Atlanta, Georgia After a long day’s journey on the road for time that never ticked, I slowly opened my eyes that weighed about a pound of bricks. The morning light glowed through the curtains as I tried to get out of bed. Shaking like a leaf on a tree, I finally found the strength to rise up and gather my clothes for the long exciting day ahead. Racing time along with the family, we raced downstairs for the nice breakfast that was prepared. I walked through the lobby that was decked out with chandeliers that shadowed over us. The tables sat in an order that created a maze. I looked over my left shoulder, not only to see another family, but to see the huge flat screen television that hung on the wall over a bar table that looked like it had …show more content…
never been tended to. I went to grab a plate as the smell of cinnamon bread and fresh-cut fruit traveled through my nose. While eating, I looked ahead to see the chef staring out the window to see the people enjoy the meal he had cooked. After eating, we gathered a few belongings to take with us.
I stared out the window as we left the hotel in Alpharetta to head to the City of Atlanta. Visiting from the country, life seemed as though it was been fast-forwarded. All the cars on the interstate sped as if they were racing each other. In the City of Atlanta, I had never seen so much rush-hour traffic. Pedestrians walked the streets cautiously. We decided to park the car and join them. The sights were interesting. My family and I stuck close together while we walked in the shadows of the buildings that towered over us. We ended up at the end of the crooked line that moved up slowly as we patiently waited, aiming to get our city passes. With the city pass in my left hand, I walked on the side of my mother. Slowly forming a line of four, security checked our belongings very quickly as if they knew that none of us had any weapons. We walked through a vacant pathway to see a lady in a dark blue vest. We each gave her our city pass booklet so that she could tear out the card so we could visit the venue. Set free, we excitedly walked around the corner to see a huge area surrounded by people. At the top was a view of colorful lights and pictures of sea creatures as we entered the Georgia Aquarium. The air blew into my eyes as I walked beside my parents. The sound of waves and water flowed through my ears. We walked through the halls that led into rooms that had bright tanks full of fish that stared into our
eyes. We repeated the interstate’s race for the next few days. Entering back into the City of Atlanta, we viewed several sights. I glanced at the sky that blinded me for a second and saw the huge Coco-Cola bottle. I also glanced at the History Museum and the Georgia Aquarium. A few blocks down into the city was a view of the bright red CNN sign that stared down at me through the trees. It took several days to finish sight-seeing. I was not ready to go home. I dreaded the next day that was sneaking up on us. After our journey through the City of Atlanta, we raced traffic one more time back to the hotel. We had entered the ice box for the last night. I tossed and turned for warmth throughout the night until morning. Once again, the morning light glowed through the curtains as I still struggled to get out of bed. Finally, I made my way out of the bed to grab the last set of clothes for our long journey back home.
Atlanta, GA, is one of the most exciting cities in the nation. Not only is it one of the most populated cities, but it has one of the largest metropolitan areas as well. This city is a fantastic option for those making the move to Georgia for a number of reasons. If you are considering a move to Atlanta, here are some things you will want to know.
I never predicted this beautiful trip ending up as a nightmare in my existence. I drove for approximately 40 minutes and my partner shared the driving for an additional 40 minutes. We were driving my friend mom’s brand new Toyota Camry XLE; one of the most comfortable cars I had ever been in. We enjoyed the elongated ride with new hit music, and air conditioning set to an exact temperature that met our necessities. On the way to the beach some doubts about going there started to circle around our minds, but the fact that we were about half way there made them a...
I can hear the hum of taxi cabs whizzing past me as I stand on the corner of the busy downtown street. New York City! I still can't believe that I'm here or that I'm staying here. Aunt Allison was so sweet to let me live in her place whilst she travels around south America. I step out onto the road when the traffic light changed from green to red.
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I have visited many places throughout the United States, however, none are as exciting as Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, there are many places to go and sights to see. For example, Six Flags Over Georgia, Stone mountain Park, and the Atlanta Braves Stadium, are all in or near the city of Atlanta.
I had been for some Hours extremely pressed by the Necessities of Nature; which was no Wonder, it being almost two Days since I had last disburthened myself. I was under great Difficulties between Urgency and Shame. The best Expedient I could think on, was to creep into my House, which I accordingly did; and shutting the Gate after me, I went as far as the Length of my Chain would suffer, and discharged my Body of that uneasy Load.
It was May 25, 2013 when I, accompanied by my friends, went on a journey that would change my life. We departed ourselves, very early in the morning, from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, not knowing what lied before us on this mysterious trip. The airport was filled with many international people and everyone was in a hurry to reach their desired destination. It was hectic, but we gradually made our way through the very thor...
Atlanta is the capital and largest city in Georgia, with a population of 472,522, and one of the fastest growing major cities in the United States.1 Originally, known as a railroad settlement, it was founded in 1837 as the end of the Western & Atlantic railroad line ( the name changed from Marthasville to Terminus, to finally Atlanta, the feminine of Atlantic). 10 In 1861, became one of the 11 states seceding from the Union over the issue of slavery.11 It was also the home front during the Civil War and a major producer of war materials, and the regional transportation and distribution center.11 Post-war, due to railroads, Atlanta continued to economically grow and diversify, along with its population.11 A large number of African-Americans were drawn to this booming city due to its opportunities for education and employment.11 By 1900, more than 40% of the total population comprised of Black/African-Americans.11 As Atlanta’s population grew, so did the racial tensions.11 Several riots broke off during the 1900’s, including the reemergence and formation of Ku Klux Klan headquarters in Atlanta.11Today, the city remains a transportation hub for the nation and the world, with the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.10 The city is considered a banking center and has the third largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the nation.10
Naples is a very unique city that attracts people from all over the world to its beautiful surroundings. Amongst the pristine beaches and championship golf courses, a teenager can find many entertaining locations. One such area can be found in downtown Naples on Fifth Avenue. Along this stretch of road near the beach lies a vast array of shops, cafes, restaurants, and other establishments. I often find myself spending many nights on Fifth Avenue, walking along the tree-lined streets or sitting in one of the numerous cafés or restaurants.
The third maddening buzz of my alarm woke me as I groggily slid out of bed to the shower. It was the start of another routine morning, or so I thought. I took a shower, quarreled with my sister over which clothes she should wear for that day and finished getting myself ready. All of this took a little longer than usual, not a surprise, so we were running late. We hopped into the interior of my sleek, white Thunderbird and made our way to school.
Walking, there is no end in sight: stranded on a narrow country road for all eternity. It is almost dark now. The clouds having moved in secretively. When did that happen? I am so far away from all that is familiar. The trees are groaning against the wind’s fury: when did the wind start blowing? Have I been walking for so long that time hysterically slipped away! The leaves are rustling about swirling through the air like discarded post-it notes smashing, slapping against the trees and blacktop, “splat-snap”. Where did the sun go? It gave the impression only an instant ago, or had it been longer; that it was going to be a still and peaceful sunny day; has panic from hunger and walking so long finally crept in? Waking up this morning, had I been warned of the impending day, the highs and lows that I would soon face, and the unexpected twist of fate that awaited me, I would have stayed in bed.
I scarcely snoozed at all, the day before; incidentally, I felt insecure regarding the fact of what the unfamiliar tomorrow may bring and that was rather unnerving. After awakening from a practically restless slumber, I had a hefty breakfast expecting that by the conclusion of the day, all I wanted to do is go back home and sleep. Finally, after it was over, my dad gladly drove me to school; there, stood the place where I would spend my next four years of my life.
I’ve finally made it. When you first land here the immediate difference is all around you whizzing around you creating a sense of life. It 's a sense that you rarely have in a small town it 's bigger I can’t quite obtain a hold of it. It moves fast all through the night and during the day. It peaks in all of my senses to create a brand new sense of the life of the city.
After a quick breakfast, I pulled some of my gear together and headed out. The car ride of two hours seemed only a few moments as I struggled to reinstate order in my chaotic consciousness and focus my mind on the day before me. My thoughts drifted to the indistinct shadows of my memory.
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
The city was blinding me with shining lights that you could see from space. It was glistening in the night and dull by day. There were cars parked all alongside the streets and traffic jams every corner.
