Dixie Coca-Cola Bottling Company
The Dixie Coca-Cola Bottling Company is the oldest building that was ever used by the Coca-Cola corporation. This building marks the transition that Coca-Cola made from providing drinks on tap to selling in bottles. It was built in 1891 and converted to a factory in 1900, despite the head of Coca-Cola's reservations about bottling soda. Today, the Victorian building remains at the same spot at 125 Edgewood Avenue. Instead of serving up soda, it has been redesigned as a location for the Georgia State University Baptist Student Union. It was awarded the designation of being a National Historic Landmark in 1983.
Atlanta History
The start of the Georgia colony was an attempt of the king to enhance the wealth of the homeland. King George II of England, approved a charter in 1732 that established the Georgia colony with control and authority entrusted to twenty-one trustees. The charter signed by the king was to give England’s worthy poor a new life, enhance the wealth of England by cultivating and producing raw goods to be sent back to England for profit, and to make Georgia a buffer colony to protect South Carolina against the Spanish, Indian enemies, and others that were not allies of the English (Doc D). In 1733, under the command of General James Oglethorpe, roughly one hundred and fourteen settlers landed in the town of Savannah to start the new colony of Georgia (Doc C). This included a few colonists who were not indebted to the trustees and therefore may not have had the loyalty that the nonpayers were inclined to have. Based on the details defined in the Charter of 1732 which were charity, economics, and defense the question is asked was the Georgia colony a success or failure? In my belief, the new colony of Georgia was a failure because the objectives listed in the charter
Ever take a midnight train to Georgia? No, well ever drive through Georgia? When driving through Georgia on State Road 49, there is a little town called Andersonville that is very easy to miss. To many it is just another town. Yet this town has its own trail. The Andersonville Trail is a small brown dirt road that leads visitors to the Andersonville National Historic Site (Roberts xi). This National Historic Site looks like a “well- tended” national cemetery. On closer examination, this cemetery is nothing like Arlington (Roberts xi). “In this national cemetery, the marble headstones are so close together, they almost touch. The markers appear to be one long head...
The statistics are truly mind-numbing as more than four hundred thousand people have been buried at Arlington National Cemetery since the 1860s. There is an average of thirty funerals a day, and more than four million people

During the Antebellum Era, slavery was about one-third of the South’s population. The Antebellum Era was the period before the Civil War broke out. The South’s economy was booming which was credited to slavery. Their argument about slavery was that slaves were necessary and important to their economy. It would kill their economy if they got rid of slavery. Slavery was the foundation of their economy. Without any slaves, cotton would not be able to be produce. Nearly 60 % of their exports was cotton. Southerners would also point out that slaves were better working in plantations than working in a northern factory. According to them, the North had bad workplaces and long hours. They insisted that slaves were cared for and helped when they needed it unlike the North. However, slaves were still treated bad in the South. They would resist slavery in a variety of ways. For example, running away was one form of resistance. The most common form of resistance was known as “day-to-day” resistance which were
I was excited to learn of this assignment because I recently made a trip to Andersonville with my Army unit in March. During the bus ride, we watched the film “Andersonville” to gain a deeper sense of what the historical site was about before we arrived. To be quite honest, the historical site itself is actually quite boring and not much is left of the original grounds. Watching the film prior to arriving gave the visit much more meaning to me and I was able to actually visualize the events that took place and really feel a connection and understanding. After visiting the prison site, we moved over to the memorial cemetery, where approximately 13,000 imprisoned soldiers are buried, along with the six Raiders who were executed. The cemetery also accepts veterans and their family members for burial in adjacent plots to the Andersonville soldiers. There is also a Prisoner of War museum which I found to be the most interesting part of the whole visit.
Not only are military heroes buried at Arlington, but memorials have also been built to honor others who have given their lives for America. The memorials that are located throughout Arlington tell a story about people throughout American history (Reef 43). Each year families walk the endless rows of white head stones at Arlington in order to pay their respects to the ones that have given their lives for America.
Beautiful Colonial Williamsburg has many roots within the history of Virginia. From colonial times to present day, Williamsburg has kept the charm of a time long ago. Colonial Williamsburg through the centuries has given people a place to learn about the rich history Virginia has to offer. The significance of Colonial Williamsburg can be found within the battles that were fought during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, the political figures that helped shape this great nation, and restoration efforts within the city of Williamsburg to maintain a time that should never be forgotten.
“If there is any period one would desire to be born in, is it not the age of Revolution; when the old and the new stand side by side...when the glories of the old can be compensated by the rich possibilities of the new era? This time...is a very good one.”

Washington D.C: Our Nation’s Capital Although the entire world is familiar with the City of Washington as the United State’s capital, the city was nonexistent when we became a nation in 1789.
