There comes a time in every young girl's life where her nails are everything to her. For me that time came in middle school. Every week I would paint my nails a different color. I felt like life was not complete when my nails were not done. I began to notice that more and more girls in my grade began to get fake nails. I really wanted acrylic nails aka fake nails because I thought it looked better than my natural nails and they lasted longer. This was until a girl on my dance team had gel nails. I didnt know what to do. This is when I began to do some research. After researching I discovered that acrylic nails cause your nails to be dry, weak, and causes them to brittle, whereas gel nails allowed you to safely grow long and healthy nails. …show more content…
With acrylic nails you have to cut the nail and the soak your fingers for 15 minutes in nail polish and then take off the nails. After that you might need to soak your nails in olive oil for 15 minutes to bring back some strength to your nails. This can sometimes make the process a little timely. All together it is a 30 minute process just to take off acrylic nails. With gel nail polish you cut out half of this time because you do not have to take of anything because your natural nail was used in the process. This is where many people go wrong and damage their nails. Many people tend to bite off the acrylic nail. This is very bad for two reason.
