes were on his as he turned around slowly. The man had green hair, pale skin, and bright red lips. He basically looked like a clown. Bruce immediately knew that he was the Joker. Joker placed a block of TNT on the floor and let out an evil cackle. No one else could see what he had done because they were so far away. Bruce tried to disarm it, but it was of no use. He then tried to inform everyone to run, but they were clueless. He suited up in his costume and tried to get Joker, but by then he was long gone. Batman took the bomb and started swing from building to building with his grappling hook. He tried to get it as far away as possible from anyone when the timer ran out and boom. The whole building collapsed and he was stuck in the middle. He lifted the huge rock and
The plot of Batman Begins mainly focuses on the origins and psychology behind Batman, and how he copes with the struggles he faces. One major thing that changed the course of the story, was the death of the Thomas and Martha Wayne. It formed an emotion change in the story that effects Bruce Wayne and all of Gotham to arise the struggles and problems that will be faced in the rest of the movie. Another key point in the story was the seven-year disappearance of Bruce Wayne. When in the Chinese prison it would also discipline him, which was something that he hadn’t had much of before. The meeting of Ras Al Ghul and his further training were also key experiences to develop Bruce Wayne into Batman. These were the some of the building blocks in the plot. The plot of The Dark Knight was very different to Batman Begins. The main plot is that Batman has limits and Gotham needed a different hero, whereas, in Batman Begins, Batman was the hero and didn’t think he had any limits. The foundation of the Dark Knight was more of what had happened in the few absent years between the two movies, and not what would happen. The
Good thing Hackman did take the role, because he ended up winning a Golden Globe for his performance. The film having as much star power as it did probably swayed more average moviegoers into seeing it. A typical movie going audience reacts differently to a film depending on a number of different factors. These factors can include the type of film, the nature of the viewer, level of identification, ideological perspective and aesthetic considerations. One of the most important ones in relation to TRT would probably be the type of film.
