The Baha’i faith is considered to be one of the newest religions that is being practiced today with about six million followers. It was founded by Siyyid ‘Ali Muhammad who proclaimed to be the “Bab” (the “Gate”) in the mid-19th century in modern day Iran. Many people might think that Islam and the Baha’i faith are similar because both religions share similar daily practices. However, they are not similar based on their concept of tawheed, their primary purpose of life, and their beliefs of the hereafter. Therefore, Baha’i’s and Muslims have more differences than they are similar.
The Baha’i faith began to become recognized in 1844. Many people believe that the Baha’i faith grew out of the Shiite sect of Islam while others believe it should be considered a distinct religion due to its contradicting teachings of the Islamic faith. Muslims believe in one God with no partners, children, or wife. He is divine, omnipotent, perfect, infinite and has many other characteristics such as being The All-Knowing, All-Hearing, and The All-Seeing...Etc displaying more than 99 characteristics. Allah is above all things including time and is unseen by humanity. They believe Allah (God) sent many prophets and messengers to guide everyone to the right path of monotheism, to believe in Allah, to avoid sin, and to believe in the Day of Judgment. The prophets chosen are human and lived on earth. They believe in many prophets (only 25 are mentioned in the Quran) like Adam, Noah, Ibrahim, Ishaq, Yaqoob, Esa, and Muhammad being the last and final messenger (PBUH).
