B&G Express Trucking, LLC, is a family operated trucking company established in Four Oaks North Carolina. The company started in 1985 by Bob and Gloria Wagner, and is operated under the authority of Bill Patterson Trucking. In 2012 B&G Express become a limited liability corporation. The company owns 11 trucks and 32 trailers. The company also has 18 employees, which is made up of 15 truck drivers, 2 mechanics, and a dispatcher.
Mission for B&G Express B&G Express, LLCs’ mission is to provide the highest level of transportation, as well as safe and timely deliveries, with fair and competitive pricing, all while providing a safe workplace for their employees. The employees and their management team strive to maintain integrity, fairness, and honestly with their customer and business partners. To maintain this mission, several management practices are used to ensure the company runs as smoothly as possible.
Planning Methodologies Operating a trucking company requires proper planning, such as strategic planning, to ensure that all goals are met in a timely manner. Strategic planning is a process that includes managers from all parts of the organization in the creation and the execution of strategies and strategic goals (Kinicki & Williams , 2016). There are three levels of control, strategic and tactical, which were previously discussed, and operational. Operational control is used by first line managers to monitor performance to ensure the day-to-day goals are met and takes corrective action if needed (Kinicki & Williams , 2016). Mr. Drew Wagner, in B&G Express’s case, would be considered a first line manager. He takes responsibility of the employees and ensures the drivers are correctly completing and submitting their paperwork.
