Pulling off of Route 5 near Westfield, there’s a steep hill that overlooks a magnificent sight. A sight that fills all souls with serenity, curiosity, and amazement. Barcelona Harbor is known for its pier, smooth parking area, clean restroom facilities, accessible boat launch, and the breathtaking beach fronts. The harbor contains over a mile long stretch of hot, soft sand in addition to spectacular vantage points of Lake Erie. People from all over come to visit Barcelona Light, a historical lighthouse landmark, or bird watch, but locals come to Barcelona Beach to breathe in the fresh air. No matter the weather, there is always someone at the beach taking in the glorious sites, walking along to the beat of the waves. Barcelona Beach is the perfect place to wash away all personal problems with the incoming waves. The harbor is a little slice of heaven, the natural landscape as well as the scents are always changing, and the water is consistently dancing to disconnect it’s visitors from the rest of the world. To most people, beaches are just a place with sand, water, in addition to wind. It’s a shame people believe beaches are just places to visit, because …show more content…
Barcelona beach is one of the best beaches around Lake Erie, purely because the beach is more of an intimate, and secluded location. There are three very large, and hard to miss signs that states, no swimming is allowed due to the of the lack of life guards. Despite the signs, people still partake in water activities, like swimming. Cute families and large groups of rowdy friends do visit Barcelona Harbor, but these groups of people never stay for long. Large groups stay until their skin is pruned from swimming in the blue water, and their skin starts to burn from the sun’s rays. Nevertheless, there is always concealed sections of beach in the harbor only extraordinary strangers have the capability to
Semaphore Beach is affected by many factors such as natural processes and human impacts including marine litter and the discharge of stormwater. Therefore, several plans have been employed to ensure that the coast is supported through the method of counteracting erosion. However in the future, many management strategies have been put into consideration as well as the environmental, economic and social impacts as well as the predicted consequences. These impacts include traffic related incidents, noises and air pollution and the disruption of wildlife and the erosion of dunes. A method that should be considered for future management of the beach is the use of a concave sea wall, although efficient, this structure would be quite costly. Without the use of coastal management, Semaphore Beach would be unsupported, therefore negatively being affected by a variety of
The whole island is in the shape of a giant square with white sandy beaches full of people sunbathing, swimming and fishing right on the shoreline. From the end of the hot pavement parking lot to shore of the beach is an ocean of soft white sand. The pearlescent white sand seems to know how to invade every nook and cranny almost as if it enjoys it. Walking around the beach on the fluffy whiteness surrounding the parking lot, the seagulls are fighting over scraps of food on the ground. “Sandy beach ecosystems provide invaluable services to humankind. Their functions have been exploited through history, with significant anthropogenic effects (Lucrezi, 2015)”. This white sandy beach is a beautiful refuge from the mundane grind of everyday life. The smell of the misty ocean air mixed with the sound of seagulls hovering above and kids playing is a tonic for the mind. The feel of the sand between their toes and the waves crashing over them as people swim in the water, or the jerk of a fishing pole when someone is catching a fish makes Fred Howard Park one of the best places to relax. Standing on the beach looking out on the water, people are kayaking and windsurfing. The lifeguards watching vigilantly in their bright red shirt and shorts, blowing their whistles when they see someone being unsafe. After a long day of swimming and laying around visitors head back over the soft white sand to the showers, in order to rinse off the menacing sand that clings to everything like a bad habit. Everyone rushes over the hot pavement burning their feet to reach their cars so they can put away their beach paraphernalia which is still covered in the white sand, nearly impossible to completely leave behind, so when they get home it serves as a reminder of where they were that
I have been to Florida a billion times, but there are only two places that I normally visit. Sanibel Island and Destin. Traveling to Sanibel Island is almost like a tradition for my family because every year we try to go down there. My grandparents first went to Sanibel with my whole family (cousins and all) about 15 years ago and ever since then, it has been our family’s main “vacation spot”. I have gone to Sanibel almost every year, but last year I also went to Destin. Now the main reason we decided to go there as well is because we wanted to travel somewhere nearby the panhandle of Florida. The water and beaches are also very contrasting in comparison to Sanibel. Sanibel’s beaches even had heaps of sea shells going out into the water. The sand is also more dense than that of Destin. Even Sanibel’s water is darker and more cloudy, so it was crazy to see Destin’s water so clear! The beach (which is called Emerald Cove, where I stayed at) had sand that was so white and soft it
cant come al the way to the seaside and not go down to the beach.
As early as eight in the morning, beaches are packed with people sun bathing in their new swim suits. Coming from the depressing artic winter in Minnesota, the hot sand on my back and gold sun on my face is what I had been missing for months. While gazing out into the sapphire ocean it is not uncommon to spot the black and white fins of killer whales. It is truly a sight to see, although the beach is not the only admirable scenery in Puerto Vallarta. Looking inland, steep and narrow cobblestone roads lead up to mountains that fill the sky. There is a mile-long promenade along the ocean that extends from one side of town to the other called the Malecón. Along the Malecón are palm trees, rock statues and sand sculptures. It is considered a main attraction for everyone. Most of the popular restaurants, nightclubs and stores are located
Section One - On the Beach Question 1: At the beginning Moira Davidson drinks a lot of Alcohol (alcohol). She is sad and angry because she can’t understand why the Australians have to pay for other people’s faults. John Osborne blames Moira to drink (for drinking?) too much to escape from reality.
These beaches provide a place of rest and relaxation from the minute person steps on to one. One in particular that is the most famous of all of Puerto Rico would the Flamenco beach. This is the most attractive. The sand is warm as the summer sun and so soft your feet just sink. The water is crystal blue and shimmers as the sun sets on it. Even as the sun sets you can still see the coral reef with a spectrum of colors throughout these reefs house exotic fish and birds.
California’s most ravishing views must be its coastline. There are amazing, refined, long stretches of beaches that offer a wide variety of sceneries. Beautiful white sand coming from Santa Monica, Long Beach and Big Sur. All types of people from the state of California to people from Florida enjoy California beaches. Some even like to hang loose and surf on the waves coming off the coast. Incredible evenings make families in California come together to watch the sun set. Florida beaches are not just well known in the USA but all around the world. Beaches that come to mind are Miami, Clearwater, and Sarasota beach. Miami beach is considered one of the “sexiest beaches in America.” With all the parties thrown on the beach, spring break is a local one stop for students that are coming out of Miami University. Clearwater beach, years ago, was ranked as the number one beach on the planet, with its white powdery sand and super clear water. Sarasota beach is quiet, and one can hear the natural crashing of the waves hitting the shore that sooths anybody trying to relax and enjoy their
Surfers, swimmers and sunbathers use beaches for recreation. People fish off beaches for food. Since many people take their vacations at the beach, lots of beaches in tropical locations are important to their country’s economy. Entire cities, regions and countries depend on the money tourists spend while visiting the beach. Beaches are naturally very dynamic places, but people try to control them and build permanent structures, such as houses, restaurants, shops and hotels, on or near the shore. The natural erosion and deposition of beaches becomes a problem. Beaches con disappear over time, or even over night during severe storms. Beaches are areas of loose sediment (sand, gravel, cobbles) controlled by ocean processes. Most beaches have several characteristic features. First are offshore bars, which help protect beaches from erosion. Next is the foreshore, which rises from the water toward the crest of the next feature; a berm. On low-lying shores, dunes form behind beaches. Dunes look like rolling hills of sand and are blown into place by the wind. New, smaller dunes are often changing shape as the wind continues to affect them. Waves and currents move the accumulated sediment constantly creating, eroding and changing the coastlines.
Although it has been years since our most recent visit to the shore side of Ocean City, New Jersey, the memories and senses never abandon my mind. All I can recall is the wondrous combination of the scorching heat, the grainy sand in between my toes, and the overwhelming smell of salt and delicious foods . . . I feel as if I am standing right there right now! Who could ever relinquish the beauty of the shore, the healing the shore accomplishes, and the tastes of the wondrous foods?
As I walk towards the ocean with the sand warm beneath my feet, the waves lap at my ankles, seeming as if they want to pull me out to sea. The sun rises over the horizon, reflecting off the waves and shimmering like gold. The salt air smells tangy as it stings my nose with the smell I crave while I am away from the ocean. The Outer Banks in North Carolina has been my favorite place to go from my first memories. I look forward to going there every summer because there at the ocean I feel at home. It is a place where I can forget every stress in my life and be totally at peace. It is a place where my family can spend time together, not like at home where we all have activities and places to be. The Outer Banks is not a beach where the ocean is forgotten; there is no partying and no boardwalks, nothing but nature to fill your days there. The beach is not crowded to the point where it is hard to even walk to the beach ,and looking for shells is not even an option. This beach is a very peaceful and surreal place. The noises of people do not overwhelm you at this beach; all you can hear are the sea gulls and the waves.
FC Barcelona is one of the premier soccer clubs in the world. Many of the best players in history have donned the red and blue of Barcelona and made the Catalonian fans proud. As a team, they have won countless of trophies and triumphed over rivals. Much of their success can be credited to their renowned youth academy, La Maisa. It has brought countless of talented players such as Messi, Iniesta, and Puyol throughout the ranks of La Maisa, the youth academy.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
But we did go on the boardwalk almost every night. Every night seemed to be different. We tried to experience everything in a different way. Coastal Highway, not unlike the ocean, seems to go on endlessly. When we were near Coastal Highway, I put my window down and let the smell of the sand and sea waft into the car. The rain had started, but it was only a light mist. The temperature had cooled off now too. I decided to take an evening swim. Some of the waves were raising nearly 10 feet. In the evening when we all entered the beach some lifeguards were announcing that tides are so strong. Though I was not
People from all over the world go to beautiful beaches that are filled with water as clear as ice or as beautiful as diamonds. But, what will happen if we do not conserve the appealing sites that draw attraction to the public? Contaminated beaches has become a controversial issue to the public because of the causal problem, the harm to the people and marine animals, the government agencies supporting or opposing pollution, and the industries involved in creating such unlawful decisions. To create and find a solution, we must first find the core to the problem.
