I chose the first picture for the relationship between Autumn and Sylv. Although they were a couple, they were best friends first and foremost. They didn’t let anyone stop them from being who they were. They were looked down upon in society and they were thought of being crazy or unethical. Yet this didn’t stop them. Not even Autumn’s brother. In my opinion, if you love someone, you can’t stop yourself from loving them. So it’s unfair to tell someone in a same sex relationship that they are wrong or a sinner for loving who they love. And as many people have stated, if you love someone let them go, this is demonstrated with this couple in many ways. For one, their willingness to let each other go to colleges far away from each other to pursue …show more content…
This was supervised by the Chinese English teacher at Opportunity High. Although he dies early on, he represents a sort of nostalgic memory for the children there. And even after he dies the seniors still live up to his legacy. They hold a memorial for all the victims of the shooting. Here, all the main characters who survive all come together as they hold hands in a circle and let lanterns go with the names of the victims, someone special to them letting go to the last strands of memories.Although minor, throughout the story is an entry from a girl’s social media named Mei. She posts about the crisis of the shooting and it is later revealed that her father is the English teacher. Seemingly insignificant, this posting made you feel the gravity of the lives …show more content…
Because he just shot a girl.
Because he just shot your sister.
Because he just shot your best friend.
Because you got into a fight with him in Junior year.
Because he was once your loving boyfriend.
Because at Junior Prom he raped you.
Because he’s your brother.
All the characters in this book had a reason to fear him. That’s what they all had in common. It drew them closer. He was playing a game of survival, and they were his pawns. But even the tiny pawns can take down a king positioned right. Autumn was a dancer. A ballerina to be exact. She loved dance just like her mother. She hid it from her abusive father. And now she was dancing to distract her brother to let others escape to find life. It all played out perfectly. Tyler’s focus was on his sister as she told him how wrong it was to be doing this. Tomás and Fareed had unlocked the auditorium doors and were guiding people out. And Autumn knew she had to keep Tyler distracted. She knew it was life or death now, for her classmates, fellow students, and neighbors. She didn’t understand how such a caring soul could harm someone. But it happened, and she wasn’t able to keep him distracted for long. But it was long enough to get nearly everyone

April Morning, by Howard Fast, is a novel that depicts what it was like for a 15 year old boy, Adam Cooper, fighting in the Revolutionary War in Lexington. His struggles began with his father, who is the antagonist, Moses Cooper. Moses Cooper is a character who is strict, strong-willed, and loving.
Summer at Devon is easygoing as teachers mellow out and the rule enforcement dwindles, such carefree behavior represents childhood; Devon’s winter session is ultimately more strict and level, emphasizing the mood in adulthood. As the sun shines bright, tension unravels and everyone at Devon loosens up including the teachers as Gene explains on page 23, “Now on these clear June days in New Hampshire they appeared to uncoil, they seemed to believe that we were with them about half of the time, and only spent the other half trying to makes fools of them.” The summer days are filled with happy-go-lucky antics that seem to come with no serious consequence; exactly how a young child would spend everyday of his life as a youthful boy. There is no
On Monday morning, KayDe was at her school's career center when she noticed the weekly newsletter for the staff. "Freak dancing is ... obscene!" she read in Mr. Bennett's column. All dances were going to be called off, he had written, unless students came up with a plan to stop the freak dancing. "I couldn't believe that he was serious," KayDe says. "That's just how we dance—like my parents used to do the twist!" She and Kelley had been elected to plan the Sadie Hawkins dance in February, and if Mr.
It was a sunny day with a sweet aroma of blooming tulips. The sunlight glittered on their faces as the breeze rattled the chestnut tree above. There was an occasional giggle as they talked, but there was also a hint of discomfort and awkwardness between them as they peeked at each other’s face and recoiled when the other looked up. When the bell rang twice, I saw them say goodbye and walk away from each other. In the darkness of the crowd, a glimmer flashed into my eyes from Hannah’s cheeks.

The darkness of her bedroom crept into her body. As time progressed the sounds of the evening grew louder leaving her in a state of fear. Amongst the dark room she would see the shadow of someone standing outside her bedroom window. She didn’t know why someone would want to hurt her. Afraid to tell her parents she found refuge underneath the sheets of her bed. After several sleepless nights she spoke to her mother about the mysterious person outside her window. Her mother shrugged it off and told her that no one was there and not to worry. Her mother believed that this was either her imagination or eating too close to her bedtime. However, Elyn was determined to catch this mysterious man. Next, she enlisted the help of her brother Warren. Frightened they hid in the closet waiting to capture the bandit. Unfortunately, this heroic attempt was unsuccessful as the bandit never revealed himself to anyone but her. Soon it became apparent to everyone that no one was outside her window. But, these feelings of a watchful eye never fled her. As a result, Elyn spent many nights terrified underneath her sheets only falling a sleeping from

Her eyes were heavy, her body weak. As she crawled into the bathroom two feet away, Abby felt her body slowly succumbing to the numbness. All of her pain would be gone in less than 10 minutes, so why would she want to turn back? What about the senior trip Abby had planned with her best friend? What about the chair at the dinner table that would now be vacant? A couple of hours later Abby’s family came home from her little sister’s soccer game. Little did they know what they would find as they approached the top of the stairs. Her little sister, Ali, stood still as she looked down at her feet. There on the cold floor lay her big sister, her role model, and her super hero. Ali was crushed when she saw the pill bottle in her hand and the pale color of her skin. Her mom fell to her knees screaming and crying, wondering where she
His hair glistened black in the shining sun, eyes sparkled to Pilot Mountain, and height soared with the birds at 6 feet 5 inches. Joshua was indeed qualified as beautiful, but was even more so qualified as dangerous. Considered a farm boy, Joshua enjoyed anything with a little dirt and thrill attached to it. Vera found herself infatuated with him and he with her. She was also quite the catch. Vera’s long, flowing, chestnut brown hair had him wrapped up all the way to her plump pink lips and big, bright emerald eyes. Vera’s father was a farmer as well and he influenced Vera to never be scared of the dirty work. Joshua found this quality to be his favorite of Vera. Fergil was not a fan of Joshua Taylor, but Vera disregarded his opinions and followed her stubborn heart. Every day, at Independence High, after school they would take the long way home through town to spend every last second together, until the next day. Joshua would wait for Vera at the trophy case beside the office doors and walk her from there to her home three miles down the road at Edgewood Drive. This love interest lasted from the beginning of Vera’s 11th year of school up until the very end of her 12th grade summer. That Fall she began college at Marymount University where a new adventure took

What are the elements that help to make a story important and meaningful? This depends on the point of view of the readers since every person has disparate ideas. Nonetheless, in order to stand out from other numerous stories, there must be something special in Winter Dreams so that it is distinguished. In my opinion, the description of the characters could be one of the reasons.
... Society needs to reevaluate the definition of love and the fact that all humans are created equal and should be able to love whomever they want to. There needs to be more laws and support for same-sex couples and gay marriage. Laws should be made to protect those who choose to love the person of the same-sex, and no discrimination against gays. Judging same-sex marriages should never be acceptable when including: health concerns, adoption, living conditions, job opportunities, ECT... Everyone should be able to love whoever they want and never let anything get into the way of that. In today’s society some people can't be with the person they truly love, because it is not society acceptable in most areas and it is too much of a struggle live like that on a daily basis. The world needs to open their eyes and realize that this is not acceptable under any circumstances.
As she walked into the funeral home, all Amanda could notice was tear stained faces, the costumes of black on the people, which symbolizes the somber time ahead, and how hushed everyone was being. It was the funeral of Amanda’s brother, Jacob Flowers, who had passed in a horrific car accident involving a drunk driver. The funeral home was getting to be only standing room because Jacob was acquainted with so many people, and had affected many lives in unique ways. Jacob had passed at the young age of eighteen, with so much life ahead of him. Amanda stood back and watched the events of the funeral, as they unfolded before her eyes.
