Deciding to go back to school may leave you worrisome, or scared. You might wonder how you are going to handle another responsibility because you have so many already. As a single mother, an employee, and a homeowner, I have taken steps I would like to share with you to reduce the stress of adding schoolwork to your load. To get through this course, balancing your studies with the other aspects of your life will guide you to stress free success. Take each day as it comes, and do the best you can.
Whether you are a mother, a father, a daughter, or anybody with a family at home, you have to set aside what I call "me-time"-time all by yourself that you can get as much work done with out any interruptions. You need time to yourself for studying and working on your course load without distractions. Turn off your TV, turn off your radio, lock yourself in your room, and study. Because my daughter is my number one priority, I find the best time to study in between my work routes while my daughter is at school. I get 5 hours to myself to focus on school and just put my best into school work. The house is generally quiet, except for when my dogs are hyper and loud. Buying them more toys has made them play with each other instead of begging me to play, which stresses me out less. By doing my coursework during the day, it leaves my role as a mother to not interfere with school. I start my day getting ready. I prepare breakfast for my daughter and myself, energizing us for the day. Preparing breakfast used to be stressful for me, I would open the fridge and try to figure out what to make. Now, making breakfast is simple because I plan it out the night before. When I get home from work, my daughter does her homework. I normally don't need to...

...breakfast, I was more alert than ever. I am lucky to have a job that I don't bring home. It is less stressful to leave all the duties of your job at work. If at home, you have employees who call you, or emails you need to send, do not do it during your time to study. Balancing your studies with work is very important to your success and if you leave out interruptions from your job, you will have no problem cruising through your studies.
When you take the time to balance out the duties of your life while going to school, you will find that it greatly eases your mind and wipes away the stress. Balancing your life to give time to your studies and really focus on them help you to stay sane and not feel overloaded and overwhelmed. Use your time efficiently with your family, your job, and your duties to your house to make for an easier time in attaining your school goals.
...the work, personal, and social life context, can promote or impede their learning” (247). This statement is true because if these activities continue to impede the learning of a student then he or she will get stressed out, which could result in the student dropping all his or her college classes. If the student could just sit back and analyze the situation, life would be easier. For example, the student could reduce the number of classes he or she takes every semester. Reducing the amount of classes could result in more time spending with family rather than doing homework. When thinking of a person whose life is filled with frustrating duties and activities remember a nontraditional college students’ schedule of completing activities of school, working long hours, completing personal activities, and trying to spend free time with family and friends all in one day.
I don’t dread going to class or doing my homework, the material is so interesting. I love my decision to pursue nursing and the overwhelming support I have I could not be more thankful, but I have learned I am not as organized as I once thought I was. I have a hard time with managing my time between school, studying, my family and friends. The stress I feel every time I go into a classroom to take a test, which is usually two or three time a week sometimes four, can be overwhelming, some days I feel like my heart is beating out of my chest with the worst anxiety I have ever felt.
It may seem impossible to juggle many things in life at one time; such as trying to get all the assignments completed, and studying done in a short amount of time to make it to work on time. If that was not stressful enough there is also the pressure of making sure to spend time with family. It can be extra stressful when someone has a very big and close family, and a variety of events are to be attended, making sure assignment are completed in order to join the family. Sometimes it may seem that there is simply not enough time in a day to balance school, work, and family which requires a lot of effort, this can seem like a very daunting task because no one ever wants to fail, it is difficult trying to please everyone, and there seems to
Todays students are busier than they have ever been in American history. Homework is a large contributor to this. The average student in America has approximately four hours of homework each night. If students start homework right when they get home from school, that gives them free time starting at 7:00 PM. The majority of students also have jobs. So. between school, work, homework, and practice, that leaves them virtually no time to be able to hang out with friends or to participate in family activities.
Juggling work and school, finding time for having fun, and liking what someone does, these are some of the problems that plague young adults today. If a person that fits those requirements is looking for a little extra income, this writer knows just what the doctor ordered. Working as a waiter is a very fulfilling job, especially for a young adult student. With flexible hours and uniforms, decent pay, and working in a fun atmospherewith many different types of people, being a waiter is an excellent job for a student.
If you take all of these steps you will survive at least one normal day in the life of a single parent going back to school. Continuing your education is hard work. It takes dedication, commitment, and making sacrifices. Remember, your family comes first, your education second, and if you have time for anything else, it comes third. Don’t give up and keep your sense of humor.
As I’m sitting at home on my bed trying to get all of my school work done on time for classes, I think of all the other things I could be doing or if I should even do it at all. I always end up playing with my puppy, searching the tv for something to watch, or go on social networks and put my homework aside to do later so I can think of ideas. Deciding on whether to even do it or not ends up with me wondering what would I do without a college education and how I need one to be able to pursue the career I want. I'm usually rushing right before classes to finish the assignments with the ideas I've gathered by then.
Arguably one of the most crucial and impactful years of a person’s life are in college. A college student is expected to identify which type of career they would like to pursue and most importantly find who they really are. Although it is a difficult task, I believe a student is able to get on track achieve these expectations if they remain focused, have a passion for the career type they would like to pursue, and just be open to experiencing several different things. There is simply not enough time to fully understand what type of person you are and who you really are in 4 years. It could take a whole lifetime for someone to find who they are but in college we are expected to find this in most cases 4 years.
Supporting the financial weight of children, work, living necessities, and school obligation can be a hard load to carry. The preparation for cumulative exams alone takes so much time. The addition of giving your children the love they need, the rest you need, and the ability to function properly at work can be physically, mentally, and emotionally taxing. Loss of sleep with the combination of training the mind in order to absorb the influx of information that’s going to happen during the upcoming lecture is tough. Going home fatigued and making dinner for your family and then hoping to recap the day and possibly studying and or doing some homework all before your body fails for the day. Then you find yourself waking up to an alarm clock indicating you have to go to work the next morning. In-home stressors add complexity to an already complex situation. Approval on campus and interactions with other students can often become negative. Judgment due to age is often looming in the air and often hinders the ability to learn, but don’t fret. There are positives to going back to
There have always been various problems on how employees balance family life and work life. This is a problem that many employees from different organizations face. The challenge here is that they are not able to balance both lives. This in most cases leads to neglect of one life and giving too much attention to the other. This has been a major problem to many employees. They have always complained of how difficult it can be when a person tries to balance both lives (Philipsen & Bostic, 2010). This has been a big issue that should be tackled with a lot of concern. There has always been a need for people to be able to live comfortably with their families and to have a good working life in the work area. People should be taught on how to balance family life and work and to be able to give equal attention to both lives. This can be made possible by training and enlightening people on how these two can be achieved. There is need for all employees to learn how they ensure that they give equal attention to their family life and work life.
You always want to put your most important goals to be at the top of your schedule. I got a job before my junior year and it has impacted my schooling in many ways. I would work about four to five days a week and when one of those day are a school day I started to ignore my school work and focus more on being my greatest in the work environment. This did not work out for me, I started to fall behind in classes. When you take on a job, that job is to be made to work around your school schedule. There were many days I needed to stay after school for a test retake or just for some help. I thought that because I had a job now I couldn’t put my school first. I made this mistake many time. I took a Chemistry unit test and did not do so good on the test, the teacher had retakes the next following days after school. Of course I had to work all those days. I did not call off and stay after to retake the test. My choice to not take charge of my education, that poor grade stayed in the gradebook and further affected the overall
To begin with, I changed my time management in order to balance between study and entertainment. During high school, I had a poor time management. I attended school for seven hours and tutorial classes after school every day. After that, I had to do tons of homework such as book report, essay and assignment. Although it was late after finishing all my work, I surfed the Internet instead of going to sleep. I always thought that I still have much time left, so I procrastinated all the time. I slept only five hours a day, so I fell asleep in class. As I was not concentrated in class, I missed many important points from the teacher. I had to use more time to study after school so as to catch up. After having the poor experience, I understand the importance of having a good time management, so I tried to plan my work in the college. During college, I have much more free time. I have classes four to five hours a day and the rest is my free time, hence, it is important to have a good time management. I have to make sure that I do not use up my time in surfing the Internet. My goal of attending
Homework is achieved at higher levels, causing timing to increase on such task also the ability to learn. Children now at this rate have not only homework to focus on but also scholarships, colleges, extra curriculum activities, and SAT/ACT. The tole can cause stress and anxiety to the student but their work ethics learned through completing given homework can cause the student mindset to enhance short-term retention, understand the content, and construct thinking. But one may ask themselves, how can a single student that has twenty-four hours in the day as any other normal person have the ability to overcome the tremendous task set forth on their plate. Educators suggests that students that has these different tasks in their lives should break down all the requirements and get themselves an organized plan.
