a modern day Atticus Finch. Since Misha shares such qualities with Atticus, including but not limited to, compassion, nobility, and sincerity, this paper will debate if the following statement true: Misha Collins is a modern day Atticus Finch. Misha Collins is an American actor, born August 20th, 1974, in Boston Massachusetts; as Dmitri Tippens Krushnic, to Rebecca Tippens and Richard Edward Krushnic. He is most famously known for his role as Castiel, Angel of the Lord, on the hit CW television show Supernatural. He has two children, a son, West Anaximander Collins, and a daughter, Maison Marie Collins. His two children are by his wife of seventeen years, Victoria Vantoch, also known as his high school sweetheart. The home he and his family reside in was built by himself, including the majority of the furniture within. This is credited to his other professions, including but not limited to, Carpenter and Woodworker. He shows off his skills in other lights as well, such as building homeless shelters and schools through his non-profit organization Random Acts. He uses his platform as an actor to promote his organization, as well as connect with people and spread positive messages and kindness. He does this along with his co-workers, such as his best friends Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, through their television fan-base. His devoted fan-base is why he is such an influential icon, who has the power to do so much for the community and the world he resides in. Misha Collins has done a lot of things, and put forth great efforts to change the world.
Misha and his family were homeless during his childhood, and one day a person bought his family lunch. Misha says that this one small random act of kindness fuels him to this day to constantly do positive things to others and do well by others (Inspired, 2017). This was his goal, and now looking back at his 44 years of life, it could be said his goal was reached. Misha is making a difference by spreading kindness. He encourages people to engage in random acts of kindness, and better the lives of those around you. Misha has founded and funded many organizations, such as Random Acts, which is a non-profit organization that builds schools and homeless shelters for those in need. His work is relevant because we live in a world where there is so much cruelty, and Misha is spreading love and kindness to combat it. One small act of kindness can change someone’s life for the better, and Misha realizes that, and makes sure everyone he meets realizes that too. “Even small acts of kindness can make a profound difference to somebody else.” He even puts his neck on the line if it means supporting, and standing by the little man. He has gone against powerful people’s wishes just to ensure that the smaller voices weren’t ignored. For example, he stood up for the lgbt community, and didn’t back down, even when a church dubbed him the “Anti-Christ.” This proves he’s similar to Atticus when it comes to …show more content…
standing up for others, but he’s also proven that he knows when not to stand up; similar to how Atticus knew when to stand down when it came to him and Bob Ewell (Chapter 23). One example is when he stated: “First, no matter how much you want to (and believe me, I’ve been there) don’t engage. It sucks, I know, and it’s often so tempting to jump in and try to defend yourself, but targeted harassment simply isn’t worth time or energy,” in combat against cyberbullying (Forbes, 2018). Misha doesn’t just say, he does. When advising people in the best way to behave, he leads by example, as shown by this direct quote from him. “I actually think that the most efficacious way of making a difference is to lead by example, and doing random acts of kindness is setting a very good example of how to behave in the world” (Misha, 2012). Which has shown to be the most effective way to spark change, and is why Misha has made such an impact on the world. Some of the effects of Misha’s efforts are improvements of people’s lives, families coming together, and more kindness being returned into the world.
Many people have claimed that Misha has saved their lives, improved their self-esteem/self-worth, their view on the world, and so much more. Some even go as far as to say that Misha changed their minds when it came to taking their lives, solely on the fact that Misha Collins exist. Many have also benefited from Misha’s woodworking/carpenter skills as well. He’s built Schools in Nicaragua, and he’s built homeless shelters in Bellingham, WA. It’s also affected Misha in a positive light as well. He’s used his position, and past experiences to connect to others. He’s shared his life story, and spread a very positive message around his fan base. This message effected many communities, from minorities, to the L.G.B.T+ community and to poverty stricken communities. Misha’s stance is very powerful, and he doesn’t take the responsibility that comes with it lightly. He’s truly a good person, an angel among men, some would
say. Now how does all of this compare to Atticus Finch? What are his character traits? Atticus Finch is the voice reason in the story, To Kill a Mockingbird. He is a sensible, noble, fair, and compassionate individual. He keeps a cool head throughout the movie, even when it would have been justifiable to lash out. His sensibility and sensitivity during heated situations was a great skill to have during the trial Atticus is participating in during the story. Atticus is defending Tom Robinson, a black man, being accused of raping a white women; and taken into account the time period this story takes place, Atticus had plenty room to dismiss Tom and let the jury convict him, but Atticus’ morality and sense of fairness wouldn’t allow him. Most importantly, he didn’t let his children fall on the racial bandwagon, even with the community wearing and tearing on their innocence. Atticus teaches his children these morals, and uses the world around him and current issues to teach Scout and Jem life lessons. Atticus Finch is also a very noble character. He is a calm, resourceful, and centered person. He is a prized role model, for his respectful and moral nature. His reasonable nature makes him the perfect lawyer. He is dauntless, reliable, trustworthy, caring, sincere, and patient. Atticus Finch is a role mode, with many virtues to admire. Misha Collins and Atticus Finch are similar in many ways. The both share a sense of nobility, they both try to teach their children healthy morals, and they both do their best for their respective communities. He’s most similar to Atticus because of the relationship he has with his children, West and Maison. He spends a lot time with his children, and he is not shy with his affections, showing how he deeply cares for them, and displays how he spends a lot of time teaching them how to be good people. He takes the time to teach his children good morals, and how to interact with other people. In addition to this, his son, West, and daughter Maison, seem to look up to him in a similar way that Atticus’ children, Jem and Scout look up to Atticus. They also share a similar trait, nobility. Nobility, by definition is having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideals, and Atticus Finch defiantly displays this during the trial and throughout the story. Though they share many similarities, they are not the same person. Misha and Atticus have just as many differences between the two individuals as similarities. One, for example, is how the two act under sensitive situations. Atticus is more methodical, taking his time to asses and examine the situation before making a move; as opposed to Misha who is more impulsive and outgoing, letting his opinion be heard and diving into situations head first. This can be seen in Atticus throughout the movie, when he chooses not to fight Bob Ewell, after blatant disrespect, and when he carefully chooses his words when speaking in court, and to his children. As compared to Misha Collins, who has been quick to state his opinion on a matter, and fight very stubbornly for his views. He is quick witted and does not recklessly fight, or speak, but he does fight harder, and speaks louder as compared to Atticus. These two are not identical, but they do share more similarities than differences. Misha Collins is a modern day Atticus Finch. This paper just displayed the truth of this statement in detail, with many facts pulled from the story To Kill a Mockingbird, and the life of Misha Collins. To summarize, Misha Collin is a modern day Atticus Finch because the two characters share similar traits, ideas/world views, and parenting techniques. They both share similar personality traits such as nobility, compassion and sincerity. Misha shows these traits when he stands up for smaller parties, when he spends time with his children and instills good morals. He also shows these traits when he’s bettering his community, and the world, by bettering the lives who live in it. Atticus also shows these traits in similar ways, such as standing up for Tom Robinson, and instilling healthy and morals into his children as well. The two also share similar world views, such as wanting equal/fair treatment for everyone, despite their skin color. Atticus stood up for Tom Robison, even when his community turned against him, because he knew it was morally right. Similarly to how Misha stands for minorities, even when people don’t approve of his actions. Lastly, Misha and Atticus share parenting techniques. They both spend time with their children, and use current events to teach their children life lessons. They both have a strong sense of morality and nobility, and instill healthy morals in their children. They both spend a lot of time with their children, and are deeply affectionate and caring for them. In these ways, and more, Misha and Atticus are very similar characters. These similarities make the following statement true: Misha Collins is a modern day Atticus Finch.

Atticus Finch is a very essential character in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. He is not only the father on Jem and Scout, but he is also defending Tom Robinson. Along with all of the obstacles and challenges that Atticus faces he is still an exceptional role model for the children. He also overcomes the diversity of Negroes and whites that is displayed during his time by standing up and fighting for Tom Robinson and his triumph in court against Bob Ewell. Lee presents Atticus Finch as understanding of Tom Robinson, caring with the children, and calm throughout the Tom Robinson trial.
Atticus Finch is the most significant character, in To Kill a Mockingbird, who challenges racial prejudice as he does not follow the norms, in Maycomb, of being racially prejudice towards others. At first, Atticus Finch is reluctant to take on Tom Robinson’s case; however in the end, he willingly accepts. Unlike the majority of Maycomb residents, Atticus is not racist and makes no distinction upon race, he sees Negroes, just like Tom Robinson, as the same equality as any other person in the Maycomb community. For this reason, he believes they should be trea...

Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird was published in the year of 1960, and is one of the few American classic novels awarded the Pulitzer Prize. The racism that was prevalent in many southern American towns in the 1930s is brought to life with profound imagery in To Kill a Mockingbird. There are several characters in the book, yet the true main character is the narrator's father, Atticus Finch. He is a man of great integrity and intelligence. A very heroic figure in more ways than one, Atticus possesses traits like being principled, determined, and, more importantly, he teaches others.

Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, Harper Lee's, To Kill a Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior, to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, and the struggle between blacks and whites. Atticus Finch, a lawyer and single parent in a small southern town in the 1930's, is appointed by the local judge to defend Tom Robinson, a black man, who is accused of raping a white woman. Friends and neighbors object when Atticus puts up a strong and spirited defense on behalf of the accused black man. Atticus renounces violence but stands up for what he believes in. He decides to defend Tom Robinson because if he did not, he would not only lose the respect of his children and the townspeople, but himself as well.
Atticus Finch is a character of stability in an unstable society. He is a balanced figure who is able to cope with the unreasonable and highly emotional town in which he lives. He can manage the prejudiced white masses and still deal justly with the underprivileged Negro population of Maycomb. He is one of the few people who understand the individual worth of a person regardless of the color of his/her skin. This enables him to defend Tom Robinson based solely on the concept of justice and equality. In his closing argument, Atticus explains that, “there is one place all men are created equal. That place is in a court room” (Lee 205). This justifies the fact that Atticus believes in equality in a society, the equality not only of race, but also of sex, class, and religion as well. His view of equality and justice is a symbol of his own psychological stability throughout the novel. Accordingly, in the final analysis of the story, Atticus represents the “justice” in the community of Maycomb. His stability throughout the book is one of the many characteristics that depict Atticus Finch as the novel’s core.

Atticus is known for many qualities he displayed during the novel, as well as various achievements. This makes him a heroic character. When people think about heros it is a person in a cape flying into burning buildings to save people or fighting a villain to save the world. According to Oxford Dictionary a hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. This shows how just normal people can be qualified as heros. A book that exemplifies this is To Kill A Mockingbird because it is filled with people that went out of their way to help others or the society as a whole. A person who did this in particular was Atticus Finch. Atticus Finch was a hero because he fell under the definition and was admired for his courage, achievements, and noble qualities.
The novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee is a simplistic view of life in the Deep South of America in the 1930s. An innocent but humorous stance in the story is through the eyes of Scout and Jem Finch. Scout is a young adolescent who is growing up with the controversy that surrounds her fathers lawsuit. Her father, Atticus Finch is a lawyer who is defending a black man, Tom Robinson, with the charge of raping a white girl. The lives of the characters are changed by racism and this is the force that develops during the course of the narrative.
To Kill a Mockingbird is a story about equality. In the setting of this book (Maycomb, Alabama) the inequality of races is completely normal to people’s everyday lives. The disrespect of African-Americans in this book is an ordinary occurrence that most people have grown up accustomed to, but there are some who don’t wish to be a part of this discrimination. One of these people being Atticus Finch, the father of Jem and Scout. Atticus uses the world around him to teach his children how to give all people respect no matter what their race or social class is. Atticus Finch is a good-hearted, moral lawyer in the discriminatory town of Maycomb Alabama. Amongst the blabbermouths and discriminatory townspeople of Maycomb, Atticus wants his children to be different from them, and to learn how to respect the dignity of everyone using the changes in their lives to teach them.
Thus, Atticus Finch, Tom Robinson, and Arthur “Boo” Radley are all victims of rumour, humiliation, and prejudice. Firstly, Atticus is humiliated by his family and his neighbourhood because he has stood up to an African American man, and then, is nicknamed “nigger-lover” for his decision. By strong evidence, Tom Robinson is proven innocent of rapping a young white woman, but is still convicted, and then shot to death because he is black. Finally, Arthur Radley is greatly misunderstood because of his mysterious background and is forced to isolate from society to escape the awful and untruthful rumours about him in Maycomb. Through the storytelling of Atticus Finch, Tom Robinson, and Arthur “Boo” Radley, the reader understands how the mockingbird symbol is used to represent those who are innocent, and have good intentions at heart.
There are many celebrities who support and promote causes and charities to create awareness about peace, humanitarian causes, poverty, and illness in the world. Does celebrity activism really have the intention to help others or do celebrities get involved in it because they want to enhance their reputation? Although some celebrity activists do not have a good reputation because of their bad behavior, they contribute to society by giving donations or by supporting good causes. Celebrity activism matters because celebrities are powerful tools who raise awareness of good causes. Celebrities have the power to attract people’s attention, for instance, their fans, to influence them to support the important causes.
True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would want to have in the near future and those who interest us in a way that make us want to be a better person. They teach us more about ourselves and encourage us to make better choices. A role model is not just someone who is successful, but someone who has had similar experiences that we have had. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee demonstrates that Atticus Finch is a true role model. Over the course of the novel, Atticus stands up for his beliefs, respects everyone despite who they are and behaves as a true father. Atticus is truly the ideal role model.
