Arabic plays a large part of kuwaiti culture For example the most distinctive characteristic in kuwait society is diwaniya where males friend and relative gathering in one place to discuss issues in arabic. However, these days, it is necessary to learn more than one language such as English, French and spain. For me I just learned two language which are English and Arabic. Certainly, I faced a lot of difficult and experience while I learning those two language each of them I had different expression about it.
My first experience of learning Arabic language was at age 4. I start to observe my father when he was teaching his student Arabic. I remember that one day I went with my father to his school because I was in holiday and for some reason my mother have to go out, so nobody taking care of me . The first time when I enter the class, I felt shy in front of student. At the moment when I started to get attention to lesean and saw student copy things on the board, I felt very curious how they could write. It is obviously I couldn't understand every part in lecture, but I had hoped that someday I will be able to write like them and to understand. Then when I return home I went directly to my room. I started to hold the pen and paper and try to copy any thing in front of me. I thought it would be easy to me to copy things but it was difficult. I didnt notice that I hold pen sidelong. The...

...ment without Layal I couldn't pass the exams. Layal was much more than my friend, she was my sister who always help me if I get problem. Even when my grandfather got in coma after the operation she stayed with me. Unfortunately, after two years I left london and returned to Kuwait because my grandfather gets better and he finished his medical treatment. Finally, Layal is the most influential person in my life because she made me love English language.

In addition, I’ve learned that knowing more one language elevate the person in front of people which make him successful in his life .Now, I am taking spanish class in University and I hope to master this language
Most people who grow up with a foreign language spoken in there house grow up with an advantage in society. This advantage can only occur once the individual learning that foreign language also learns the dominant language spoken in that country. Once both of these languages are learned and mastered, the individual has now placed them se...
Being familiar with several different languages is most definitely not one of the easiest things to do. While growing up and experiencing different opportunities to learn different cultures there is no way it should be passed upon. Having the knowledge of different languages will offer one to have a lot more culture within there main culture and the one they are opening there self into. People with culture know their way around the world and the life they’re living. Also, it would permit one to travel to places all over the world and countries. Being knowledgeable about back rounds of several cultures will open a door for one with several opportunities throughout ones life time. Discovering different cultures will bring one around the world giving individuals chances to learn lifestyles in completely different ways. “Wild tongues can’t be tamed, they can only be cut out.” (Anzaldua) I enjoy this statement within writing my essay simply because it represents that she will continue to stay faithful to her language throughout her life.
I feel that although it was a difficult move, I am happy that my parents decided to move me to a Bilingual Program. Now, I could ask my teachers questions in Spanish about the words or things I didn’t understand. This helped me get more knowledge in English and to have a better vocabulary. I am proud to be bilingual for many reasons. However, in this paper, I will only explain three of the reasons.
Language allows us to communicate with other human beings and without it the world would be doomed. We would not be able to understand anything or have the abilities to cooperate with each other. Although language is made up by humans and not the world, we choose to believe otherwise. Everyday we go on with our lives thinking that the world created everything, but that is not true because something or someone had to create the world as the world was not just there. Language is essential to the world just as water is essential to people. For example, those who are deaf and communicate with sign-language sometimes struggle because not everyone knows how use
I am very interested in different languages and cultures. I find it very interesting how many different people across the world have developed a language of their own and how different some languages truly can be. I am fascinating by how different sentence structures were created and thereby, also the etymology of words in not only English, but in various languages. It was when my parents had enrolled me in the French Immersion Program that this enthusiasm for languages had commenced. As a result of my fondness of languages, I have been able to learn English, French, Hindi, and Punjabi. Though, I have also been studying Japanese since the age of 9 and I have also started to learn Spanish since last summer. It was this passion and the support from my encouraging teachers that had allowed me to excel in the French Immersion Program.
People use language as a material object. Language is social in nature and language helps people to convey a message. Language is how humans communicate with each other. Language empowers, language makes the person’s needs known and language expresses what the person wants people to do. Language is how people interact and language makes a person’s identity, emotions and opinions known. Language helps a child to make sense of their world. Language helps older children to interact and belong to a group, Language also helps a child to understand the field, tenor and mode in situations, so that the child can critically evaluate and organize the
Spanish and English may both be widely spoken languages, however English is becoming more and more prevalent as a second language. For this project I interviewed an acquaintance who speaks Spanish as a first language and English as a second language. Spanish and English are similar in aspects such as grammar (in that they are both SVO—subject, verb, object—languages) and vocabulary (since both were influenced by Latin) (Shoebottom n.d.), however they are also quite different, especially in their phonology. These differences are what made learning it as a second language a little more difficult for this interviewee.
...xpressing her Chinese culture. Mastering a second language allows her to articulate her and her mother’s thoughts; it is a foundation for her pride and a foundation to express herself. For Gloria Anzaldua, instead of choosing one language over the other, she chose a mix of the two and fights for it. She realized the value of her language when she lost it and now treasures it. The kind of Spanish she speaks is neither English nor Spanish, but both. It is overflowing with culture from Medieval Spain, France, Germany, etc., just from the origins of the words. It is her pride and a representation of herself, fighting and living. In conclusion, in addition to Lera Boroditsky’s article proving that the structure of language affects how we think, the articles by Eric Liu, Amy Tan, and Gloria Anzaldua show how language is a foundation for a person’s culture, pride, and self.
Walking upright on two legs has never been given much thought in my mind, and after the course, it has made me realize just how unique and important that is to us as human beings. However, in our culture, language is so important in communication and being able to get our points across. Every culture is unique, and so is their language, which is so immensely beautiful. Dialects and speech patterns play a big part in language, and it makes each human being unique to their culture. In my personal belief, language is in fact the most important part in being human as in my future career, language and communication will be key. I plan on double majoring in Graphic Communications and International Business and in both fields, communication with social networks, employers, and customers, is very important in holding a professional job. Without communication in these fields, none of the work would be completed and the business would not be able to operate. For humans, without language the world would be a bleak
As time went by I slowly learned how not to confuse my letters in English and Spanish. My skills surely increased as I got older. Through the things I was taught, I could change my life for the better.
Learning a new language isn’t always easy. It has it’s up and down moments but once I learned that new language I felt accomplished and a lot of new opportunities open for me. My point is that learning English for me wasn’t easy, but once I learned English, I was able to help out my parents more and a bunch of new doors opened for me. You can say by knowing English I had a little more power now at home because they depended a lot on me now but it also felt great just to help them out with their English.
Language is a part of our everyday lives, and we can describe the meaning of language in many ways. As suggested in Gee and Hayes (2011, p.6 ) people can view language as something in our minds or something existing in our world in the form of speech, audio recordings, and writings or we can view language as a way of communicating with a group of people. Language can be used to express our emotions, make sense of our mental and abstract thoughts and assists us in communicating with others around us. Language is of vital importance for children to enable them to succeed in school and everyday life. Everyone uses both oral and written language. Language developed as a common ability amongst human beings with the change
People will use a language all their lives and high school is the best place to start. The ability to learn more than one language while in school can give a student an advantage in the modern world (Lombardo). It is also important in college because you are more likely to communicate with people that speak other languages. In the most transitional programs, students move into full-time instruction in their major language after three or four years (Lombardo). It gives students more employment opportunities (Lombardo).
Now you know our friend’s experiences -Rodrigo, Rubén, Jessica, Nieves, Ms. Rena, and all the rest of them. And you also got to know how they are related to English language; their difficulties, advantages, points of view and ways of thinking. Fortunately, this might mean you are now aware of the relevance English has in our current context. Although some people may still say that learning English is just an option, we are now able to stand our ground and claim that English is now a tool, a means … and an open door to a whole new world of experiences, people and resources which were not so easy to access
Even though there are advantages as well as disadvantages, the need for international language for communication, politics, economics and security is necessary and English is the best “language candidate” for that function. English is a language spread all over the world and it is used by millions and millions of speakers. According to my opinion, people should use English as a tool to communicate with all cultures but every country must keep their culture and language is a great part of it. In conclusion, language defines identity of a country and everyone should keep their language and explore others.
