1. Subpoint- The festival was originally scheduled for the month of April (The Albuquerque Balloon Festival, 2016).
2. Subpoint: It was later discovered that hot air balloons respond better to autumn air; the festival has since been held in the month of October (The Albuquerque Balloon Festival, 2016).
3. Subpoint- The first balloon festival was designed in 1972 as a 50th birthday bash for 770 KOB Radio. Station manager, Dick McKee asked Sid Cutter to use his own hot-air balloon as a kick off to the festivities (The Albuquerque Balloon Festival, 2016).
4. Subpoint- The duo had hoped for 19 balloons, due to weather conditions only 13 balloons were present. But for the 20,000 spectators in the Coronado Center Shopping mall they were still, needless to say, amazed by the display (The Albuquerque Balloon Festival, 2016). Transition- Secondly, I will be sharing with you the local impact of this very popular New Mexico Event.

In the year 1921, Conrad Eckhold, the owner of Atlantic City’s Monticello Hotel was looking for a way to keep tourists in town past Labor Day. After discussing the tourist problem with other Atlantic City business owners, the idea of a “Fall Frolic” was created. The Fall Frolic included a two-day competition to be called “Atlantic City’s Inter-City Beauty Pageant”, in years after it would be known as the “Miss America Pageant” (Miss America, 2/20/2011).

There is no arguing Walt Disney practiced what he preached. In fact, he did what he did so well that people continue to bring others to see what he did to this day, that being Disneyland. First, we’ll start by learning about the background history of Disneyland. Next, we’ll compare Disneyland from when it first started to what it has developed into. And finally, we’ll explore all the eight parks and what they have to offer.
In those days the average village in Western Europe celebrated at least 17 festivals annually, not counting family occasions and saints' days. Some festivals, such as Carnival, lasted several days or sometimes even several weeks. In the Netherlands Carnival started every year at the 11th of November (St. Martin) and culminated in a big festival of 'Dranck, pleijsier ende vrouwen' (Drink, fun and women) at the end of the Carnival period, preceding the period of Lent.

Over time there have been many variations of the celebration of Carnival. The earliest celebration on the list is Grande Sociedades - Grand Societies - in 1855. This was an organized parade where 80 aristocrats, including the emperor, were decorated with masks, costumes, music, and flowers, and went throughout the city (History). In this celebration everyone was a character, be it a witch, a queen, a peasant, a king, or a dancer, everyone acted as their character was portrayed (History). The latest celebration recorded before evolving into modern-day Carnival is Zé Pereira.
