To Kill A Mockingbird is a book of mystery and meaning of which the author Harper Lee depicted through the many memorable characters that she created based upon her own experience of her hometown. These same characters are most memorable for their unique personalities that can send off a certain message to people that may not be familiar with them, although the people of Maycomb were extremely familiar with one another. Some characters that tend to stick out, as of importance in the novel, seem to go by the names of Atticus Finch, Scout Finch, and Tom Robinson. Atticus Finch was a father figure of which everyone would admire, mostly for his humble and judge-free personality. Most of the city of Maycomb did not believe that it was possible to think of all people, especially those of color, in such an accepting and tolerant way. He is known for many traits such as non-bias judgement, an open mind, without prejudice, and many more. Many of which are why he was chosen to be Tom Robinson’s lawyer. The daughter of Atticus, Scout Finch, takes almost entirely after her father. She herself also carries an unbiased background, although she shares some prejudice within the novel. Scout also tends to be seen as more of a “tom-boy” type figure as opposed to the little petite and dainty girl that is generally expected by the people of Maycomb. Although she doesn’t always care enough to act like a proper lady and meet the standards her Aunt Alexandra wishes her to be, she does care about people. This happens to be one of her many memorable traits. Other traits of hers include the neutral minded state of which she shares with her father Atticus, she also has the common ability of being able to negotiate between debates and arguments of which she obtained over watching her father's court cases over the years. The final character who personally stood out in the novel over others was Tom Robinson, the african-american man convicted of raping Mayella Uyele.
