Describe a basic game strategy or movement skill (offensive or defensive) you learned in class that can be transferred across at least two different sports we covered in this semester. Explain how this strategy or movement skill increased your individual or your team’s success during game play in both activities.
A basic game strategy is short passing and quick passes. It's an offensive strategy and can be used throughout several types of sports. In sports like floor hockey, it's an invasion territory game making people being more aggressive and defensive. With teamwork the use of our team can pass the ball continuously to fake or trick the opponent to shot for a goal. Also, passing the ball around let everyone have a chance to play and try

to be successful by scoring. With passing quickly it prevents the other team from surrounding you to get the ball and short passing are easy to give your teammates rather than long passes that the other team can intercept it and gain possession of it. In basketball, this strategy is good for it too, since quick passes to like a open player to shoot in the net for a point. Furthermore, basketball is great with short passes after all long just like in hockey long passes has the risk of turnovers. Considering that this strategy works with hockey and basketball it works among many other however soccer is one. The strategy is amazing in soccer seeing that quick passes can bring the ball to the opponent team to score and short passes can is easier to handle than long pass making the turnover to the opponent team. Therefore, a basic game strategy is short passing and quick passes which increases me and my team’s ability to be successful. Choose a sport that you participated in during the semester. Describe one health-related component of fitness, and one skill-related component of fitness that can improve from participation in that sport. What are some indicators that you are working to improve that component when playing that sport? How will improving that component (and your fitness in general) improve your life overall? A sport that I have participated during the semester is basketball.
The health-related component of fitness is cardiorespiratory fitness. The aspect of basketball involved this component is running which improves my running to get the ball to shoot into the net. The indicators that I am working to improve the component while playing is to running around to open places and to running back to defend, improving this will make me more healthy and active. The skill-related component of fitness for basketball is reaction time since the sport is a fast paced game and you need to be awared of your surrounding after all there's other people on your team with the ball trying to get into open space and the opponent team defending their net. The indicators that I am working to improve the component while playing is to communicate with my team and be aware of my surroundings and if there is any open spots to try to score and pass to open teammates. The component will improve my life overall in school with decision making, being alert, etc.
Select a food item that you enjoy eating in your weekly diet. Describe 3-4 specific benefits and/or drawbacks of including this food choice in your diet. (Use information from food labels as evidence for your
reasoning.) A food item that I enjoy eating in my weekly diet is strawberry yogurt. It's a great weekly diet food item that I enjoy eating. Some of the benefits the strawberry yogurt has is that it has Carbohydrates 15, Vitamin A 15, Calcium 15, and Vitamin D 15. There are no unhealthy nutrients in the strawberry yogurt. Overall, the strawberry yogurt is a great choice to eat for my weekly diet seeing that it's healthy and delicious. Many teens experience peer pressure to abuse alcohol/drugs, so it is important that they are aware of their own resiliency. Using an example (personal or made up), describe 2 protective factors that can increase an individual’s ability to resist using alcohol or drugs as a coping method. (Be sure make connections between the protective factors, and how these factors would help an individual avoid using and/or help someone refuse to use.) Since many teens experience peer pressure to abuse alcohol/drugs. A story of me is that I was almost peer pressure to vape by a friend of mine and tried to influence me to try out his vape which he said it taste like cotton candy, however I knew the effect of vaping which is the same as smoking is bad and not good for our body. The two protective factors are good communication skills and supportive friends. Upon good communication skills it increase a person's ability to resist using alcohol or drugs by talk about it and changing the topic to draw away attention. With supportive friends they help make good decisions and confidence to deal with situations. The two risk factors are feeling disconnected and family history with mental health issues. With feeling disconnected people don’t care about you and is not confident. As well as family history with mental health issues as social withdrawal, dramatic changes in eating or sleeping habits and strong feelings of anger. Explain the most significant thing you learned in the healthy sexuality unit. Describe how you can use this information to help you make positive choices with a future partner. The most significant thing I have learned throughout the healthy sexuality unit is how to put on a condom properly, why it is important to use it and where to get a condom. With the information it could help me avoid consequences in the future such as the effects when not wearing a condom during sex which may get a STI. In addition to avoiding consequences in the future to make positive choices such as wearing a condom to avoid diseases and have a new condom. Therefore, with the sexuality unity I learn how to use a condom and consequences of not using one. Make an argument for OR against Phys. Ed. classes being mandatory for all four years of high school. Explain using personal experience and specific concepts learned in class. I think we should have Phys. Ed. classes mandatory for all four years of high school since it strengthened peer relationships, experience in setting goals and teaches leadership, cooperate with others. As Phys. Ed. class strengthened peer relationships through team games and getting to know each other as friends. While having a strong friendship with strong positive relationship between peer and friend encouragement and participation. Furthermore, it give experience in setting goals to achieve in the future. As well as it teaches leadership and cooperating with others in activity to stand up and lead the team to victory and create strategies. Among theses concepts it shows prepare us for a healthy lifestyle in the future. Therefore, Phys. Ed. class should be mandatory for all four years of high school.
In this observation project the results will show and discuss that of a natural observation. When presented with a choice of a snack, such as a healthy option or unhealthy option what will most people choose? In the second half of this observation, A variable will be added in order to change the behavior.
The tactical games model is an instructional method for a physical education class, the outline for a tactical game unit is set up as follows. The first step in any Tactical games model is to choose a sport for the class to play, team sports such as basketball or soccer typically work best for this model because they present the players with more tactical situations. Rather than full sized games your class will benefit more from smaller groups and faster paced games, any tactical issues a student is having during the sport will become more apparent this way and therefore easier to address (Pill). Additional adaptations can be made to manipulate the sport to your classes needs such as dimensions of the field, player’s movements, and the games rules (Pill). The Focus of game one is to put your students into challenging situations, by being challenged in the first game the students see areas they are lacking tactical experience. As the teacher your objective during game one is to iden...
Game Theory, originally derived from the subject of Mathematics, aims to provide a way to understand strategic social interactions; such as in the case of the Cuban Missile Crisis. It can be understood as the study and explanation of strategically, mutually-dependent actions and decisions (strategies), made by what are assumed to be ‘rational’ decision-makers (players) in competitive conditions that involve both conflictual and cooperative options (games); where the objective of each player is to achieve the most desirable outcome from a set of potential outcomes (payoffs) (Carlson & Dacey 2013; Myerson 1991; Prisner 2014; Turocy 2001). Despite being a mathematical theory, its application in international relations has been prominent
Teaching Games For Understanding Model is the topic that I researched. This teaching model was created by Rod Thorpe and David Bunker from Loughborough University. The abbreviation for Teaching Games For Understanding Model is TGFU. This model was made for students to help educate them about the games they play in Physical Education. This learning model does not reflect on the performance from the student. It focuses on teaching student’s skills and key concepts in the classroom. There are six stages in TGFU that specifically target an important skill or concept that the student needs. The following six stages are Game Form, Game Appreciation, Tactical Awareness, Decision Making, Skill Execution, and Performance. All of these stages combine to make one goal of educating students with the skills and concepts they need in Physical Education, sports, and life.
Game Theory was said to have been introduced by Emile Borel in 1921. Borel was a French mathematician who published papers on the theory of games. From this standpoint and according to the article “Game Theory”, Borel could have been named the “first mathematician to envision an organized system for playing games” however; evidence has shown that Borel did not develop his ideas any further. This is the reason why most historians have given credit to John Von Neumann.
Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) is seen throughout physical education curriculums and helps students gain an understanding of the rules and concepts of certain activities. The goal of TGfU is to help the students understand what they do and why they are doing it. Also, students can be taught by using a modified form of the activity that the teacher wants them to do. TGfU is not judged on how good or bad a student will perform. Although the model is used mostly in physical education, we see it now being used by coaches.
Players learn teamwork and acceptance, which leads to success on the field. Interpersonal skills are strengthened through diversity because players understand basic values and assumptions (Doherty, 1999).
Sports are often identified to have positive influences on many individuals. The sports industry is growing worldwide, especially the basketball industry, which is regarded in second place behind football. The global prevalence of basketball is unquestionable, especially among the young. Basketball is a dynamic team sport that involves a pattern of alternating, active, and skilled movement activities. There are compound demands that require a mixture of individual skills, team plays, strategies, and motivational aspects.
My intent is to properly explain how to play a sport the different things that are required to play any the many sports out there. Learning a sport takes time, and the ability to be coachable in whatever sport you might do. In every sport your coach gives you tips on how to improve on different attributes that may help you better yourself as an athlete. These tips that are given and learned, help improve the overall ability that you have in the sport. In learning these skills you are cognitive, associative, and autonomous which help you the skills you learned and use them effectively. These theories all have something to do with process of learning that takes place in any sport played.
Two different foods can be both healthy in two different ways. The two foods can also be healthy in the same way too. The foods can also be unhealthy as well. The only way to determine which is more healthy is by reading the food label. Then decide which food has more or less of a given component. White bread and Whole Wheat bread are excellent and at the same time, terrible for your nutrition in some aspects. Fish and chicken are also superb and unhealthy for you in different aspects. This essay will focus on comparing and contrasting the foods listed above.
Since we have been learning about nutrition in class, our task was to record a food log. Nutrition requires a well-balanced diet containing nutrient and vitamins like amino acids and fatty acids. Over the past seven days I have been recording and have been looking very carefully at my intake of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fats. In our task, the objective was to record the basic foods we ate during the period of seven, but it did not require recording every single detail or our intake of food. Doing this food log was a pain and it was disturbing because I never wrote about what I ate like breakfast, lunch, dinner, or additional meals. I found this food log useful because it helped me learn what I can change in my intake of foods to make my diet healthy and to see what about my diet is affecting me from being healthy because I could affect me in the future.
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Sports increase a student’s performance not only in the classroom but also in their life.
We all know that computers can help a jumbo jet land safely in the worst of weather, aid astronauts in complex maneuvers in space, guide missiles accurately over vast stretches of land, and assist doctors and physicians in creating images of the interior of the human body. We are lucky and pleased that computers can perform these functions for us. But in doing them, computers show no intelligence, but merely carry out lengthy complex calculations while serving as our obedient helpers. Yet the question of whether computers can think, whether they are able to show any true intelligence has been a controversial one from the day humans first realized the full potential of computers. Exactly what intelligence is, how it comes about, and how we test for it have become issues central to computer science and, more specifically, to artificial intelligence. In searching for a domain in which to study these issues, many scientists have selected the field of strategic games. Strategic games require what is generally understood to a high level of intelligence, and through these games, researchers hope to measure the full potential of computers as thinking machines (Levy & Newborn 1).
At IHS we will offer many types of physical fitness. Being physically fit is significant to enhance the quality of your life. Physical fitness improves the immune system, strengthens joints, bones, and muscles. Doing activities that help you become fit are necessary for muscle development and the function of the lungs and heart (Lee, Burgeson, Fulton, & Spain, 2007).
“Physical education plays a critical role in educating the whole student. Research supports the importance of movement in educating both mind and body. Physical education contributes directly to development of physical competence and fitness. It also helps students to make informed choices and understand the value of leading a physically active lifestyle. The benefits of physical education can affect both academic learning and physical activity patterns of students. The healthy, physically active student is more likely to be academically motivated, alert, and successful. … Throughout the school years, quality physical education can promote social, cooperative and problem solving competencies.
