Hello Everyone,
Let me first apologize about the amount of emails that have been sent and the hectic first week of basketball about the practice schedules. I know everyone is busy, so it's hard to have a time that is going to be good for everyone, but thank you for the patience and support. Good news though, we have figured out our practice schedule, so it will minimize the conflict that was happening with band. Instead of 3:45 on Mondays, we will now be starting at 4:15, that way the girls will only be missing 15 minutes of practice instead of the 45 minutes. However, our principal does not like the kids hanging out in the halls after school waiting for basketball to start. I am hoping to get a couple parent volunteers that can come after
I have been selected to organize an event by a local sorority to put on three on three basketball tournament in which all proceeds will go towards a child in the Make A Wish Foundation. The tournmanent has only been limited to college students, we would like invite other community members to join in on the tournament. The tournament will take place in the middle of the spring semester.
Today I am taking a break from the series of articles I usually write, to bring you a subject I have thought about for a long time. I only started paying attention to wrestling in my teen years, so the "Attitude Era" was what I considered wrestling. I won't go into what made the era special, because that would be insulting to your intelligence, everyone knows what made the era successful, and why some fans still pine for it. Needless to say, it was "cool", it suited the times, and it broke the mold formed over the previous decades.
It’s one of the greatest debates right now in modern time sports. Who is the greatest basketball player ever? Is it His Airness, or is it King James? The debate on whether Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the greatest basketball player ever is a prevalent topic in sports news daily. Many people believe that LeBron James is the greatest basketball player to be currently playing and also the greatest player to ever have played in the NBA. My theory, however, is that rather than LeBron James, the greatest basketball player to ever have played the game is Michael Jordan. Although I agree with the claim that LeBron James is the best current player in the NBA, I believe that he is nowhere near being considered better than Michael Jordan.
The FIFA survey continues to prove that soccer, A.K.A. football, is the world’s #1 sport. There are about 240 million people in the world that play soccer from more than 200 countries. It is one of the most popular sports in the world that many people play now. It does take some time to learn the sport but, it shouldn’t be hard to learn it if you have the time and, put in a lot of effort.
“Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!” These were the words spoken by ESPN’s Mike Breen during Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, describing one of the best defensive plays in NBA history. Hello, I am Steven Lai, and we are here today to celebrate LeBron James. We celebrate him because he is one of the greatest basketball players on the court and off the court. As a huge LeBron fan, I can tell you all why we are here to celebrate him. To celebrate LeBron James, I will talk about his accomplishments in the NBA, his social activism, and his charitable acts.
Erin Franklin Mrs. Bauch 5th Hour Speech 18 May 2016 How many of you know that the Summer Olympics are in Rio this year? What has been happening to Brazil will possibly serve as a lesson to other countries wanting to host the Olympics (Navarro-Garcia). The 2016 Summer Olympics are expected to bring in around 500,000 people to Brazil (? Zika concerns mount?).
Most players that enter the NBA draft early are 19 or 20 years-old. They are going to end up playing against 25-year-olds that are stronger, faster, and that have had more experience than they have. Along with more experience, they will not be as physically fit because one or two years of college will not do it, and high school will not do it. For example, Lebron James. He is considered one of the best to have played the game, and he went straight out of high school. Imagine if he had gone to college, he would be so much better. So if they leave after the freshman or sophomore year, they will be about five or six years behind and that will make it harder to get a spot on the bench. If they do not make it to the bench, then they will be in the D league for 2 or 3 years to help develop their skills. “The D-League uses a tiered compensation system that's based on experience. Players with ample NBA
Many other students told me that they would go out for spring sports if they were at the school, but because they aren't they decide not to. Not to mention everyone I have asked about this issue feels that it is an unnecessary annoyance. While other school programs and other people are trying to do something, we are being an interruption to them and they are interrupting us. How can you hold productive practice when there are other people there taking space, using the equipment we need, and taking away our time? The answer is, we can’t, and the fix is easy. Simply start saving up money and also do fundraising to get the money needed to build the things we need here at Havre
Attention Getter: Mia Hamm. Peyton Manning. Steve Nash. Here are just a few great athletes that most of us have heard of. But what is it that makes us look up to them? What is it that makes them great? The truth is that sports are only a small part of what makes a person worthy of looking up to.
It is considered that football is the most viewed sport in the United States, over 200 million people watch the regular season which consists of 256 games, and about 114 million people watch the Super Bowl alone which is the final game of the season. The National Football League roughly makes over 500 million for a regular season and their players get paid an average of 2.11 million, but that is the NFL.
Some schools force students to participate in organized school sports. However, I believe that schools should not make this a requirement. Some students may have medical conditions, family situations that don't allow them to participate in organized school sports, or they simply may not have the time.
Without doing this your team will be un organised and possibly have some upset parents and as a coach this is a must do. It is important to know if the coaching will take place by phone, face to face. If it is face to face discuss where and a time and how much notice to give you if they do cancel or reschedule (Miller).” Therefore, That is why communicating with both the children and the parents is another important must do for a basketball coach. Additionally, understanding children and how they can be in general psychologically. Social relationship benefits is a great benefit from basketball and here is why. Basketball requires communication between players because it is the only way a team can truly play the game right and win without any communication at all the team would be in for a doomed season or even a lot of injuries due to lack of teamwork. In order to have teamwork work you need to be able to communicate with other players which is another thing a coach must teach their players to do. Some kids also gain new friends from their team which is where social benefits comes into place. A thing most parents want kids to get from anything is gaining new friends and learning better communication skills especially at their young age of just getting used to outside of their homes. ”Social relationships and roles change drastically as
As a native of Lancaster, I feel an obligation to act and do something that will benefit my community. I am well aware of the many perils that youth face, and these obstacles can be extremely difficult to overcome without positive figures to aid and provide guidance. There is a great need for an intensive mentoring program within the community to positively influence the lives of youth. For The Land of Dreams, I have proposed to host a community basketball tournament to raise funds to implement a mentoring program to assist in the personal growth and career development of youth in Lancaster County and surrounding areas. The program will form partnerships with local school districts and the juvenile court system. This event will aid Lancaster County by providing additional discretionary resources that will be used to fund such activities as tutoring programs, leadership courses, and college tours.
Confucius once said, "he who does not do well is less guilty than he who pushes too hard." People found that competitive sports are often physically straining and it is detrimental to proper emotional development. This blows away the misconception that competitive sports create a healthy and engaging atmosphere for kids. This and an overly strong obsession with winning create a toxic mix for the child’s wellbeing. People have begun to realize the world of competitive may be doing more harm than good for their children. Parents have also begun to notice that competitive sports often injure their children severely and also make the child feel left out, which in turn is detrimental to the child 's emotional health. Therefore, competitive sports
It 's been outrageous , how many kids get injured per year playing youth sports for school and organizations. The youth who play sports receive plenty medical attention throughout the year due to injuries cause from actions made occuring in games. Health plays a big part in sports because if your are are not healthy many things can go wrong with the body including dehydration, heart problems , and muscle spasm. Playing a sport can be very hard to juggle with school and also getting talked down by coaches and parents. Dehydration is a high possibility because of outside sports that happen in the spring/summer and playing and practicing in humid conditions that you are not well prepared for can be bad and there will be consequences.
