Overview The Aztec Empire was one of the most dominant and advanced Native American tribes around their time. Originally the Aztecs were a nomadic group, traveling from place to place, but eventually they settled down and built an empire around Central Mexico. They made Tenochtitlan their capital city. This particular empire arose around 1345 BC and collapsed around 1521 AD. With the uprising of the empire, the Aztecs made significant advances in agriculture and their day to day life. This historic tribe has not only made memorable achievements, but also left major marks in history that will never be forgotten. Aztecs are widely known and remembered for their many advances.

The Aztecs often started to put peoples to work at a fairly young age. Nevertheless, there was a very common game amongst the young children that was popularly played. This game was simple, it only required two players and a ball. This game was simply an earlier form of tennis because the only difference was that instead of rackets, they would simply use their hands. This game always got very competitive and the Aztec children despised losing, but it was still all Aztec children’s favorite entertainment.
Important/Famous people There were a good handful of famous and important people from the Aztec empire. One of the most important people was Acamapichtli. Acamapichtli was the very first official ruler, or king, of the Aztecs. He was a very successful ruler who conquered five civilizations within his rule. Another important person was Huitzilihuitl. Son of Acamapichtli, Huitzilihuitl was the next leader and within his rule he finished the construction of the city, introduced how canoes can be used in warfare, and conquered five more civilizations. A more famous Aztec person was Montezuma II. Montezuma II was famous for his encounter with Hernan Cortez. To the Aztecs, Cortez was a prophecy that had come true. Montezuma II welcomed Cortez into the empire only to realize later that was a mistake. Cortez, along with his men, ended up destroying Tenochtitlan and later renamed it Mexico
