The media text I have chosen is the movie Avengers Age of Ultron. Avengers Age of Ultron is about Captain America, Black Widow, Iron man, Scarlet Witch, Quick Silver, Hawk eye, Thor, Vision and the Hulk teaming up together to defeat this robotic villain named Ultron. This all started because Tony Stark who is Iron man experimented on Loki’s scepter. Tony created an artificial life from it which was Ultron. Ultron turned evil because he thought that the only way for peace was for all of humanity to die. He made it his mission to kill every single human on earth with Pietro who is Quick Silver and Wanda who is Scarlet Witch help. When Wanda and Pietro found out that Ultron planned on killing the entire human race they joined up with Avengers. …show more content…
He died too soon. Pietro should have lasted longer than one movie. “Pietro Maximoff wasn’t always going to be killed off, and there were also several scenes shot where he was still breathing in the end” (Holmes) in the movie. These scenes shouldn’t have been missing from the final copy. He should have joined his sister in becoming an Avenger and have more friendly banter with Clint. Their relationship could have been developed more. I will be doing a fanfiction. The story will be told through Clint’s perspective. It will feature the friendly banter between Pietro and Clint in the movie along with ones I created. In my fanfiction Clint won’t have a wife or kids but he still will have the house and farm. The house and farm will be the main setting. He will be in a romantic relationship with Pietro which the fanfiction will be focused on. Pietro would be alive instead of being dead. He will still save Clint and the kid from getting shot but he will heal from his injuries. Clint wouldn’t know that Pietro is healed and alive after the battle at first (Clint Barton and Pietro Maximoff Somebody to Die For Hawksilver 0:01-0:19) which is where the fanfiction will start at. Then after Clint finds out he will take Pietro back to his house to heal up some more before both of them joining the Avengers again. They will be taking a break from the Avengers but they will still keep in contact with them throughout the
Napoleon Dynamite is one of the best movies portraying loneliness and nerds. It is the story of Napoleon in high school and his lonely adventures. All the main characters feel separated, misunderstood, and have nobody to relate to. Napoleon has no friends and lives in his own fantasy land. He is avoided by everybody. His brother seems to be mislead, wanting to be a cage fighter but staying home all the time hopelessly trying to find love and attention on the internet. Their grandmother is never there for them, though she lives her own life right beside them. They live next to a huge field, reinforcing their isolation. Practically every home in the film is
The setting in both Lord of the Flies and I Only Came to Use the Phone contributes to the dehumanization of the characters in each of the readings. The settings are both isolated, which is the cause of all the chaos that takes place because when you take a human being out of the comfort of society, they go back to their natural animalistic tendencies in order to survive. Survival of the fittest is present in these quotes. Also, the island archetype plays a huge role in both of the stories.
Higher Learning - Film Analysis Exposition: The Establishing Shot of the film is a full screen American Flag, the camera zooms out and points down, revealing a large crowd of people in a rally, being very patriotic. As the camera zooms off the flag we come across a statue of Columbus- indicating it to be Columbus University. The speaker on the stage gives us another indication of the setting by Shouting'Columbus University'. They are in front of a stage with Band music playing and chants rising out. Whilst this continues in the background three characters are established:
In the story Kingdom Come, the superheroes of old such as Superman, Green Lantern, and the Flash are living in a type of self imposed exile after a disastrous nuclear accident in Kansas state. When Superman and the other heroes come back to stop the new breed of heroes, meta-humans, who are doing more harm than good, the threat of the end of the Earth looms overhead. The climax of the graphic novel comes when the Gulag, the prison built to house the non-cooperating meta-humans, has been destroyed. As the old superheroes clash with the escaped meta-humans, Superman battles Captain Marvel who has been brainwashed by Lex Luthor and has turned against his former allies and friends.
Alexander Pierce, the main villain, tries to use his fear tactics to gain control the security council by asking, “What if you know that someone was about to march into your home and kill your daughter? What if you could stop that person right now, with the flick of a switch?” He truly believes that he is being brave by taking the lives of a few million people by murdering seven billion. However, Nick Fury’s response, “I’m brave enough not to” shows that you can do something
A combined example of these two aspects can be seen in the Avengers: Age of Ultron directed by Joss Whedon. Thor, Norse
In “The Fish” by Elizabeth Bishop, the narrator attempts to understand the relationship between humans and nature and finds herself concluding that they are intertwined due to humans’ underlying need to take away from nature, whether through the act of poetic imagination or through the exploitation and contamination of nature. Bishop’s view of nature changes from one where it is an unknown, mysterious, and fearful presence that is antagonistic, to one that characterizes nature as being resilient when faced against harm and often victimized by people. Mary Oliver’s poem also titled “The Fish” offers a response to Bishop’s idea that people are harming nature, by providing another reason as to why people are harming nature, which is due to how people are unable to view nature as something that exists and goes beyond the purpose of serving human needs and offers a different interpretation of the relationship between man and nature. Oliver believes that nature serves as subsidence for humans, both physically and spiritually. Unlike Bishop who finds peace through understanding her role in nature’s plight and acceptance at the merging between the natural and human worlds, Oliver finds that through the literal act of consuming nature can she obtain a form of empowerment that allows her to become one with nature.
Whereas, in the movie the Civil War between the superheroes begins because of Baron Zemo’s elaborate plan. Moreover, there isn’t a group of villains who side with Iron Man to defeat Captain America as seen in the comic. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the villains are nowhere to be seen or dead. As for Thor he was also nowhere to be seen in the movie, even though it was not actually Thor but a clone of Thor in the comic. He still played a big role in the comic book as he killed Goliath and made many superheroes question themselves if they were doing the right thing or fighting on the right side. Moreover, in the movie there was no death scene but rather replaced by War Machine being accidentally hit by a streak of lightning thrown by the Vision and leaves him partially
The theme death has always played a crucial role in literature. Death surrounds us and our everyday life, something that we must adapt and accept. Whether it's on television or newspaper, you'll probably hear about the death of an individual or even a group. Most people have their own ideas and attitude towards it, but many consider this to be a tragic event due to many reasons. For those who suffered greatly from despair, living their life miserably and hopelessly, it could actually be a relief to them. Death affects not only you, but also those around you, while some people may stay unaffected depending on how they perceive it.
The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, is a story of five superheroes coming together to save the world. The last big battle scene takes place in New York, where a big portal has been opened and is letting out thousands of aliens that start terrorizing all of New York. Loki is the villain of the of the movie, who wants to take over Earth. While the five superheroes (who are known as the Avengers) are fighting off Loki and his alien army, The government decides to try and bomb New York. The bombing would have killed thousands of innocents if it weren’t stopped by the Avengers. In the end, the Avengers took down Loki and his army, saving New York and the world.
In 1932; Aldous Huxley published the classic novel Brave New World. The novel is about a futuristic controlled utopian/dystopian society, which seems successful and stable, yet evil and uncompassionate. The regime of Brave New World strongly enforces the indulgence in drugs and casual sex, caste systems, along with other various issues that would be considered unethical in our present Western society. Although Brave New World has many literary values; the novel’s most apparent literary value lies in the concept of establishing a fake morality. This fake morality and its shallow values; dominate an authoritarian regime; where choices and real life experiences are denied of people. This situation creates a fake perspective, frustration and a highly manipulative existence. All of which causes destruction and confusion in the lives of people with individuality.
In the essay, The Baby Boom and the Age of the Subdivision, author Kenneth Jackson tells about the changes in the nation after World War II ended, and there was a spike in baby births. He talks about the creation of the Levittown suburbs to accommodate families in need of housing because of this. While the new rise of suburbs created a new kind of community and family, it also proved to have a changing effect on inner city areas and certain people.
In Suicide Squad, the author uses the archetypes Good vs. Evil, tyrant, hero, mentor, and the traitor to reveal that we as humans fall to evil when we are independent, but we can accomplish more if we work as a team for good instead of evil. We can relate to this theme in the movie when the villains were evil by themselves, but they collaborated to use their power for good. This Theme relates to the whole story.
A familiar, sinister voice reveled in Thor's shame, murmuring of the limitless possibility that was suddenly within Loki's grasp. Oh yes, the change was palpable, unmistakable in the hot fury in their father's eyes as he raged at his favorite son. And it was there in Loki's own weak protest, one he knew to be futile before it ever escaped his lips.
I watched the film Avatar directed by James Cameron. The main actors in the movie are Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver. Set on the planet Pandora, Avatar is a sci-fi story of a mercenary-backed corporation’s attempt to steal and mine the land where humanoid aliens known as the Na’vi live.
