The woman that had an authoritarian parent, who did not provide affection with love, attention for them, often suffered from depression. These women tend to suffer more depression and stress linked to alcohol problems. However, further study of the different problems in these children, according their gender, will lead to better understanding of how maintain a successful child-rearing.
RQ: Does authoritarian parent styles causes depression and addiction behavior in their children?
Method
To begin the longitudinal study research, used a sample of 100 families with their children from different Christian churches to determine an authoritarian parenting style and to assess parents and children. To assess children asked for their parents’ permission.
First, parents were assessed, they were asked to answer a questioner. A Parents questionnaire included questions about their child-rearing. Second, children were asked, their questionnaire had many different questions about their child-parent relationship, including four different sections: authoritarian parenting style, psychological problems, behavior problems and alcohol problems. Parents and children were assessed separated in private rooms but at the same time. After parents and their children finished answering the questions, the results both groups were discussed. In the next five years, all families evaluated including parents and their children will be a call to back to repeat this study
