Although the first powered flight was seen in 1903, the first flight in Australia occurred in March 1910, initiating aviation in Australia. Almost a decade on, regulations on airspace and flight were first seen with Australia signing the International Convention relating to Air Navigation. Soon later, the Civil Aviation Branch was created, becoming the Department of Civil Aviation in 1938. This department dealt with Aviation legislation, flying operations and engineering practices. Later on, in 1988, the Civil Aviation Act 1988 was introduced, establishing the now Civil Aviation Authority as a statutory authority. Seven years later, an amendment

As well as the status of the individual aircraft safety condition; which is inspected by CASA, its condition and design must also be assessed against its type design. The type design is the design of a particular mode of aircraft, and is validated by what is called a “type certificate”. The issuing of a type certificate signifies the required airworthiness of a particular aircraft design, and is required before the first of type CoA can be issued.

During the 1970s and 80s production of single engine factory built aircraft has virtually come to a halt. With many product liability lawsuits, which led to large verdicts against the manufacturers of the single engine aircraft, manufacturers slowly dropped out the single engine aircraft business. With no more single engine aircraft being built used single engine aircraft have dramatically increased in price. These events have led to an increase in homebuilt aircraft that cost a fraction of the price of a previously owned Cessna, Beechcraft, or Piper. Another boost to homebuilt aircraft has been the FAA. In the role of promoting air commerce, the FAA has supported regulations and advisory circulars that encourage the development of homebuilt aircraft; for example Advisory Circular 20.27d. During the infancy of aviation no federal safety program existed. Some states passed legislation that required aircraft licensing and registration. Local governments passed ordinances that regulated flight operations and pilots. What this created was a patchwork of safety related requirements. In 1926 Congress passed the Air Commerce Act, which created the Department of Commerce. Historically the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) dates from the Air Commerce Act of 1926. This was the first federal legislation of the government in aviation safety. The government finally realized that by regulating aviation a safer aviation industry could be attained. For example the Post Office suffered one fatality for 463,000 hours of flying versus non-regulated flying there was one fatality per 13,500 hours. After World War II there was an excess of aircraft and trained pilots in the United States, which significantly increase in private and commercial flights. An increase in the use of private aircraft and large passenger planes meant an increase in the possibly of aircraft safety incidents. Even though safety measures had been put in place to tend to large number of aircraft in the skies, in late 1950’s there were two unfortunate accidents that finally led to legislation that would be a major change to the world of aviation that affects us even today. The introduction of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 spurred several changes in aviation that eventually led to the creation of the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Airline Deregulation Act was passed in 1978. Previously the government had control over the fare prices, entry, exit, routes, and schedules under the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) Sunset Act. The Civil Aeronautics Board act limited airline competition. Customer service through cabin crew and food with the only things the airline companies were able to compete in. The public was not flying as much and the fare prices were high, as a result the Airline Deregulation Act was passed.
Aviation industry deals with more than thousands of people and also spending millions of funds in order to meet the requirements, satisfy the necessities of people and to produce state-of-the-art aircraft. With its objective it is significant to consider the hazards involved and bring out an output with the least extent and under control risks to prevent any loss in terms of life and even profit.
In 1958, the United States government created the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) because of increasing safety concerns due to aviation accidents. However, they were not the first government organization that regulated air transportation. Even in 1958, the FAA shared certain responsibilities with other organizations. The responsibilities of the FAA at the time were limited when compared to their functions today, but it was an important step to effectively create a safe air transportation environment. To truly understand why the FAA was created, one must first understand the government’s role within the country’s transportation system.
ICAO’s main role is the creation, modernisation and implementation of universally accepted standards for use in international civil aviation and assisting in the planning and development of international air transport to ensure the industry remains safe, efficient and orderly as it evolves. It is responsible for updating the Convention on International Civil Aviation, via annexes. These standards cover all technical and operational aspects of international civil aviation including safety, personnel licensing, operation of aircraft, aerodromes, air traffic services, accident investigation and environmental.

Every year the brightest minds in aviation compile the greatest technological advances towards creating the safest and most economical aircraft on the planet. No detail is over looked, and the bottom dollar is the all controlling factor. From private aircraft to public aircraft, space exploration and beyond, the future is bright for the passenger aircraft market, and everyone who purchases air travel should be excited to see how industry unfolds.
Aviation security plays a vital role in the aviation industry, from protecting passengers, staff and aircraft. The aviation industry, more specifically airports and aircraft, make prime targets for malicious harm, crime, and other threats because of the vast amount of people that use air transportation. Although there are many risks that are posed to the aviation industry, we can only hope to have learned from the history of airport bombings, hijackings, and sabotage terrorist attacks. The aviation industry faces threats at each step of the journey, but assessing the risks properly will help deter and mitigate these threats. Conducting risk analysis in today’s aviation security is not only important to the aviation industry, but it is important
