It can be said that technology has enhanced the generation. On August 6, 1945 the 5th atomic bomb was dropped, killing thousands of people and causing worries about a nuclear war. Ray Bradbury, an American fantasy horror story author, had his short story “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains” published in 1950. This story focused on a world that revolved around industrial science, which was later demolished my nature after the human beings had been demolished by nuclear forces. It has come to my attention that technology has been beneficial to the populace.
The short story “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains” written by Ray Bradbury was a demonstration of how electronics have been convenient for mankind. To begin with, “August 2026:

There Will Come Soft Rain” by Ray Bradbury states, “The house gave ground as the fire in ten billion angry sparks moved with flaming ease from room to room and then up the stairs.
While scurrying water rats squeaked from the walls, pistoled their water, and ran for more. And the wall sprays let down showers of mechanical rain” (Bradbury 46). To clarify, the inhabitants of the house attempts to save it from being enveloped by the flames. Thus demonstrating how technology has improved society given that assistance is provided by sthere is assistance in dangerous situations. Furthermore, according to “August 2026:There Will Come Soft Rain” written by Ray Bradbury, “‘Today is August 4, 2026," said a second voice from the kitchen ceiling, ‘in the city of Allendale, California.’ It repeated the date three times for memory's sake. ‘Today is Mr. Featherstone's birthday. of Tilita's marriage. Insurance is payable, as are the water, gas, and light bills’” (Bradbury 3). In other words, the machinery from the ceiling repeats the date and makes a list of important events in order to ensure that one will keep it in mind. Therefore, illustrating how high tech is extremely useful to humanity given that it allows the brains to process and comprehend the information everyday by having it restated. In conclusion, the ways machineries are practical for the world are exemplified in Bradbury’s story “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains.” Although Bradbury’s story may convince the populace that electronics are profitable others may argue that it does the exact opposite, it is catastrophic to mankind.
In the article “25 Negative Effects of Technology” written by Sheri Hosale it states, “The more time people are spending engrossed in video games, talking to friends online and watching funny cat videos on YouTube, they are spending less time being active or exercising.” In other words, we spend more time using electronics compared to the amount of time we spend doing physical activity. However, those electronic components can also be used to contact one in an emergency, watch and follow along with workout videos, complete online assignments, etc. showing that the community is aided by the devices. According to the article “25 Negative Effects of technology” by Sheri Hosale, “We isolate ourselves by walking around in our own little world, listening to our iPods or staring at the screen of the latest mobile device even when we are around other people.” To clarify, by using technology, such as cell phones and iPods, we separate ourselves from those around us. On the other hand, listening to music can calm or distract one when overwhelmed or upset. To sum up, some still believe that high tech is damaging to the
community. Many people believe that humanity has been assisted by the evolution of technology. In brief, the house making an attempt to save itself from a natural disaster and the voice from the ceiling restating crucial information for the sake of one’s memory, as illustrated in bradbury’s story, exemplifies how the populace has had multiple advantages come from electronics. The concept of industrial science being convenient for mankind urges us to find new ways to advance the machineries we have today.
According to the next story “There will come soft rains”, the main character is also the setting which is a house. This is not a normal house, it is automatic house, it can manipulate by itself and do not need human to control it. However, this seems pretty powerful house was facing a dangerous situation, there was a fire. The house knows that there is something unusual happens, and the house tried its best to fight against fire, but eventually turned into ashes. Through this story, I think the
Gadgets are great and all, but Bradbury is attempting to prevent his readers from resting solely on them while forgetting the everyday tasks people can sometimes take for granted.
Since the Industrial Revolution, technology has become an essential tool in human life. Technology impacted lives in society by offering a way to “multitask” by using two or more technological devices. Technology and internet offers the facility to do homework faster through Google, while listening to music on Pandora or YouTube. Sometimes, you can even talk on the phone while you listen to music and do homework. All you need in order to multitask is to have all the technological devices needed. Many people consider technology as a positive change in our lives, because of the facilities it offers us. However, many other persons, like Christine Rosen, think that technology instead of improving our lives, it has only changed it negatively. Technology, in fact has provided us with many facilities, however such facilities are affecting our interactions with the physical space.
The concept in these articles are very possible for us in the future. Technology is
Ray Bradbury’s story, “There will come Soft Rains,” this story was first published in 1950 describing the future in the year 2026. The story describes 2026 to be a time of machines and less human effort. No one was moving, only machines doing all of the work. This time period describes advanced technology, war, and destructive fire.
Although Though technology can be good, it can be worse than good, such as people always with their faces on their phones and headphones in their ears, people neglecting books and using more online text, and people wasting their lives watching TV.Children now know how to use a phone faster than they can
There Will Come Soft Rains is a short story that takes place after a nuclear war. In this story, it goes through the daily routine of a completely machine run house. The daily routine had been set for the family that lived there prior to the war. But, now the family no longer lives there, so the machines just keep running, with nothing to stop them. By The Waters of Babylon is also a short story that takes place after a nuclear war. The son of a priest goes on a journey to the east, which is forbidden. The place he travels to is called “The Place of The Gods.” He fears that this journey will kill him.
...mitted through these devices. It could be easily argued that technology has positioned society on the precipice of significant achievements such as a cure for cancer, a source of sustainable energy, and production strategies that could significantly reduce worldwide hunger. However, as powerful as technology is, it requires innovation, creativity, and intellection—all human specific traits—to reach its full potential. Unfortunately, the negative cultural connotations resulting from this technological revolution have placed society at risk of being able to consistently develop these characteristics in future generations. While the future is indeed bright, a continuing optimism requires a careful examination of the true utility of various technologies and a conscious commitment to regain the most important things that have been lost in this technological revolution.
The past two decades have overwhelmed the human experience with technology, along with all its distractions. The direct relationship between the mind and the body’s ability to adjust from these distractions can be extremely difficult .Further research has shown that it has become an addiction for many. Technology has significantly improved our lives as a whole through experiences such as Global Positioning System (GPS), cell phones and social networking allowing us to communicate with different people around the world. These technologies make our daily lives easier and more efficient. However, this also discusses the effects of technology on various aspects of our everyday personal experiences both with each other and with the world around us. On the other hand technologies such as cell phones have become a problem in getting students to focus in class and distracting drivers and thus, resulting in vehicle accidents. Technology is beneficial, but can also become an inescapable distraction in our lives. It is important to view technology as having the ability to make our lives better or worse, yet also as having the ability to change our personal lives and behavioral patterns.
Technology is unavoidable in our modern lifestyle. You wake up, you use technology; you use technology while cooking, while eating, while driving. While you’re lying in bed before you fall asleep, you use technology, technology wakes you up in the morning. Is all the technology around you good for you, or is it harmful to your health? Was our society healthier or safer before all the advancements? So many questions and concerns about all of the technology we crave, but there are very few people who know the answers. Technology affects all parts of human life. It can create jobs, motivate people to get active, and assist people in learning, but this does not balance out that there are dangers that follow the use of technology.
According to The Huffington Post, people are on their devices for, on average, about eleven hours and fifty-two minutes a day. That is almost half a day and a lot longer than most people sleep or work. People have not yet realized how they or their families are being affected by this constant use of technology. As a result of technology increasing, children are experiencing health problems, school issues, and social problems. First and foremost, health problems due to the increase in technology usage is becoming a bigger issue than one might think.
...t, I always assumed that rain was simply a type of weather. To me, the word rain was used as a clarification to help viewers understand. However, rain is so much more than just a clarification on the weather channel. Rain is associated with several emotions ranging from cleansing to depression, love to anger, and life to death. Sometimes I wonder if life would be better without rain; there wouldn’t be as many natural disasters or frequent reminders of depression. But then I imagine not being able to feel renewal and love, or see the effects rain has on life; suddenly, I realize that the positive effects of rain far outweigh the negatives. As you see the majestic rain gracefully floating down, recognize the simple beauty and importance in rain. Uncover those feelings you’ve been burying within you for so long; expose the emotions you’ve been hiding and feel free.
Technology has make our life more productive in many different ways. One of the greatest invention is Apple’s products. It leads an evolution of tablet devices. IPad or IPhone can act as a textbook, laptop, navigation, camera, notebook, gaming devices and more. It combines all the other devices into one which allows to manage our time effectively. “This is not a simple proposition, since our devices have become more closely coupled to our sense of our bodies and increasingly feel like extension of our minds” said Sherry Turkle. They are becoming part of ourselves. Perhaps some people are saying technology causes laziness because we are relying more on a devices instead of doing stuff by our self, but technology are intended to make our lives easier. We are still doing the same thing but in a more effectively way. Human race are moving on, we cannot stay in an era where people are still using paper map to find out the way, sending letter through the post office. If there is a natural selection in Human Evolution, there is also can be a natural selection in human’s behaviors, inefficient behaviors are being eliminating.
Technology is making individuals less interested in socializing and more isolated by keeping them addicted to technology, and distracted from what has significant meaning in their lives,
Society has been impacted both negatively and positively by technology. As a result, every aspect of our lives has been influenced by technology. Hence, life is easier, yet it has taken away some of the enjoyment. For example, remember the days of less stress and more personal interaction, when there were no online messages, no emails, social media or cell phones. We have become excessively dependent on technology. As a result, we need to rely less on technology even though it has made learning fun, and business, daily tasks, work, travel, shopping, making new friends and staying in touch easier. In conclusion, technology has a lot of benefits, yet it could take over our lives and become our worst enemy if we aren't careful.
